Pinetree Group Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: Engaged us to do renovation work for their commercial property at [redacted]. Had us apply for permits and complete demolition work. Have failed to pay ussince then and have routinely lied through emails and phone calls about payment. Work wascompleted 4 months ago. They then brought in unskilled unlicensed workers to continue the workunder our permit. They are sticking us for $5,159.59! Work was completed in March. We have been promised payment since then..Desired Settlement: Would like to get our money but I don't think you do that..so I hope to warn others from getting screwed

Response:

We received the attached complaint and I would like to address the issues presented. As a preliminary matter Taylex never did business with Pinetree Group, Inc. Taylex's counter party was Helicon Partners LLC. We manage multiple buildings all under different entities and Taylex's choice to pursue complaints against the entity whose email server I use and not the entity that it did work for betrays its sloppiness in this matter.

We hired Taylex fr three sequential construction job's in our building located at [redacted]. The first Job was completed quickly and as agreed. The second Job proceeded extremely slowly and with numerous work interruptions due to permitting issues. The final certificate of occupancy was issued nearly three months behind scheduled and only after our building manager, [redacted], spent a weekend finishing some work required by the inspector. [redacted] secured the venting in the plenum ceiling that was left in a manner that violated the building code and changed the exit door hardware that was not code compliant and left by Taylex after [redacted] refused to make these changes. The late delivery of the space was extremely embarrassing to us and we lost out on revenue because our tenant did not commence rental payment until the space was delivered. Thereafter once the C/O was obtained and the tenant occupied the space, Taylex refused to finish the punch list of final items as per our agreement. This was extremely frustrating to us with [redacted] telling [redacted] he would fix the issues and never doing it. We eventually payed another vendor $700 to fix the glass door which was installed improperly and still need to retain someone to move the circuit breaker to the proper box. And my building manager fixed the cabinetry that Taylex installed improperly.

During this second project we signed leases with two new tenants one across the hall from the space taylex was working in and one down stairs. We retained Taylex for the downstairs project but not for the one across the hall. [redacted] and [redacted] were upset that we did not use them for the project across the hall. immediate they began complaining about the contractor across the hall. They accused him of not being licenses, He is; of not having a permit, he did; of violating the fire code by using wooden studs on a knee wall, he was not the inspector permitted it, and so on and so forth. We did in the middle of the second job ask Taylex to bid on the third job down stairs and apply for the permit and begin the demo. They quoted us a price on the demo of $2,000 and did not mention any price for the permit application. We Agreed. the permit application was submitted and the demolition done. Thereafter, the permit was rejected 4 times with myriad excuses from Taylex. between this time delay and the bad end the the prior project we decided to retain the other contractor to do the work. Perhaps we did not communicate openly with Taylex at this point but we were still chasing them to finish the punch list up stairs. The other contractor managed to get the permit issued within a week and began the work. Taylex now alleges that we never changed the contractor of record with the town building department. This is absolutely false. I personally walked down to city hall with my building manager and the other contractor to submit the change of contractor form and I received confirmation from the building inspector that we followed the procedure.

Taylex now claims that we owe them $5,100. $3,000 for demo that they quoted at $2,000 and $2,000 for permit procurement even though they failed to procure the permit over a three month period. Since then they have rejected our offer of $3,000 and harassed us, our broker, and others. We have since sent a check for the full amount owed even though we do not believe we rightfully owe this amount. we sent this check because we fear further slander and harassment.

I know I am responding to their complaint but please open a complaint from us on Taylex for this matter.
