Review: I called Platt's to come and give me a battery jump on my vehicle. My battery died because I had a flat tired and a man stopped to help me fix it, but when I got back in my car, the battery was dead. This was on a back country road and very late a night.

Platt's came and jumped it, the process couldn't of taken more that 2 minutes. He then said that I needed to pay him in cash, that it would be $100.00. I told him I could write him a check because I didn't have that much cash on me and he said he had to have cash. He said he would follow me into town to the ATM.

Upon driving there, I felt extremely unnerved- he kept driving very close to me, I felt my car start to wobble and I knew it was because of the spare tire. I pulled over because I did not feel safe driving it anymore, definitely not down a highway with a tow truck tailgating me.

I explained this to the driver and I said that I was not comfortable with him following me and he said he would tow my car if I didn't pay him and I asked him to send me a bill, to which he yelled "No!" and said that I had to pay him cash. He then proceeded to get into his truck, pulled around to the front of my car and started backing up into while I was inside of it. I pulled around him and drove to my mother's house.

He followed me there and started yelling at my mother, she told him to leave and he wouldn't.

The driver called the police and I was shaking so badly at this point, I couldn't even really speak with him. I do suffer from [redacted] and a [redacted] and I can sense when a panic attack is about to happen, or when there are certain triggers- what this man did to me was inexcusable. Not only did he over charge me once he saw that I was a young woman, but he put my life at risk by tailgating me, and driving around me recklessly. It just floors me that there is a business that can behave this way and it not be against some type of business standards set.

I asked him to stop following me because I felt uncomfortable. He used derogatory language towards me and his overall tone and body language was intimidating.Desired Settlement: I do believe that there should be an adjustment to my bill because I don't believe that they charge everyone $100.00 for a simple jump. I would like this matter to be looked into and also the tow truck driver should have to apologize for his extremely unprofessional behavior last night. I've worked in corrections, domestic violence and in probation and parole- I am not easily intimidated, but this man truly frightened me.

Response:

Im sorry for any hard feelings, but we meant no harm or hard feelings. I hope you understand that we need to get paid for our services or we would'nt be able to stay in buisness. Also I dont feel that my driver overcharged at all for the services rendered. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Review: on the 10th of february, 2014 whiole driving to chicago my truck broke down in the wisconsin dells. on the advice of the hotel manager where I had to spend the night I brought it to [redacted]'s garage the next morning. mr [redacted] diagnosed the problem as the front wheel bearing/hubs being bad. his shop replaced both hubs, left and right, on my truck and I was on the road again. three weeks later when back in minneapolis the right front hub went bad, I took the truck to my local shop and they removed the defective part [redacted]'s put in and installed a new one. five days later when driving back to chicago I stopped at [redacted]'s garage and returned the part to [redacted] for a credit, the part and labor where covered under warranty as it had been less than 30 days . he accepted the part and told me that [redacted] would be sending me a refund directly. he also asked me to send him the bill and paid receipt from the shop who did the repairs in minneapolis. I did this a couple days later and when I had not received a refund check three weeks later I contacted [redacted] regional office and they informed me they DO NOT send refunds to consumers. I than called [redacted] and he told me he was waiting for a check from [redacted] and would be paying me that week. four more weeks went by with no check so I sent [redacted] a certified letter asking for my refund with no reply. two more weeks went by so I called the [redacted] parts store in the wisconsin dells where [redacted] bought the part and they informed me returned the part for credit on his account days after I returned it to him, I than called [redacted] again and he acted as if he didnt know who I was and could not remember the issue, when pushed on it he said he would have a refund check to me the next week, this was 2 weeks ago and nothing has arrived. mr [redacted] has shown himself to be less than honest in his business dealings and I would caution anyone before taking a car to them for repairs.Desired Settlement: follow through with the promises he has made to me about a refund. the part he installed went bad, this is unfortunate but it happens, he needs to do the right thing and be an honest merchant.

I spoke with Mr. [redacted] this morning and informed him I would be mailing him a refund for the parts and labor. I apoligize for the delay but It will be getting taken care of this week.

Having been told, by [redacted] at 9am that somebody would look at my car at 11. I call at 12 to ask if they have looked at my can and he tells me no he's busy and just hangs up. Since I had gone tubing I couldn't call back till around 630 or 7. I get [redacted] on phone and he says I'm at a wreck I'll call you back and just hangs up, again. I decide to go up to the garage to find my car in the same spot I left it. I spoke to a guy who was there buffing a trailer and told him my problem. I asked him what would he do and he said bring it somewhere else. I got in my car to leave and here comes two tow trucks. I get out of the car to see if it was [redacted] and the first guy was [redacted] and he said [redacted] was behind him. I approach [redacted] and tell him who I was and asked what happen that no one looked at my car and he said I was busy. I asked him why he didn't just tell me that he was going to be to busy to look at my car that I might have been able to bring it somewhere else and his response was oh well get your piece of [redacted] and get the [redacted] of my property. Mind you I never raised my voice to this man. I was in shock at his response. I said are you serious that's how you speak to your customer and he said yeah now get your piece of [redacted] and get the [redacted] off my property. This man is a sorry excuse of a business owner and doesn't belong in the service industry.

We were on our way back to Chicago and had a problem with a front tire. We called Bob and even though the garage was closed, he agreed to meet us there. He discovered that the tire had not been put on properly at our garage in Chicago. He put the tire on properly and wouldn't charge us for the service. I wish we lived closer so we could use his garage for everything!
