Pizzey's Contracting

We hired Wayne Pizzey to complete interior renovations to our new store. Wayne and his employee missed the first day, this should have been a warning sign however we allowed the slept in excuse and decided to continue moving forward the following day.
Wayne and his staff said they knew how to build steel stud frames, after the first day another steel stud journeyman framer who was onsite working on another building phoned me to advise me that all the studs were going in the wrong directions and not installed correctly. At that point we went to the site and spoke with Wayne he laughed and corrected some of the mistakes and said everything is hidden by the drywall don't worry.
After 3 days and 3 guys they weren't even close to finished. 4 days into a 1 day job and Wayne and his team slept in again, at that point we decided to part ways as a company that shows up late 2 out of 4 days is ridiculous, and not 10 mins late 3 hours late. So we had 2 other companies come in and estimated the cost to complete. Both companies stated that it was framed wrong he had done wood framing with steel studs, not completely wrong however his unfinished work needed to be repaired and the rest finished.
We asked Wayne to give us his bill for the time he had into the work he did, he submitted the bill for a complete job even though it was far from complete. We asked him if he could adjust the bill for the work that needed repair as clearly he didn't know what to do and he refused to even talk about it. We asked him if he would fix what he didn't do correctly he refused. Not only did he refuse he tried to call our franchise and get is in some kind of trouble for asking him to Honor his work which is very petty and not professional. The 2 estimates we got were for $1660.00 and $1780.00 for complete steel stud framing labor, Wayne's bill was $5000 for incomplete work and no acceptance for work done wrong.
In conclusion Wayne made us buy all materials upfront as he said his company couldn't carry the cost, so for $5000, 3 times the cost of anyone else. Wayne started a job, slept in twice in 4 days, didn't finish the work, submitted the completed bill for payment, called our franchise and tried to get us in trouble, then threatened to bad mouth my business if I didn't pay in full.
Wayne won't stand behind his work, Wayne will over charge, Wayne doesn't show up when asked.
We paid Wayne in full for the complete invoice the first day he requested it even though he didn't finish or do it correctly ***.
Stay away from this guy.
