Pipeworks Plumbing & Heating, Inc. Reviews (2)

We contacted the owner and are working with him.

Review: On July 18th, 2013, We contracted PIPE WORKS plumbing & Heating Inc to install a new Steam Heating System. Now it is September 28th. We still do not have a working Boiler. Mr. [redacted] installed a new Steam Boiler. However, the boiler never worked. Mr. [redacted] has attempted three times to try to make the boiler work, on this past Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. But the boiler never worked, never functioning. Now, after Mr. [redacted]'s third try, he left the electric box of the boiler open and wires not connected.

The weather is getting cold. It is a health issue. Resident may get sick due to cold weather. PIPE WORKS has failed to honor the contract. We demand total refund of $5,000 that we paid to PIPE WORKS.

Response:

PIPE WORKS Plumbing & Heating, Inc. was hired to supply and install a steam boiler for the third floor apartment of a house that Mr. [redacted] owns. The third floor apartment consists of two steam radiators. At the time of the estimate Mr. Qui was informed his boiler was oversized for the space it was heating. At that time he was informed that the estimate would include a steam boiler one size smaller due to the fact it was heating up two radiators. Mr. [redacted] and PIPE WORKS PLUMBING & HEATING signed the contract and supplied and installed the boiler.

While installing the boiler we came across two other problems. One was the steam line underground was rotted out and the second was a leak on a water line. Mr. [redacted] was informed of these two items as soon as they were discovered. Upon agreeing on an extra charge PIPE WORKS PLUMBING & HEATING went forward with fixing the two outstanding issues. The boiler was then finished. At that time Mr. [redacted] asked for an automatic water feed for his steam boiler. We again agreed on an extra charge and proceeded with the work. We were scheduled to go in on Monday September 2, 2013 and perform the extras. Mr. [redacted] emailed us on Sunday September 1, 2013 and asked us to hold off on the work as he had some work he wanted to do before we did the

extras. Mr. [redacted] called and asked us to come back and complete the job.

PIPE WORKS PLUMBING & HEATING went back as scheduled to wire in the boiler for a test run and at that time we had no access to the third floor apartment. Since we did not have access to the apartment where the heat was to be used we could not start up the boiler. Mr [redacted] called a couple of days later and informed us there was no power to the boiler. Mr. [redacted] informed us he was going to look into the problem himself. Mr. [redacted] was going to test for power at the switch and the boiler. Mr. [redacted] called us back and said there was no power at the switch and he did not know which breaker it was. I do not know Mr. [redacted]’s expierence with electric.

PIPE WORKS PLUMBING & HEATING went down to look at the problem. PIPE WORKS PLUMBING & HEATING found a transformer blown. We do not know if Mr. [redacted] touched or crossed wires when he was looking into the problem. After PIPE WORKS PLUMBING & HEATING replaced the transformer we still could not test the boiler due to no access to the third floor apartment and see if power was on to the boiler. We were not granted access to the apartment, and we asked Mr. [redacted] on more than one occasion with no response. Mr.[redacted] was notified we needed access to the third floor apt apartment again. PIPE WORKS PLUMBING & HEATING received a phone call that there was power to the boiler but when Mrs. [redacted] turned on the thermostat in the third floor the boiler would go blank and there was no power. Mr. [redacted] was informed once again that in order to check the problem we needed access to the third floor apartment to check the whole system and we cannot go back and forth without access to the apartment. We then finally had access on a Saturday and checked the whole system and found a problem with the existing thermostat thermostat wire for the third floor apartment. Since it was a Saturday afternoon our supply house was closed and we would have to come back during normal business hours and needed access to the boiler and apartment again to take care of the problem that was diagnosed. PIPE WORKS PLUMBING & HEATING never had access to the apt and boiler during normal business hours on the same day to find and correct the issue. The boiler was sized to the radiators it

was providing heat for. There were communication problems with Mr. [redacted] and his tenant from the very beginning. We have tried repeatedly to contact Mr.[redacted] via email and phone to come and correct the problem with no response. Mr. [redacted] even references us coming back on more than one occasion to fix the

problem.
