If I were you I would not trust this company. Vacations ...NOT! We have tried every year since 2009, we have had to pay for our house wn vacations on top of this useless ownership. What a ripoff. I would run if I were you! I sent in a request on their website recently because we are just fed up and these people did not even have the decency to respond, no manager who wants to calm an upset owner! Nothing! This company is a scam!

I am trying to obtain a copy of the contract that I have with Plantation Resorts.
I am in need of a copy of my timeshare that I have with Plantation Resorts. I have been calling them to try and get this resolved. I have been told that it would be mailed to me a few times and I have yet to receive it. I have been trying to get this contract for over a month now! It is my right to have a copy of this contract.

Desired Outcome

I need Plantation to send me a copy of my timeshare contract ASAP.

I have reviewed our records and find no indication that Ms. has contacted our offices regarding this request. Last contact we have from her is 2018.

None the less, a copy of her contract will be mailed to her by Thursday, June 4th, 2020. The address we have on file for Ms. is : *** XXXXX.

I left a voicemail asking for a copy of the contract and I left my phone number

The company that runs this location Wyndham is horrible. They told me that my Plantation ownership would become obsolete if I did not upgrade. They did not tell us me that I would be paying on both. They also did not explain it was for points access and that made it difficult to use.

Wyndham rams these meetings update meetings down your throat. They obsess with upgrading and I am so not impressed with this company at all. I wish I never got involved. It is too much really. Not worth the investment if you ask me.

Plantation Resort of Myrtle Beach Response • Jun 02, 2020

Per our records, the Kyle's are current owners with Plantation Resort. They initiated a purchase through Wyndham, but did not complete it-this has not or would it have had any effect on their ownership with Plantation Resort.

Any issues or complaints with Wyndham and their sales presentations, would better addressed to Wyndham, as they do not own Plantation Resort, nor do we own Wyndham.

Plantation Resort has let another company come in and run it sales department then takes no responsibility when customers are misled and lied to.

I have been an owner at Plantation Resort since 1994 and had no issues. In 2018, I traveled to the resort to change my weeks to points since the week I had wasn't convenient for my family and I am unable to vacation alone due to medical issues. I was told that the only way to do this would be to purchase with Wyndham. They said the week owners were sent a letter when Wyndham bought out Plantation Resort but I never received that information. During my encounter with the Wyndham representatives trapped me in a 5 hour-long meeting and I was having an anxiety attack. I didn't have my medicine with me because I really didn't think I would be there that long. I told the reps my situation and they just said to sign the paperwork so that I could leave. Every time I tried to leave another rep would approach me and shove that contract back in my face. I had multiple reps hovering over me, pressuring me to sign while I was in grave distress. I finally signed just so I could leave. I was so shaken by the whole thing I was unable to make the 2-hour long drive home and had to stop at my niece's house and stay the night. I intended to use the 3-day cancellation policy but I was unable to connect with anyone who could/would assist and ultimately I missed out on this option. I continued to pay what was required of me because I had signed a contract. I was told by Wyndham that they were "converting" my ownership from Plantation Resort to Wyndham. Two years and $23,000 later I have discovered this did not happen. I called Wyndham to terminate the contract and seek a refund of everything paid to them. I was granted termination at no additional cost and am still fighting for a refund. In the meantime, I also discovered that Wyndham NEVER took over my Plantation Resort ownership like the said they would. I called Plantation Resort and spoke to a woman named Shannon who apparently is the go-to between Plantation Resort and Wyndham. She informed me that Wyndham never bought out Plantation Resort but is allowed to trap owners in meetings and make them feel like their only option is to by with Wyndham. Plantation Resort has no idea what Whydnahm is telling people and from my point of view, Plantation does not care. How can you let another company come into your space and have NO idea what they are doing to YOUR customers?? I then speak to Kathy about terminating my Plantation ownership since this entire time I thought I had ONE contract but I actually have TWO! Plantation Resort sends me "deed back" paperwork and wants me to pay $995!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I have been wronged by not one company but by two. I am almost $25,000 in the hole because I was told Wyndham bought Plantation. How does Plantation have no idea what Wyndham is doing? And I am the one affected. I have called Kathy multiple times and left multiple voicemails and have yet to hear from her about the fee. I have also called Becky S, who I was told I needed to speak to. I have called her and still no response. I am floored by how horribly I am being treated by a company I have done business with for 26 years!

