Pinch a Penny - Beverly Hills Reviews (%countItem)

I have been paying for pool service for about two years with this company and installed a new filter system shortly before hiring them. As part of the advertised pool service, they are supposed to clean and or backwash the filter system. I recently noticed my filter pressure was double what it should by user manual specifications so I took a look at the past service slips from the service technician who is at my home every week. By his own records, my filter system has not been serviced since I started keeping the service tickets back in July. It is now Oct 10th. It's is entirely possible that they have never actually serviced my filter. I went to the store and tried to speak to the Manager about this and she said she had to speak to the owner and someone would call me back. I did not receive a call back from the store or the owner. I feel they have probably ruined my filter cartridge by not adhering to the minimum standard of their agreement with me or the factory specifications of the filter system that I bought from their store. I have been over-charged for months of service that I didn't receive by minimum standards. I have all of the service tickets written by the technician's own hand to offer as proof of my claim.

Desired Outcome

Store Credit At a minimum, I feel they should reimburse me for the services they did not provide or issue a rather large store credit on future pool service. Additionally, they need to replace my pool filter cartridge and in the future provide the services for which I am paying; to include the cleaning or backwash of my filter system.

The local Pinch-A-Penny pool equipment ran a advertisement booklet for various items. One item I regularly use are the chlorine tablets. The booklet did not show a sale price for the 25 lb. bucket so I called the store and spoke to Evette H, who was a very kind and helpful lady. I asked her what the sale price for this product was and she put me on hold to get the information. She returned and told me the sales price was $61.05. I asked again is that the price and she told me yes. I drove to the store and met Evette for the first time. I took a bucket to the register and the manager rang up the product and told me that it is #75.99. I told her that I was told it was $61.05 and she said that was wrong. I told that they must honor the price if quoted to me. I do not feel a business cannot changes prices if an employee verbally made a quote. This Ms. H maybe be new, but she was very kind and helpful.

Desired Outcome

Replacement I feel the product should be sold to me at the price quoted. It is only a good business practice. The sale ended Sunday, but since I was in the store on Sunday, the price quoted by Ms. H should be honored.

2 years ago I burned out my 2 horsepower pool pump. They convinced me that 2 HP was too much and sold me a 1 HP pump. I have a Zodiac/Caretaker in-floor-pool cleaning system. It has taken me 2 years to figure out why the cleaning system is not working right (I am not a pool expert). The distributor valve (according to the Caretaker 99 manual) requires at least 19 psi to operate correctly. I have only 8-10 psi. I talked with the people at caretaker and they confirmed that I needed a larger pump. I confronted the manager/owner of the store and was rudely told that he would not sell me a 2 HP pump.

They are not qualified to handle zodiac/caretaker systems according to the website:

http://www.zodiac.com/en/united-states

My mistake for asking them for advice. They do not appear to be qualified, nor is their customer service satisfactory

The manager/owner said he would send someone out to examine the problem and that has not happened for the past two weeks.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I made a mistake in assuming that they were competent in providing advice on my system. They represented themselves as knowledgeable. It did indeed take me two years of research to discover that they provided improper advice. The owner was rude in telling me he would not install a larger pump. I have resolved the issue by contacting someone competent in caretaker systems. They put in the correct sized pump. And everything works as it is supposed to work. I further resolve to never do business with them again because of their rudeness and incompetence. An apology would be appropriate.
