Mr. [redacted] signed up for a membership with Planet Fitness on 2/26/14.  According to Mr. [redacted] he received a new checking account in 2015 and failed to pass his new banking information along to Planet Fitness.  Per the membership agreement that Mr. [redacted] entered with Planet Fitness,...

billing changes and/or modifications must be passed along to Planet Fitness on or before 10 the month.  It is the customer’s responsibility to relay any billing/account changes to Planet Fitness.  Planet Fitness would be more than happy to waive any applicable service fees that are associated with Mr. [redacted]'s account, Mr. [redacted] would just be responsible for the monthly dues that were unpaid.  Sincerely,Planet Fitness New York Management

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I only went to the gym once. Why should I pay 300 dollars?  Regards,  [redacted]

All of our billing is automated and we are not responsible nor able to make any changes to any of our automated billing procedures. It is not a check but rather a checking account (routing number and account number) that we require for all members in order to draft payment. Mr. [redacted] chose to...

pay ahead on his account to avoid the monthly automated charges. Once the $120 (not $240 like Mr. [redacted] suggested, unless this is in reference to the second membership which I do not have any details on to look into) dollars of prepay had been applied to his cost, it began charging by month for the $10 increments (Mr. [redacted] signed up for a $10/month membership that he prepaid the first year for, this membership does not end after one year). Bounced check fees are not fees that we charge. It is a bank fee and would be the responsivity of Mr. [redacted]’s bank to address. All of these details are available for Mr. [redacted] in his agreement terms. We send a copy to all members upon sign up that outline our terms, billing and other details of membership. In addition, we explain all of these during the sign-up process so that the member has the tools needed to make informed decisions on membership options. All contractual fees through planet fitness are up to date in Mr.[redacted]’s account and there have not been any unauthorized charges to date from Planet Fitness.

I was on the phone talking to a Jason and he told me 6 months trial no commitment and that the yearly annual fee would go to June 1 so that we wouldn't be charged during the trial period. Now I read the email and it says 3 months. Not happy again.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.  I paid $240 for two accounts $120 each. That's a one year membership I did not authorize a second year. As the business stated I was paid in full for the year I did not renew my account and yet as they said the took money out of my account that I did not agre on. Yes the  insufficient fund fees  are from my bank but it is the business that took money illegally from my account that they refuse to stop.  The business admits to selling a product for $120 they agree that I paid the product info at $120 and they admit that they continuously bill my account $10 a month even though I paid the account in full which keeps giving me a insufficient overdraft fee from my account because they refused to stop charging my account the $10. So  so the company is at fault under their own admission of guilt for my loss from the overdraft fees from my bank they admit to stealing money from my account every month even though my account is paid in full.  This needs to stop and I need to recoup my money that was stolen from planet fitness that they just admitted to taking.   Regards,   [redacted]

On 2/9/2015 [redacted] signed up for a $10 per month membership that had a one year commitment and an annual fee every June 1st for $29.00.  When [redacted] signed up for his membership we were offering a $15 per month package with no contract or commitment, [redacted] choose to sign up for the $10 plan....

Upon signing up for a membership we make sure to give each potential member a full rate presentation, and in the event that they sign up we fully explain the terms of the agreement to the customer.  I have attached the agreement that was explained to [redacted], you will notice that he signed the agreement multiple times.  Both parties also receive a copy of the agreement so that there is full disclosure between both parties.  I have gone ahead and cancelled out [redacted]'s membership without charging him a buyout fee, he will not receive any further charges.  Going forward if [redacted] would like to sign up for any of the Planet Fitness locations within our ownership group than we would be happy to waive any applicable start-up fees.  Thanks [redacted]

This is the first time we were made aware of the situation, as Ms. [redacted] had not contacted club management regarding this. We looked into Ms. [redacted]’s account and found a cancellation form on file dated 3/8/16. We have contacted Ms. [redacted] to let her know that we will be issuing a refund for...

$317 for monthly dues and three annual fees. Thank you, Planet Fitness New York Management

[redacted] called to state he received refund check and to close out complaint.

Ms. [redacted] called our Henrietta club to dispute her contractual annual fee charge on the evening of October 3rd. While discussing this issue with the Assistant Manager she used several curse words, aggressive tone and referred to him as a "little black boy thief" before promptly ending the...

call. The employee then called our Regional Manager and explained the situation at which point our Regional Manager called Ms. [redacted] to inform her that she would no longer be welcomed back in our gyms and we would be canceling her membership effective immediately. We do all we can in situations like these to empathize with our members and explain all billing date charges and pertinent information to each member upon sign up. We do not tolerate personal attacks and profanity from anyone, whether it be an employee or a member. The employee in this situation did a good job of remaining focused on the issue and did not participate in any personal attacks or profanity. We will look into all of Ms. [redacted]’s allegations but we are quite confident that my manager of 4 years would not partake in any of the allegations claimed and has not to this point, in his 4 years with us, received any complaints even remotely like those being claimed by Ms. [redacted]. Ms. [redacted] has not brought any of these allegations to anyone's attention before the evening of October 3rd. It is our responsibility to maintain an environment free of the antics portraited by Ms. [redacted] and we are disappointed that she chose to display such poor behavior on the evening of October 3rd.
