Long story short.. the sales department were EXTREMELY PUSHY (I'm a sales person so this is saying a lot) and Technician was RUDE.
Long story: I called ADT to receive information on their systems, pricing, packages and promotions. I had started the conversation letting them know that I was shopping around and would not be making a decision today. She immediately got me on the line with their Promotions manager who was extremely pushy. She let me know what promotions she had for me and insisted that someone meet with me in the morning to show me the equipment in person and if I choose to move forward at that time he would be able to install. I told her that I was not able to make that decision. She insisted that it was just an appointment to show me the equipment in person and how it all works and that I did not have to have him install if I did not want to move forward. When I finally caved in, she told me that I had to pay the $99 activation fee to secure the deal she was giving me and she would immediately mail me a gift card for the $99 If I signed the contract the next day. I told her I did not feel comfortable giving out my credit card info over the phone and was not certain I wanted to go with them so I did not want to pay an activation fee. She pushed and pushed and pushed (I should have just hung up but I am a sucker). So after her telling me that if I did not go with them after meeting with the tech, that I would be immediately refunded my $108 ($99 plus tax). I asked her if it would immediately hit my account back and she insisted that it was just a "hold" and if I did not sign the contract it would be immediately released. So I went a head and set it up the morning meeting (terrible decision). The tech showed up, came in with zero equipment and awkwardly stood there. I explained to him that he was there to show me the equipment and then that I was to let him know if I wanted to move forward or not. He pulled out a pamplet and said "here is the equipment". I explained to him that he was supposed to show me it all in person and how it all works. He pointed at the pamplet and said that was everything and half way explained the items. My husband and I felt so incredibly uncomfortable and I felt that he was not explaining anything to me as I had been told he would. I told him thank you for coming to explain everything and that I did not want to move forward. He responded back in an irritated manner "well I'm going to have to call someone then..". He went outside for about 10 minutes talking on the phone then came in saying his manager wanted to talk to me. Why? I have already stated that I do not wish to move forward at this time. I went a head and took the phone. The manager asked me what reasons I was not signing the contract. I explained to him that I was told that I did not have to make a decision today and that the purpose was to show me the equipment which did not happen. I told him I did not wish to move forward and that I feel that everyone has been very pushy. After a few sales pitches he finally let me off the phone. The tech then went on to tell my husband and I that he drove a pointless hour and a half drive to our house (I am honestly surprised there wasn't a tech here in Baton Rouge - not sure where he was coming from) and that he doesn't get paid if we don't sign up. I informed him that I had told the rep that insisted on me having this appointment that I was not ready to make a decision. I told him that she was very pushy and I persistently told her I didn't want to send someone out yet and I am sorry he feels that we wasted his time. He half assed shook our hand and walked out of the door and.. slammed it. I kid you not.. the guy slammed our door. I am a realtor and I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone. I decided to go with the competitor that was informative when I called and was willing to give me time to think about everything without requiring any money down. The technician was pleasant and explained everything to me in great detail.
