Review: I made the mistake of buying a minivan from Platinum Motors. After I saw the ad, I called and talked to the owner and mentioned that the van was listed for less than similar minivans. I specifically asked if there was anything wrong with it or if it was just priced to move. He assured me that it was in good shape, and he was looking to move it quickly because he had taken it as a trade-in. He said hes happy just making a couple hundred dollars on trade-ins.Im a reasonable person. I understand that buying used cars is always a gamble. I drove the thing for one week and had the following things all go wrong:When I test drove the car, the power steering shuddered a bit but was fine after I left the parking lot. I figured the car would still be a good deal even with that one issue. But it got a lot worse the next week.On the drive home the A/C started blowing hot air and needed Freon. The transmission also started making a clunking noise the next day.Two days later the tailgate motor stopped working. It seems to be stuck. One week after buying it, the water pump failed causing it to overheat and the head gasket blew. After the tow truck dropped it off at my house, the guy noticed that the battery was dead. Apparently having the hazards on for 40 minutes was too much for it. I had it tested, and it needs to be replaced.ALL IN ONE WEEK!!A car with 160k miles will have things go wrong. But 7 things in one week? No way. Platinum Motors sold me a lemon, and they knew it. The owner lied to me on the phone when I asked straight up if there was anything wrong with it.And after explaining all that went wrong with it, they refused to make it right. He said it must have been my bad driving.Im going to see if the lemon laws can help me, and if not, Im taking them to small claims court.Do yourself a favor, and dont do business with Platinum Motors in Sacramento. These guys are shady and unprofessional.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund of my money.

Response:

To whom this May concern, I [redacted] am responding to complaint number [redacted] From my understanding customer is complaining about several different issues that happened all in a matter of one week I'm also aware that customer made these complaints about the vehicle 3 weeks into having the car. The customer took the car out for a test drive prior to purchasing the vehicle and was also allowed the option of taking the vehicle to a third party mechanic befor also purchasing it. Vehicle was smogged and inspected prior to sale for any issues be for car was even put on the lot for sale. Customer also at the point of sale is offered a warranty witch he had declined an also declined contract cancelation agreement. If this has answered all questions in regards to this claim or for further question please contact me.

Thank You.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because several of the things that [redacted] said are untrue. I was not offered a warranty or cancelation agreement. In fact, his salesman specifically said that they weren't available for this vehicle. I wish I had recognized that as a red flag.

Review: I used my financial aid school check to purchase a car for Platinum Motors. When I walked in the office I spoke with ,[redacted] the business dealer, I spoke with him about how, I needed a reliable car that ran because I was starting my new job on October 27,2014.I drove up the street and back and felt good about this Chrysler,LHS(Sedan Body Type) year 2000. [redacted] assured me that this car was guaranteed to last me a while. The car was reasonable price. It was 2,995.00 I had 2,000.00 in hand so [redacted] in house financed me.I owed a year on it which I have made a payment of 239.00 in November 2014. The next day of only having the vehicle one day the car began to overheat and broke down on me on my way home from work.I immediately called [redacted] and took the car back so that he can put in a brand new water pump, which was free of free of charge for me.The mechanic that [redacted],has too about a week to repair the the water pump.I then got the vehicle back in my possession for about two weeks and I was driving down broad way with my child in the car ,near buy the dealership(Platinum Motors)taking a friend to the grocery store.Next thing I know the car shuts completely down and I call for a ride .The next day I call and tell Walter the night salesman that my car was broke down across the street and to tow there and find out what was wrong with it.This happen about two days after I make my first payment in November 2014.They have the car for about two weeks asking me if I knew, what was wrong and I had no clue I told him to ask his "Licensed" mechanic.I told them to check it top to bottom ,even the gas tank for sugar. Two days after that [redacted] stated there was sugar in my tank.He stated that he did not want to leave me hanging, but I was still responsible, but he would finance me again this time, through the bank because it was almost 90 days at my new job.So I decided to finally paid a mobile mechanic named [redacted] go look at it he instantly noticed that the timing belt was broke and had not been changed ,it was 14 years old.Desired Settlement: I ask that I received a total of 2497.00 back in cash. The 2,000.00 down payment and a 239.00 payment, and 240.00 payment towards repairs.

Review: I bought a car from Platinum Motors on April 21st 2014. The make and model is a 2005 Dodge Charger. Upon purchase of the vehicle the owner said if anything was wrong with the car he would have his mechanic fix the problem. The very next day , April 22nd 2014 the car kept stopping abrubtly and wouldnt move from time to time. We went to the dealership the next day, and they did an oil change. They also put in transmission stop slip instead of transmission fluid. That indicated right then and there that something was wrong with the transmission. On the way home the car would not switch gears and it stopped and was unable to move from then on. I called the office and the secretary said they didnt have a tow truck , and to try to make it there. But I was unable because the car would not move. We sat in the area for 30 mins then 1 of the Platinum Motor mechanics came to push us out of the street. We went back to Platinum Motors and the mechanic informed the secretary that it was the transmission. The secretary called the owner and told him the transmission was bad and he told me that he would have it fixed and it would take 2 days. Its been 2 weeks ive been without a car , I ve been missing work and so has my husband. During the course of the 2 weeks, which were suppose to be 2 days, Ive been calling and getting the run around the whole time. Now on May 5th 2014 , The secretary informed me that I bought the car as is, and informed me that the owner would not complete the repair but we could go have on a new transmission which is 2000 dollars. In the course of me not having a car, the company said they did not have a loaner car, I lost my job because I had no transportation. I have not even had the car for a full 24 hours. The owner is not answering my phone calls or returning my phone calls. My job requires me to have a car , I work with the eldery and disabled, I have to take them to doctors appointment, grocery shopping etc..... Since I was not able to perform these actions my employer let me go.Desired Settlement: I either want my full refund back that I put down on the car which was 2000 dollars. Or I want the car repaired and in my possession, with documentation to prove the repair.

