Review of Pittman Construction & Renovations, out of Mechanicsville, VA. Sept 2, 2016. I wanted gutter guards on my home in [redacted] to keep leaves and debris out of my gutters. I researched 9 different gutter guard brands for 2 weeks. I then contacted [redacted] who pointed me to Pittman Construction in Mechanicsville, their only dealer in Virginia. Within a week ot the initial contact, Wesley Pittman (owner) came to my home. He removed his shoes and donned clean temporary slippers as soon as he entered, then he showed my wife and I the [redacted] product and explained how it would be installed. He asked me to sign a contract for the installation. The final agreed upon price came to $21.50 per linear foot of gutter, after a brief but friendly negotiation on price. The work was to begin within 4 weeks. My home is about a 3 hour drive from Mechanicsville, so I expected that my installation cost would be a bit higher than the national average of $20 per linear foot of (professionally installed) gutter. After 4 weeks with no word from Pittman I called and was told the installation would be on a Saturday in 2 weeks time. On the promised Saturday morning, a work truck pulled into my driveway and the (lone) young man went right to work, being careful how he placed his ladder on the asphalt shingled roof and so as not to damage any plants or bushes surrounding the single story ranch style house. He cleaned some debris from the recently cleaned gutters and reattached the gutter in a few spots where it was pulling away from the fascia, as he installed the [redacted] guards, which were in sections perhaps 3 or 4 feet long. He worked quietly and steadily for about 5.5 hours and then we wrote him a check for the agreed amount. Within 5 days, it rained very hard for about 30 minutes and the new gutter guards worked perfectly, our gutters never overflowed or leaked. We will have to wait until later in the fall to see how well they work with all of the falling leaves! But so far, we are very pleased with Pittman Construction & Renovations.

I have extremely mixed reviews about the work Pittman Construction provided. In July 2015 I contracted with Pittman (via Home Depot) to lay new hardwood floors on my ground floor, replace kitchen and bathroom cabinets (including new sinks and countertops) and totally replace my walk in shower. The flooring guys showed up to start work on a Monday, finishing the living and bedroom but were no shows on Tuesday. When I called Pittman to ask where they were, a project manager (newly hired) finally showed up at my house at 1400 and had no clue where they were or when they'd be back. Luckily, they returned on Wednesday and finished the job which looks fantastic. The pair of guys doing the cabinets were outstanding and came back several other times to finish or fix issues that other contractors left undone. The shower was a nightmare from start to finish and took nearly 2 weeks to do despite my having all the necessary items to do the work. The framing reduced the space by 1 foot and the tile work, while beautiful to begin with, began failing within 6 weeks. Grout popped, tiles became loose and broke. I called to report the problems in early November and was told I would get a call back in a week. I never heard back from anybody and finally contacted my plumber to rip out what was incorrectly installed and start from scratch. Now I know my shower will last but it's costing me additional money to fix all the problems. Not satisfied with Pittman's response to problems especially since they were paid in full before the work even started!

Review: After paying in full and on time on 11-02-15 for completion of a stick-built sunroom, the business owner, Wesley P[redacted] has failed to restore my warm-weather yard ([redacted]) to its original condition even though prior to signing the contract for the sunroom, he assured me that his landscapers would return my yard to its original state. Despite contacting him about this on multiple occasions (I can supply the texts and emails dating back months), he has not addressed the yard issue or for that matter any of the issues on the punchlist including repair of the aggregrate driveway broken by one his contractors. The yard restoration is time sensitive as [redacted] sod must be installed during summer months. We usually communicate via text. However, since July 17, he has not responded to any texts. I have attempted to resolve this matter on my own for the past several months. The only way that I got his attention at all in early June was that I told him that I would report him to the Revdex.com. Even though he noted that he attempted to get the yard fixed, he has not done so even though I have given him more than sufficient time. In addition to this matter, during construction, the sunroom failed multiple inspections and due to an overall inattention to detail, I had to oversee much of the details such as following up with Mr. P[redacted] on the failed inspections. Furthermore, Armstrong Mechanical sent a letter re intent to file a mechanic's lien against the sunroom due to Pittman's failure to render payment in the am't of $3800 even though I had paid in full. This necessitated multiple calls by me and the need to leave work to pick up a letter at the USPO that I had to sign for. I would not have reported these latter details if he had addressed the yard repair and the other items on the punchlist. I will provide texts and emails upon request.Desired Settlement: Address all items on the punchlist with the most time sensitive being repair of yard by grading the affected area, providing nutruent rich soil and installing [redacted] sod similar to that in the remainder of the yard.