Desired Outcome

I want Plantation Resort to take back the ownership at no cost to me.

I specifically went to Plantation to change to the points system and was told I HAVE to talk to Wyndham about that. I did speak with Kathy but she never got back to me about lowering the exit fee. She stated she would see what she could do but again I never heard back from her. If I was receiving communication from Plantation Resort I wouldn't have found it necessary to file a complaint with the Revdex.com. I provided Plantation a death certificate for my husband in 2016. I am not sure why this is still an issue.

Plantation Resort of Myrtle Beach Response • Jun 11, 2020

Our records indicate that Mrs *** did speak with Kathy again, after which Kathy spoke with myself and I personally placed a new deed back offer letter in the mail on 04/30/20-to which we have received no response.
I have since directed my attorney to prepare a new deed to transfer the ownership from *** and *** to our developer. I will be absorbing the cost of the attorney fees. Mrs *** will need to sign the document and have it notarized and returned to our attorney for recording. Mrs *** will receive a copy of the executed document which will serve as "proof" of the ownership transfer.

Mrs *** did provide a death certificate for *** in 2016, however this does nothing to change the ownership unless she were to indicate a desire to have a new deed prepared to remove *** name.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
The paperwork forwarded on April 30 required a 900+ cost to accomplish the deed transfer. I found this totally unacceptable due to the circumstances regarding my trip to Plantation in July 2018. I have since received paperwork this past week with another deed showing no charge for the preparation and processing of the exit to my timeshare with Plantation. This is fair and what I fully expected. I have signed the paperwork, have had it notarized, and it is being returned to Cathy at Plantation resort in today's mail. Thank you for your assistance

The worst Company
This is our experience with Plantation Resort. At the time we signed the contract, we did not know what we were getting into. Since that time 3 years ago, we have NEVER been able to make any reservations. We have gotten absolutely no value from this timeshare. White on the boardwalk in Myrtle Beach we were offered money to attend a sales meeting. We attended the meeting at Plantation Resorts. We were told timeshare was more affordable than booking our own vacations and would be a great gift for our children after we are gone. We were not told that maintenance fees would increase every year. There is absolutely no flexibility in when and where we are allowed to stay. Three or four were aggressive salespeople who took turns pressuring us until we finally were worn down. Despite all the promises of how advantageous this was going to be, we have never been able to make any reservations at all.T he contract was dated April 19, 2016 and took place at Plantation Resorts. The sales rep. was named Rhonda. The meeting lasted between 3 and 4 hours. We were not given a chance to review or read the contract when we were required to sign, and no one explained the terms or read the contract to us. This sales staff has not afforded me that basic level of respect and we were extremely misled. For example, they told us this was an investment in our future. We also were told we could take vacations anywhere and at any time. In fact, we are required to book for more than a year in advance. We also have discovered that our children will be required to inherit this annual debt. This should have been disclosed to us as they are not interested. This companies employees left out some very crucial information and we would not have made this purchase if we had been told how it really worked. Based on these misleading and deceptive practices, we have deserve to exit from the contract that we have never been able to use. We need someone from this company to address our concerns.

Desired Outcome

Termination

To Whom it May Concern:

Your notice of the above referenced complaint was received is acknowledged. The original notice was received, however our response has been delayed due to COVID and it's effects.

The file in question has been reviewed

The sales process allows ample opportunity for the buyer to review their documents and ask anu questions. There is also a five (5) day rescission period, allowing the buyer a five (5) day window to change their mind and cancel the transaction. The buyer may leave the sales presentation at any time.

There is nothing in the contract to indicate that the Maintenance Fees will never change.