Review: On August 10, 2014 I purchased a used car 2005 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro with a total value of $9722.55, Odemeter Mileage of 167,924 miles from Platinum Motors Dealership, 5670 Stockton Boulevard in Sacramento, CA 95824. I purchased this car for my son to use for school and other daily activities. Before purchasing the car my son and I test drove the car and found out the air conditioning was not blowing out the cool air, driver side window glass not moving, and a whistling sound coming from the right side of car. I was told that everything will be repaired and that they will make an appointment with their Auto Repair Shop to fix all those problems. I asked the dealer if everything else is working fine with the car and the dealer said yes, everything is working fine.

Believing the dealership of what they had said regarding getting the car repaired/fixed by them, I filled out my application to get the loan financed with a down payment of $2500.00 cash. They pulled my credit report and gave me an estimate monthly payment and told me the finance company (bank) will call me for more details in a few days. I purchased the car, signed the documents and then drove the car home. While I was driving her the car home the ‘check engine light’ came up and the whistling sound got loud and louder.

I called back to the dealer from my cell phone and told him about the problem. The dealer told me as soon as he gets the appointment from the auto repair shop he will let me know but he did not know when exactly that will be. I requested im if the car can be fixed before my son’s school open on August 14, 2014 and he said he will try that. He also told me that if I have my own mechanic to fix the car to go ahead and the dealership will pay for all the expenses but he needed explanation/estimate from my mechanic before any repair is done. Next day I went to my mechanic’s auto repair shop (Diamond Auto Shop) to have my car checked and get the quotation. My car was checked and the following problems were found by the Diamond Auto Repair Shop:

1) The driver side window glass was not working – window regulator needed.

2) Turbo making noise – needed new turbocharger.

3) Oil leeks.

4) All four brakes worn out – Front less than 3 mm left and back brake pads almost to the metal.

5) Axle – leaking grease (boot busted/open).

6) Air conditioning (A/C) not working.

7) Top engine cover missing

8) Suspension making noise near front passenger side.

9) Check engine light on – car will not pass smog test

10) Front Bumper – loose and falling apart.

The Diamond Auto shop gave me an estimate for repair over the phone and then I called the dealer and gave him the estimate cost of repair. The dealer told me it sounds very expensive and he will have it repaired at a much cheaper price. He told me to leave the car at the dealership and he will have it fixed. On August 13, 2014 I took the car to the dealer with the list of problems that my mechanic gave me and handed over the car and the list to the receptionist as the manager was not there at the time. I was told that everything will be fixed by the dealer.

After three days I called to check the status of the car and I was told the car was in an auto repair shop waiting for the parts. I waited for another three days and again checked the status of my car. I was told by the dealer that the car will be fixed by the end of the day (5 p.m.) and the dealer will call me once the car is delivered. I was never called to pick my car. For the next several days I was told the same thing over again and again. My car was in the auto repair shop for ten (10) days. On the tenth day I told the dealer that I needed the car by today and they told me I can go and pick it from the auto shop in the afternoon. On August 22, 2014. I went to the auto repair shop at 3430 33rd Avenue. Sacramento CA. and talked to Mr. [redacted] . Mr. [redacted] told me that only the driver side window has been fixed in these ten days. Nothing else was fixed or required as promised. I called the dealership and they confirmed this.

On August 26, 2014. I took my car to Diamond Auto Repair Shop (my mechanic shop) and left the car for repair. The following repair work was completed:

a) Turbocharger was ordered and replaced – whistling noise was gone.

b) Suspension bolt was tightened – noise was gone.

c) Diverter Bulb was not working – was also replaced.

d) Turbo Boost Valve was broken – Replaced.

e) Air Conditioning (AC) repaired.

This repair took the auto shop only one and a half days

The following repairs are yet to be completed in the car

I. All four wheels brakes needs to be changed – poses a security issue

II. Axle replacement - Right Hand Side.

III. Oil leakage need to be fixed.

IV. Engine top cover need to be replaced – was missing whensold.

V. Front bumper need to be replaced – falling apart.

VI. Check engine light still on – will not pass my smog test

It looks like the car did not undergo safety inspection before being sold. To me this car falls under the LEMON CAR LAW.

I had few more mechanics check my car and they told me the engine is all messed up and it consumes far more gas than a regular car of this kind. They said this car will never pass the smog registration and license plate yet from the DMV.Desired Settlement: My request to you is that I am no longer interested in this car and I want to return it back to the dealership. This is because the dealership has cheated me and did not fulfill its promise to repair the car. It took them (10) days to repair only the driver side glass regulator.

The safety of the car is the biggest concern to me as it is being used by my 17 year old son and I don’t want to give him this car with all these problems and defects. I had put down payment of $2500.00 and the rest has been financed. I want the dealer to take back the car and cancel my loan agreement with the financial company and refund my down payment.

I have already paid over $1200.00 in repairs for the car and there are still far more problems to be fixed that will cost me a lot of money. I want the dealer to refund my repair cost also.

If you need anymore information, please feel free to contact me. My contact information is found below.

Review: I have several complaints. The latest one being I paid $6700.00 for my car 6 mo. Ago was told license plates reg and pink slip would be mailed I still haven't received anything. I called and went personally down there to discuss this and was told it would be arriving soon. I just got a ticket for driving my car illegally.Desired Settlement: I'm so tired of dealing with this place ...my car has broken down since the first day I've complained about timing belt breaking the check engine light coming on 50 miles down the road day of purchase diagnostic stating o2 cencor (smog) starter going to go out ( they had my car 4 days without replacing anything) put 400 miles on it while in their possession...there's more!
