Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care

My mother was a Pikes Peak Hospice in home patient from Feb 10, to March 10, Everything was going fine and I felt that they were very helpful to both of us until March 10, My mom who has Alzhiemers cannot really tell me when she is sick, but I knew something wasn't right that morningHer behavior was unusual and she would not get out of bed and had a low grade feverI called Hospice at 11am and they told me that a nurse would be out to our home soonI waited for several hours and called againI spoke with *** several more times that day and she kept telling me that a nurse would be there soonMy mom got worse and worse and was having a hard time breathingThe final time that I called them I told them that I was going to call an ambulance which they advised againstI called anyway As soon as the ambulance was taking my mother to the hospital, the nurse showed up at my door which was about or 6:pmMy mother suffered for hours because they did not show up The nurse *** was rude to me and told me that my mom was not an emergencyMy mother ended up in the hospital for days with the flu and is now in a rehabilitation facility recoveringToday is March 27thMy mother is years old and should not have had to suffer all day because hospice would not show upAt one point *** the lady that answered the phone said that *** the nurse was not answering her phone or returning her callsFrom what I understand, Hospice is supposed to be compassionate and caringUnder no circumstances was the treatment of my mother either of those things that dayI am extremely sad this happened because the other nurses and CNA's that came to my home were wonderful to my momPikes Peak Hospice apologized and took full responsibility for this situation but never offered to reinstate my mother into their program nor did they offer a solution to an obvious problem that they had that dayThey did not even tell my why they would wait for hours to see a hospice patient that was in distress

This was the one place that helped me with care for my mom during her last year's of lifeThey are experienced caring peopleI have only good things to say about their staffI'm not sure how I would have made it through this time in my life without them
