Good morning I called Mr. [redacted]  on Wednesday the 11 to let him know that we got a few days behind due to the rain, He was very polite and respectful the day I called him, He came in the day after he seemed to be upset and started to be demanding and would not let me get a word in. There was...

a customer in the store that even told me that Mr.[redacted] was very disrespectful. He's car was and is a big project and is taking longer then was anticipated, when it come to changing a full 1/4 panel on a car things can take longer. Mr.[redacted] said we broke his rear window that is not true. I never told him that in any way. I had to order special order parts from the dealer that we just got this Monday. We gave Mr. [redacted] a great deal in repairing his car and with a great discount from the very beginning due to being a retired service member. We are working to get his car back to him a.s.a.p. we take great value on are work and we do not rush things, mostly on jobs like this safety is 1st. If there anything I can do please feel free to let me know thank you for your time in this mater.

Review: On 7/12/13 I sent my car to be painted the same color (OEM), which included prep-work, and wet-sand and buff. On 8/1/13 I was told that the car was ready for pick-up. Upon arrival I noticed that my car was painted a deep red(maroon). The sales associate. [redacted], told me the following day that they will paint the car the right color and told me that they would prep the car. I agreed to this since I did not have to pay, and told [redacted] that I want the maroon paint totally removed then painted. A week later on 8/7/13 I went to pick up the car to noticed that there were much signs of little to no prep-work done to my car. Example: black moldings on the car had overspray, as well as the mirrors and windows. In addition, the targa top(removable roof) was painted over; therefore if I were to use this feature then there is a chance for the paint surrounding the roof area would be damaged which would void my "warranty". The car was also painted the incorrect kind of blue and did not match the door hinge(OEM) color like I had originally asked for. Also, I noticed that after bringing the car home that the paint on the body was already peeling and it has not even been a week yet! After complaining and trying to follow up, no one has been contacting or keeping me up to date. I am extremely disappointed with the service.

In addition, although we were told that we would have a warranty, they failed to provided a proper written warranty of what is covered.Desired Settlement: There are one of two desired outcomes I want:

1.) Repair completely

-Strip off the maroon layer of paint

-Prep the car, PROPERLY

-Remove paint off of car moldings

-Repaint OEM color(in accordance to door hinge)

OR 2.) Complete Refund

-Complete refund so I may have a decent paint job at a more competent paintshop

Note: This will be the last time I visit this shop, I want it done right. I want to be properly contacted on a DAILY basis in order for me to keep up to date with the status with my car. If it will be prepared I want the manager([redacted]) to personally see to it that it is done correctly

Response:

Hi I am the manager ([redacted]) at Platinum Auto Sports in San Diego. I have talk to [redacted] about Mr. [redacted] and his paint job. Mr [redacted] and [redacted] picked out the color out of a Sherman Williams color code book and we also fixed his bumper and did some body work on his car. The paint shop pained the car the wrong code so we had them redo the car in the right color. For his inconvenience we did a wet sand and buff that is a $350.00 at no extra charge. After picking up his car [redacted] said that he was very happy with the paint job. A week later Mr. [redacted] said that his paint was pealing. [redacted] has been talking to Mr. [redacted] and has set up a appointment to fix his car on Aug 26.2013 We at Platinum Auto do our very best to take care of all our customers. If you have any questions please feel free to give ma a call 619-238-3503 Thank you

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I personally was under the impression that this shop was "the best" in San Diego. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The final product that was presented to me was below average because it had small dust particles under the paint, overspray STILL on the mouldings as well as the mirrors even after they "promised" to remove it. The "touch-up" was also half-baked and who ever was responsible for "touching-up" my car just made it worse(I mean seriously, I could have done that myself and I would have had MUCH better results). Anyways after ~2 months of waiting and finally obtaining my car I can honestly say that this shop is a disappointment to me, as well as a waste of money. I did not want to say anything because I was just tired of their service. In a perfect world, they would redo my entire car and remove all these blemishes, unfortunately they do not care about perfection in the slightest. Rather, they just want to do the bare minimum. I will not be returning to this shop and I will tell my friends and family to stray away from this shop. If the way they painted my car was considered "Excellent" to them. Then they must have extremely low standards. All I want is a proper, written and oral apology from all the individuals involved with the painting of my car (Toyota Supra 88') including the "boss" of PAS, apologizing for giving me such a below average paint job and for wasting so much of my time. I would like an oral as well as a written apology from [redacted] the sales associate, the paint shop manager, and the "boss" of Platinum Auto Sports; for giving my car a below average paint job.