The purchase is for real estate. There is nothing in the contract to indicate that the property value will remain the same or increase. The contract does state that the property is not being purchased for investment or rental income. The property will become part of the owner's estate upon their passing and with that will come responsibility for any fees, liens, etc, just as the original owner was responsible for.

Our office received a an e-mail April 2, 2020 in which the owners requested to cancel/terminate their contract. I responded on April 3, 2020 as follows:

Your email was forwarded to myself by ***.

I have reviewed your account and find that you are still carrying a balance on your timeshare. With that being true, you cannot deed back or transfer your ownership.
Once the loan is paid in full, we would be happy to discuss a deed back option with you, but until that time the bank will not release you from responsibililty.

The owners emailed again April 23, 2020, asking again for a cancellation/termination of their contract. An e-mail response was sent by *** onApril 23, 2020, stating the following:

I received your email regarding your desire to deed back your timeshare. And yes we have been playing phone tag. I will in today till 4pm and would be happy to discuss this with you. I was looking over the notes on your account and on April 3rd, *** emailed you in reference of doing a deed back. She explained that since you are carrying a balance, you wouldn't be able to deed it back or transfer your ownership. Below is the email sent to you from ***:

I have reviewed your account and find that you are still carrying a balance on your timeshare. With that being true, you cannot deed back or transfer your ownership.
Once the loan is paid in full, we would be happy to discuss a deed back option with you, but until that time the bank will not release you from responsibility.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns. My direct number is ***.

As far as reservations are concerned, Owners are asked to make their reservations up to 12 months in advance. All HOA fees must be paid in full before reservations can be secured.

The owners are asking to be allowed to walk away from a total debt of $4,183.45 (as of today).

The owner's request for cancellation/termination of contract is declined. Once the loan balance is satisfied a discussion will be welcomed regarding any outstanding HOA balance and possible cancellation of ownership.

Yours truly,

We do not accept this response. This company is still refusing to take responsibility for our concerns. We were told false and misleading information when we signed our contract with Plantation Resorts. We were not able to read our contact nor did we receive one at the time of signing. We were unaware any of these issues existed until much after five days later. We did not have time to process or even attempt to use our timeshare within that short amount of time. We are not going to continue to pay for something we were misled into. We were told this was an investment and something we could use anytime. Only to discover all the hidden fees and only being able to book over a year in advance. We did not know the truth of what we were getting into. This company needs to take responsibility for the unethical sales practices they are using. We were told what we wanted to hear to push us into signing this contract. We still have not been able to use our timeshare since we signed in 2016. We are not going to continue to pay for something we were tricked into. We need to proceed with termination of our contract with Plantation Resorts.

Unable to get out of our timeshare

My friend, ***, and I purchased a imeshare with Plantation Resort in July 2017 thinking it would be a great "investment" and way for us to vacation. It has turned into a nightmare. Owning a timeshare offers little to no savings, and it has become more difficult to vacation now that we have one than it was when we didn't have this burden. We were also told at the sales pitch that if we were unsatisfied or didn't want it anymore that they would sell it for us. Then, ***'s mother got sick and passed away, and all financial responsibility fell on us. When we reached out to Plantation to help us sell it, they sai that they no longer did that and we would be responsible for our fees. We do not believe this is fair because this is not what they told us when we purchased it, nor did they say that the offer of selling it was something that could go away in the future. That was not clearly explained to us that it was at the resort's discretion. We were lied to and now we are wanting out due to our change in situation. We tried to contact the resort several times by phone and email. We finally emailed *** and she said that the only option for us was foreclosure, which we don't feel is fair.

Desired Outcome

We want our contract cancelled.

Re; Complaint: ***
***, *** and ***, ***

To Whom it May Concern:

Your 2nd notice of the above referenced complaint was received May 6, 2020. This is the first notice of the complaint filing received.

