I had taken my rifle to Pkat Arms Inc. To have a barrel installed. The barrel nut had not been installed properly and while shooting my rifle the improperly installed barrel nut caused my rifle to have a catastrophic malfunction. I went back to Pkat Arms Inc. To have the rifle repaired. I was told by multiple employees that the repair would be free due to negligence on the previous barrel nut install. Upon picking up my rifle I was charged $80 for the repair anyway even though I was told the repair was going to be free. Also apon receiving my rifle back from Pkat Arms Inc I noticed the replacement barrel nut was also damaged. This negligence in firearm repair is dangerous and if this trend continues comedy could be seriously hurt. I'm lucky I wasn't.

Refund I would like a refund on what I was forced to pay four the repair as well as a replacement for my damaged barrel nut. The repair that was conducted by Pkat Arms Inc is unsafe and could have lead to injury if the rifle had been fired.
This rifle was a home built AR-15 brought in by the customer and as stated in his initial complaint on *** he brought it in to have his custom barrel and hand guards installed. This is normally considered an accessory install and not a major repair and the barrel nut "was" torqued to spec at the time of install. Later that week he brought the rifle back with a damaged gas tube after firing the rifle in binary mode which is "simulated automatic fire". The complainant showed the owner a video on his phone at the time the failure occurred! He claims it was a "catastrophic failure" when it was nothing more than a "malfunction" resulting in the barrel and gas tube rotating "slightly" after loosening and the bolt carrier group struck the gas tube. Again, there was "no" catastrophic failure, only a malfunction due to the barrel nut loosening. The owner informed him this could be the result of the rifle being fired in binary mode and the rapid heating then cooling or some other anomaly. He was told that we "would make it right" by turning it over to *** for replacement of his gas tube and to re-torque the barrel nut. Unfortunately, this was misinterpreted by the customer as "free". He claims "multiple employees" told him the repair would be free when the only person he spoke to was the owner when he brought the rifle back. He's now claiming additional damage to his barrel nut that was not present when he brought it in for the repairs. *** stated nothing was broken when the rifle was returned to Pkat Arms. He also stated it looked as though it was "dumped in lube" and it took him an hour to clean it. The work performed on the rifle by *** was to the gas tube replacement and barrel nut only, not cleaning "his" dirty gun. He claims he didn't want to "make a scene" and was "forced" to pay for the repairs. This is not true! All he had to do was ask to speak to the person who he stated said the repair would be free for clarification. Instead he embarked on a profanity laced and defamatory tirade on *** under the review section. If he was more level headed we might have been able to resolve this with a mutual agreement. He will continue to find problems on a gun "he" built until he claims victory. He has invoked calling his attorney to file a lawsuit so we told him we will have no further contact with him. We stand by our work and 8 years with a solid reputation. We at PKat do not engage in major repairs, just installation of accessories. All major repairs are done by a qualified gunsmith.
I find the response from Pkat Arms Inc to be exactly what I expected from a dishonest business. The first point brought up was that the barrel was allegedly torqued properly. I would dispute this statement by saying that during my time in the Marines I have trained with numerous automatic versions of these firearms and barrel nuts coming loose was never an issue. These rifles would be tortured to the point the barrel would glow red and in 5 years I have never seen this type of malfunction. Another dishonest point is saying my barrel and hand guard are custom made when in fact they are made by *** and are widely available consumer products. This company over many years has proven the quality and durability of their products. Pkat Arms Inc makes it seem in this response that the malfunction was due to rapid heating and cooling however I was allowing the rifle sufficient time to cool down after each magazine to ensure that the rifle would not over heat and to prevent damage to the rifling in the barrel. As for the claim of misinterpretation this couldn't be further from the truth. I was told by employees that the repair price would be covered by this establishment. Later I had also confirmed this with the mentioned gunsmith. I had also told the gunsmith that I would be willing to pay for the rifle to be cleaned however the gunsmith denied payment for this also stating that it was simple to clean with his gun cleaning bath. I also have multiple phone call recordings with all parties in question where it is stated that I would not be charged for the repair. As for my so-called tirade on *** I did in fact leave a negative review. Pkat Arms Inc responded by dismissing my claim as user error. Shortly after my review a string of good reviews minutes apart from each other began appearing from people claiming to be happy customers. Upon further investigation I found these alleged customers were close friends of employees spamming the reviews in an attempt to bury my negative review. It is also worth noting that prior to my review there hadn't been a review on this page since the previous year, 6 months prior to my review. It is blatantly obvious this is an attempt to falsely garner a good rating for their business as well as hide negative reviews from potential customers. This lack of transparency and dishonesty is repugnant. I still wish to be refunded $80 for this repair. If this can not be agreed upon in a respectable fashion then I will be forced to take legal action where evidence to include messages and phone recordings will be given to the proper authorities. I do not wish to go to court however if this situation cannot be rectified I have a moral obligation to stand up for myself as well as future victims of this fraudulent establishment.
To compare a battle ready production rifle to a home build is a ridiculous statement! *** does build quality CUSTOM products and we have used them in the past. The only dishonesty here is from the complainant and his relentless attacks on our integrity. As for remarks and comments on ***, anybody leaving comments were obviously a direct response to his profanity laced and defamatory remarks toward us, not just a negative review. He needs to check his facts, they are CUSTOMERS and that's why it's called social media. I would challenge anyone to read his remarks on our *** page and form your own opinion. Picking up your rifle should have been the time and opportunity to speak up if you had a concern, not later through social media. As for your request to end this in a "respectable fashion", you forfeited that when you engaged social media to air your complaint instead of confronting us direct. PKat Arms is done responding to this complainant!