Review: About six months ago I turned a vehicle over to them for work (a new bumper and paint). To start, I clearly expressed to the "manager", Able, that I wanted the front bumper replaced ONLY if it included the fog lights that came stock on the vehicle, they removed & replaced the bumper w/o the said feature and for the work he charged me two-thousand-seven-hundred dollars anyway. I still have all the invoices & paperwork as well. Soon after we dropped off the vehicle I got deployed into active duty, I notified the "manager" I would be designating a driver to recover the vehicle. 2.5 months passed while on my deployment, I contacted him once I coordinated with a driver back home to retrieve the vehicle, he told me, "Oh, sorry bro, I thought you forgot about it, and the vehicle is already in the companies name, but we sent out certified letters to you." According to Able they had attempted to take legal possession of the vehicle without any notification to me. Then he even flat out lied and stated he tried to call and he said, "the number was out of service or something." Or something? We had listed multiple numbers on the invoice, all of which have been active continuously; we never received any correspondence what-so-ever, even when he promised to follow up with us he still would not call back. He lied and continued to stall for time. Meanwhile, they are trying to charge us $45 per day, this is not right. They continuously dodged our calls and when they did answer, he would say the owner is not in, I'll have to contact you tomorrow. We waited and they would not call back. They have been intentionally avoiding contact with us in order to continue to charge an exorbitant storage fee of $45.00 per day. We would call back very frequently, asking if he had spoke with the owner, and he had always said he hadn't or the owner wasn't available that day. By this point over three months had passed, with help from the Air Force's legal team, I sent out a letter stating we were not relinquishing ownership of the vehicle, and FINALLY a call from them, he told me the owner wanted three-thousand dollars in addition to the two-thousand-seven-hundred dollars already paid.Desired Settlement: Platinum Auto Sports has neglected correspondence, I demand that Platinum Auto Sports return my vehicle, but I am willing to accept refund of the charges for the unauthorized repairs in lieu of the vehicle, despite the fact that I would be literally giving away my car. Furthermore, if this issue is not resolved, I reserve my right to pursue this matter to which non-resolution may subject you to administrative, civil and criminal liability.

They are trying to keep my car, I just want my money back for the repairs I will never get to see.

Review: On the 4th of March 2013, I dropped my car off at the Main street location for the following work to be completed: Paint and body work on the back bumper, Install a new passenger window motorTint the rear window. I paid a total of $455.00. When I picked up my vehicle, the rear window tint was full of air bubles and what appeared to be dird between the windown and tint. The door panel was not put on correctly and there was overspray on the sides of my car. Additionally the rear bumper had air bubbles and chips in the paint. I dropped my car off the following week to have the bumper repaired and over spray removed. A few days later when I was picking up my car I was told that the work on my bumper was not completed as originally discussed. The paint was never removed; they simply fixed the damaged area and repainted the bumper. I noticed some additional bubbles on the bumper and some paint runs that were not fixed during this visit. Additionally, I discovered that the lower seat belt retention clip was broken.I contacted [redacted] again to schedule for the work to be completed once more. I also informed him that I need a rental car or some other type of loaner because I couldnt be without a car for another week while they fixed the issues with their original work. The answer I was given on the rental car was were not a rental car place and we dont do that or words to that affect. The best they could do was to put a rush on my car. I said I wasnt satisfied with that answer and was told by [redacted] he would contact the owner and call me back by 5pm. That was Friday the 19th of April. I didnt hear anything back from Platinum Auto Sports until I called them on Tuesday the 23rd asking for a resolution. I was also informed the seat belt retention clip was discontinued and there was nothing they could do about it. They worked on my bumper two more times and the work is still less than satisfactory. After the 3rd attempt at fixed my bumper, I accepted it because I didn't trust them any longer.Desired Settlement: I would like a partial refund of 350.00 of the 455.00 that was paid, for the unsatisfactory work and to replace the seat belt retention clip, when that part come available

Regards,

Review: I ordered a set of wheels and tires from here in Nov 2012. I was told that the set I ordered was out of stock and would not be in until January 2013. I accepted terms, and paid a $2,000 deposit. January goes by and I do not hear anything from them. The first week of February I contacted the company to find out what was going on. They tell me the set was being shipped from over seas and would take longer than expected to clear customs. I am told that I will have them in about two weeks. Again I agree. Three weeks go by and I do not hear from them. The first week of March I make contact again, and they tell me that the set was discontinued by the manufacturer, and that they cannot fill the order. I asked for a refund and they tell me they cannot return my money that I should just order something else. When I refused to order a different set, they said they will ask around to other dealers to see if they have any in stock and I could have a set in about 6months. I refused to accept those terms and explained I am leaving the military and moving out of state in the coming weeks. Now each time I call or go into the store someone tells me that they cannot help and I need to speak to a manager; I need to leave a message with my name and number and one will call me back, and no one ever does. I have not heard from them in almost 2 months now after leaving over 10 messages.Desired Settlement: I would like to have my deposit of $2,000 refunded before I leave the state.

Response:

I have talked to Mr. [redacted] and have told him that the wheels are still on back order. We have never told him the wheels are discontinued. We offered Mr. [redacted] the option to choose a different set of wheels from the very beginning. It was his decision to wait for the wheels. We have called him and told him that the wheels are still on back order. I called Ultra Wheels personally and they said "the wheels are still being made and are on back order; they might be available some time in July." Mr. [redacted] knew it would take time for this particular set of wheels. But he insisted that these were the wheels he wanted and would wait until they are available for his vehicle. On the receipt that Mr. [redacted] signed it also states: All sales are final! there are no returns or refunds on special orders. If he like to choose a different set we can help. If there is any other way I can assist you feel free to call me at our san diego store: ###-###-#### my name is [redacted].
