Thank you for forwarding this consumers complaint to our attention. We would like to offer the following response. This consumer was provided with an estimate in good faith based upon information provided to the moving consultant. The estimate disclosed that packing materials would be charged... upon use, that a one hour travel time and any tolls would be added to the total and that payment was required prior to unloading at the destination. Our customer service department has reached out to the consumer and offered a refund on the packing services provided. Thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.I still feel as though I was taken advantage of, as the total cost ended up being TWO TIMES the estimate, however it was not worth my time nor energy to continue fighting with this company as my family required our belongings in our new home.

Thank you for forwarding this consumer’s rejection. We offer the following rebuttal: [redacted], not satisfied with the amount of compensation she was legally entitled to, and without first addressing her complaint to LMG, posted a negative online review.  In response to the review, and in an effort to resolve her complaint, [redacted] was offered additional compensation, on the condition [redacted] remove or amend the on line review.  There is nothing illegal or unethical about this, it is simply quid pro quo. [redacted] wants more compensation than she is legally entitled to. LMG is willing offer additional compensation if the reviews are removed or amended. [redacted] is not obligated to accept the added compensation, and may continue to exercise her rights. Regardless of her choice, [redacted] is still entitled to the compensation originally recommended by our claim administrator. Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because:
I’ll respond by point.“Liberty Moving Group provided an estimate in good faith based upon information Mr. [redacted] provided to our sales associate.”I already stated in my original remarks that there was extra cargo from the original estimate and it is irrelevant from the complaint.“On the date of service the foreman estimated the size of the move based on the added inventory.”If that’s the case there was gross negligence, incompetence, or outright intent of fraud to over-estimate by so much. Even IF the amount of cargo was 500 cuft (which I still contest) the original over-estimate would have come at a cost of over $660 using Liberty’s own cost calculations.  I would highly recommend better employee training.“After the shipment was returned to the storage terminal and prepared for long distance transport, it was determined that the shipment was over estimated in size and adjusted to 500 cubic feet occupied in storage.”The ONLY time [redacted] brought up 500 cuft is during the call early August.  The original time of the “discount” was on the day of pickup when he asked “what he could do to make me happy” when I wanted his crew to unload my cargo immediately.  No further adjustments in price were made by this company past the day of pick-up.“The cost of service was amended as well to reflect the change. We apologize for the error.”This is false as stated above.“The deposit, contrary to Mr. [redacted]’s statement, was applied to the service charges and is recorded as a partial payment on the Bill of LadingMr. [redacted]’s cost of service was adjusted after carrier review and the deposit is recorded as a payment applied to the cost of service. Thank you.”This is also false.  The total amount paid by me was $2650.00.  At 500 cuft the cost including a fuel surcharge of 10% would be $2475.00.  So even if their version is true, I’ve been overcharged.I do not know what methods they use to measure cubic footage at their warehouse, but I can only imagine it involves the expansion of matter.  A 720 cuft space half-full does not 500 cubt make.  It doesn’t even make 400 cuft but I am settling.I find the generic and disingenuous response by this company insulting.  I can’t say how this company treats its other clients, but I have not been treated with respect nor honesty.