I have reviewed the Purchase documents signed by and provided to *** and *** and have found no references to Plantation Resort "selling the timeshare for them". We have never had this policy. Also, the timeshare loan that *** and *** have, still carries a balance. While there is a loan balance outstanding, the timeshare unit cannot be resold to another party.

*** contacted our offices on January 9, 2020 seeking to be released from their timeshare obligation and they were informed that this was not an option due to the outstanding loan.

*** and *** contacted our offices again via e-mail on April 14, 2020, seeking to be released form their timeshare obligation, to which I sent the following e-mail reply:

Unfortunately, you do not have many options at this time.

As *** discussed with Ms. in January, you still carry an open loan on the property and until that is satisfied, there aren't any options for cancellation or returning the ownership.

Should you decide to discontinue making your monthly loan payments, the default clause of your contract would be activated and you forfeit your ownership. The unpaid balance would be reported to Equifax.

We have had no further communications from either owner.

Yours truly,

We bought at Surfside Beach in South Carolina.

This company sweeps you off your feet with all these free things you will get for signing on the line.

This company told us that we could go and stay anywhere in the world if we come on board with them. We would be using points and would never have to pay for anything again. This was very appetizing.

The first time we tried to use it the next year. Guess what, what they told us was a sham plain and simple. We had to pay about $1500 to stay. It was not just points, it was not free and it was too late they would not cancel this fabricated deal.

We have been paying for a lie and every time we look at an invoice from this company our stomach churns and we get so upset that we fell for this.

I would think companies like this would be illegal If it is they get away with highway robbery.

We have never been able to get into the Plantation Resort. We tried to make the best of it since we were stuck, and they said we could get into this resort anytime and that was another lie.

I am not sure why they will not fess up and work on making it right. They can not lie to people and get away with it.

Please do not support this business. They should be held accountable for their actions and they are refusing to do so and we are stuck with this sham.

We bought into this company in 2016.

We have had to pay out of pocket for every vacation since then. So we essentially are double paying for vacations.

This company is a hoax if you ask me.

They refuse to release us even though we have been unsuccessful at using this.

They are a snake on the ground. You better run.

Same company, new complaint of money being stolen from my account.
I have filed a complaint with Plantation resort before regarding false information given when we signed the contract, we were told plantation resort is a vacation ownership program and not a timeshare, therefore it works differently and they would rent out the condo FOR us and we would receive a check when its rented out which would help to offset the costs of the annual maintenance fees (That we can not afford). This never happened and when I inquired about it, I was told I would have to hire a company to rent it out. My resolution to cancel the contract without penalty was denied. However my resolution to stop automatic payment draft was honored. Since then, Plantation has automatically drafted from my account twice, totaling $339.24 that they agreed would not be taken and did anyway.

Desired Outcome

I would like the $339.34 amount to be refunded that was not supposed to be taken out according the the Revdex.com document from complaint#***. I would like my account with Plantation Resorts to be completely closed without any further penalty or collection as this has been more than a headache and I do not want to do any business with an untrustworthy company nor would I feel comfortable selling the "vacation ownership" to anyone else and have them go through the same headaches my family and I have dealt with since coming in contact with this establishment. This money was stolen from my account the last 2 months and I want nothing to do with Plantation any further.

We are informing you that we are cancelling our 10/22/18 purchase contract *** with your Plantation Resort Property in Surfside Beach SC
On 10/24/18 we called your agents*** who handled the paperwork, sales person Catherine *** and sent certified mail stating this within the 14 day cancellation window They sent me a letter dated Nov 15 saying the need 90 days to investigate my claim and not to do anything 01/06/2018 they took $318 out of our bank account The head salesman *** was tricky and deliberately misleading after 5 hours he finally gave my husband his bank card back after we signed. When we realized what we signed we were very upset I had told *** that we were on a fixed income and could not afford to buy anything

