Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: I do not accept his answer. As a business with a license, I have never had to deal with such poor customer service. I chose to deal in texts because I have had many bad experiences with Craigslist where it was my word against the other person's. With texts, there is no doubt as to what is said. At this point however, I realize this is how this business deals with customer's who have purchased his product. It is what it is. Thank you for your help with this. I guess this is as far as I am going to get. Sincerely,[redacted]

The Saga with this customer begins much earlier than April 10th. Apparently they prefer to communicate by text only instead of calling. At least a week possibly two prior to the 10th I received numerous texts form this customer, one of which they set an after hours appointment. They failed to show or...

call for this appointment and the texts begin again for the next appointment. Late in the evening on the 10th they arrived towing a very questionable trailer. After driving every tractor on the lot they settled on the USED Yanmar YM 2000. As stated they watched as I jumped this tractor to get it started.  I advised them that I have had no opportunity to inspect this tractor or charge the battery. I further advised that it may just need a charge or possibly a battery and discounted $50 from the price for the inconvenience.I was later called by the customer who stated the new battery didnt work. I advised them to put a full charge on the battery. I further asked if they were able to test it with a voltmeter. They replied they could. I advised that with the tractor running they should recv a reading of 13-14 volts. Also that being a diesel motor that there should be no draw on the alternator other than charging the battery. Shortly after the texts again began coming from the customer. They were essentially as she stated. A neighbor looked at the tractor and decided the alternator and regulator were bad and that the cost to rebuild them was $250.  I responded by advising the customer that NEW ones could be purchased from [redacted] tractor for $200. A flurry of lengthy text messages then ensued in which the customer wished to debate the issue and insist on the $250.00As brand NEW replacement parts were $200.00 I sent the customer a check for that amount. I chose not to engage in the lengthy text message debates as I do not feel that texting is a productive way to resolve any issue or accomplish anything else. Finally in all reality the customer purchased a USED tractor for $6850. New tractors with full warranty start at around $15000.00 and go substantially higher.  The customer purchased a used piece of equipment knowing full well its condition without warranty as clearly stated on her invoice. It is unfortunate that they purchased a battery that they did not need and that they were duped into overpaying for parts by a neighbor.

As stated by complainant. We have never met and he was apparently on our lot while we were closed.   As further stated the tractor was incorrectly marked with a handwritten tag. In an attempt to satisfy the customer we offered the tractor to him at our cost. Which after B&O and fees would...

result in a loss for us.   Complainant was not satisfied with this and demanded that we sell the tractor to him at the mismarked price. This would have resulted in a substantial loss for us and we are unable to absorb.   Complainant stated he would not be satisfied in any other way and that he would force us to sell the tractor to him. It became readily apparent that we would be unable to satisfy the complainant in anyway we apologized and the conversation was ended
