Review: I called the Planet Fitness located at 469 E Main St, Branford, CT 06405 in the end of April. I asked them what had to be done for me to be able to cancel my membership. (My husband is military and works more during the summer, I have two toddlers at home and have no time to attend any longer.) They told me I could either come in (hard with two toddlers) or write a letter stating I would like to cancel my membership (which is in good standing). They just had to receive the letter before May 10th for it to be effective and not get charged for May. I live in the next town over, with me mailing it at the end of April it was guaranteed to be there before the 10th of May. Well May 17th came and I got billed the $21.26. So I called and asked them if they hadn't received my letter, she said maybe they just didn't receive it before the 10th. But it should go through for June. June 3rd comes and I get charged an annual fee of $41.48. I call the Branford location on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 and speak to a gentleman who says that I should have sent the letter to the East Haven location because thats where they process the paperwork. I explain to him my concerns on my member cancellation. He says he'll take down my information and have a manager call me as soon as possible. It's Friday, June 7th and I had not heard from a manager yet, so I called once again. The manager was dealing with an emergency but called me back 2 hours later. After speaking to the manager he said there is no record of me sending a letter so I have to go in. And because they "didn't receive my letter" there is no way to refund the charges that I never should have encountered! I was getting misinformation from employees and my letter was magically never received so I have to pay for it. I even called their corporate office and all they could say was that because they are independently owned it has to be dealt with directly through that branch. So I am bringing my toddlers with me today to cancel my membership in person!! Ridiculous.

Our contract requires members to cancel either by coming into the club so that they get a copy of the cancellation form or mailing a certified letter. These methods of cancellation are required in order to protect the member and make sure they have a receipt showing valid cancellation. If the letter was not mailed certified, there would have been no receipt from the April letter that was mailed. We have a copy of the cancellation form that was done in house on 6/8/13. AS a courtesy, we will refund Ms. [redacted] the $41.34 for her annual fee that was charged on 6/1/13. If Ms. [redacted] finds the proof of her letter (if it was mailed certified), she can bring that in and we can refund any additional funds that are due to her. Thank you!

I would just like to be done with this company and will accept the partial settlement. I was getting different stories from their employees and now it's my fault that the letter was "never received".

I still have not received the partial payment from the company. do I contact them directly or just wait out?

Review: I signed up with this company for personal training in the beginning of January. I loved it and found it really helped, but then a month later my sister became incarcerated and I now have to raise my 4 month old nephew who I plan on adopting. Due to this situation, I am unable to continue the personal training. I was charged $340 for upcoming sessions which I will not be able to use. I contacted the manager and after getting in touch with him for a month, he told me there is no way to refund the money, even though this was an emergency situation. I had to contact him several times to get any kind of answer in which he was still rude. Also, on March 25, I noticed my bank account was then over drafted $195 because even though he told me he would cancel my contract for further payments, I still got charged an additional $340! He then proceeded to tell me I have to wait 5-7 days to receive a refund check in the mail. Meanwhile, I am negative $195 and I still have bills that are due. This business has very poor customer service and is very insufficient!The manager, [redacted], also refused to give me the name of the owner! I am very dissatisfied with Premier Personal Training!

Spoke with [redacted] today and told her we would get her the $340 for March that is owed to her tomorrow 4/3/13 if it isn't already in the mail. [redacted] will provide a statement and we will refund her overdraft fees. We make a concession for Ms. [redacted] by cancelling her agreement within the commitment due to her circumstances. The first payment made in February yielded sessions that she is welcome to use or gift to anyone. I told Ms. [redacted] I would continue to research the conversation she had with [redacted] in regards to her February bill, however without further research, the aforementioned explanation for February.