Desired Outcome

Cancel the entire contract

I am filing this complaint based on the misrepresentation I've encountered with Plantation Resorts.
I am filing this complaint due to my negative experience with Plantation Resort and their timeshare program. I attended a presentation and was approached by several sales representatives who sold this offer off as a one-time only deal, or I would lose out of the benefits. I put my trust in Plantation Resort sales representatives that they were advertising their product accurately and truthfully when in fact they were not. For example, at the time I signed the contract I was verbally told I could sell it at any time or they would even buy it back from me, I confirmed and reconfirmed this information before agreeing. When I could not access any availability and again when my financial issues began I asked them if I could sell it or just take my lose and sell it back to them and I was told that they would not buy it back and that the only way I could sell it was once I had paid off the mortgage and that I would have to try and sell it on my own. This risk-free option of having an exit option if needed was pivotal in my reason for purchasing. Had I known the truth I would have refused the offer.
I have sent Plantation Resort five letters explaining the misrepresentation, and they only responded to two of the letters and neither touch on the issues I have brought forth. The response I received include this statement .... We employ the same business practices common in the timeshare industry, and we do not consider any of these practices to be predatory or fraudulent... Their response only backs up the fraudulent activity and refuses to address it. If the resorts are presenting the program correctly, they would not have included a clause in my contract that states that I should ignore any verbal representation that does not match the information in the contract. The resort essentially gives itself the legal right to lie during a presentation. Had Plantation Resort representatives accurately advertised the program; I wouldn't be in this predicament.

Desired Outcome

I can't justify remaining an owner with their company when the timeshare program offers no functionality or usability, and the sales reps lied for the sake of making a profit. I will stand firm on having this contract terminated.

We have bee n owners with Plantation since 2012 and have continued to have disappointment after disappointment.
A lot of the information that we were given during the presentation was not the best or honest. We have committed to upgrades which have not brought about any benefits whatsoever. We have yet been able to book reservations with our Plantation Resort. Another concern of ours is money. Being in our 60s, we are both retired and live in a fixed income household. This is making it hard to keep up with the monthly bills brought on by this timeshare. When the timeshare was purchased, we were fooled into believing that it was affordable but we have found out the hard way that is not. The constant need for extra money is making it impossible for us ever to use our points as we barely can afford the monthly payments. Also, it being a requirement to join RCI is something we had not been informed about until after the papers were signed. We expressed that we could barely afford this purchase.Once we realized all of this, it was clear to us that we needed to find a way out of this contract. We tried reselling the timeshare back to the resort as it had been informed to us we could. When speaking with the resort about this, they informed us that they did no such thing. This being one more lies being told to us! Now we are asking for YOUR assistance as we desperately need a way out and are clueless of how to go about with such.

Desired Outcome

We are looking to have this timeshare cntract cancelled and any debt associated with timeshare removed.

I have contacted Plantation Resort several times about concerns I have with my ownership, but they will not respond.
I wrote to them that due to health and mobility issues my ability to travel is extremely limited. I have bad knees which are troublesome when maneuvering on any sort of step. In addition, I have vertigo which is problematic for any sort of traveling. I also take medication for depression and mood stabilization. Of course, the stress of this ownership weighs heavy on my mind and worsens my condition. Obviously, my health is of paramount importance and is my first priority.

At the meeting I told the sales personnel that I could not afford the additional costs, but the sales representative was relentless in trying to convince me that I could absorb the extra expenses. For the next couple of hours, I was shown various plans and levels. My sales agent assured me that they could work out a deal that would fit in my budget. During the discussions, she encouraged me to purchase premium weeks that would give me more reservation power. *** talked about how, with the premium weeks, I could rent out my timeshare to pay my fees and make a little extra money. She went over a lot of information throughout the presentation. However, she did not tell me anything about what to do if I wanted to cancel the purchase.

Desired Outcome

My predicament is that I find that I can no longer travel and yet I own a timeshare. Due to my aforementioned condition, I am seeking relief from my timeshare ownership. However, I would not be in this predicament if not for the untoward behavior of Plantation's sales associates. As such, I request that my contract be cancelled, my account closed, and a refund issued. I reiterate that I have attempt to contact their office multiple times and expect a prompt response this time.
