Customer brought in a sandrail on 3-11-that was not running and missing a lot parts. He was quoted an approx cost of what it would take to get car running. He was also given and estimated completion date of end of October 2015. Customer agreed to estimate and
left deposit of $towards parts. After I started work on the vehicle I discovered his car had the wrong adapter plate and a new one would need to be orderedWithin a couple of weeks, we started ordering parts knowing that they could take a while to get. We started assembly on brake lines, seat, radiator, fuel tank, installed the battery tray, installed his pedals and turn brake (which was old and needed to be rebuilt). I place the order for a new one w/ KEP and it was shipped on 8-7-15. We were then able to proceed with the repair to install engine and then able to continue work on the vehicle.
For the next months we were plumbing brake lines, wiring, installing the fuel system, and building aluminum dash, custom hood and front aluminum work. I requested customer to come by to approve dash and decide on what gauges he wanted. On his original invoice he had a budget of gauges for $175. Customer (after weeks of deciding) wanted SpeedHut gauges but didn't know if he could afford them at $(Work had to stop on the dash because we couldn't continue further until gauges were installed) Still gave no definitive answer, so I made executive decision to purchase gauges within his budget and as close to what he wanted because deadline was approaching. Gauges were purchased from *** *** ** not ***He was charged on his invoice for $255, not $as he stated(See attached invoice) Customer approved them and they were installed.
Customer was also given a substantial credit for old parts (with his knowledge) that were not compatible to his transmission. Customer had CV flanges on his transmission and spline flanges on his rear arms(His parts were impossible to make compatible with his transmission.) I told him how much the new Pro-X rear hubs and brake kit were and he said no way. I told him I could help him sell unusable rear brake kit to someone with a smaller engine and transmission. He said OK. I sold them for $and asked him to pay the difference of $for the new Jamar kit. I adjusted his invoice to reflect the new price. I have several witnesses to this conversation
There were numerous custom parts made for that car including the dash, hood, front aluminum panels, upper rear roof wing, etc. with not one complaint by the customer when he came to see it. As far as us not putting his wiring in the frame, I did not want to drill holes in his chassis and take a chance of his frame cracking. We replaced with correct parts at a highly discounted rate
During the time of service, customer changed mind several times and added upgraded parts therefore raising the cost of repair and extending the completion date. The customer wanted additional work done and in the end refused to pay for additional requested itemsFor example, he added an upper roof wing, lighted buggy whips. I had asked numerous times for another deposit and his reply was finish the car and then I will pay you. I finally said fine, finished the car and before Thanksgiving he came down to pay for it and pick it up.
When we went to test drive it all of his gears were in reverse, the transmission was no good (not my fault or anything to do with Playtech, the transmission was in his car when he first delivered it to us). He got beyond angry and was screaming and yelling and swearing profanities at me. There were many witnesses to verify this including my son who was scared and had to get other customers to help me
I told him to calm down, I will take the engine and transmission out of the car then next day for FREE (normally a $charge) and bring it to*** *** so they can fix it at my cost He paid the transmission shop, I picked it up and reinstalled it. It was ready for pick up on Dec.4, 2015.
Once again he came to pick up vehicle and pay for the parts and labor on the car and refused to pay his bill. Then again, he became irate saying I'm only paying for a total of $7500. I told him he has to pay for the extra upgrades he wanted and the total is $9800.
After another hour of getting yelled at, I decided I had to have him leave my shop so I took most of my labor of months off the invoiceHe picked up his car with over $worth of parts on it. I'm not understanding what he is asking for. He can't keep both- over $worth of parts and have his money back. I am the one who has already taken a loss on this project. We work on an average of or more cars at a time, some take over years to build due to custom parts and customer decisions. I did apologize because there were a lot of unknown answers that I feel were out of my control that determined the finish date

Customer brought in a sandrail on 3-11-15 that was not running and missing a lot parts.  He was quoted an approx cost of what it would take to get car running.  He was also given and estimated completion date of end of October 2015.  Customer agreed to estimate and left deposit of $1500 towards parts.  After I started work on the vehicle I discovered his car had the wrong adapter plate and a new one would need to be ordered. Within a couple of weeks, we started ordering parts knowing that they could take a while to get.
For the next 2 months we were plumbing brake lines, wiring, installing the fuel system, and building aluminum dash, custom hood and front aluminum work.  I requested customer to come by to approve dash and decide on what gauges he wanted.  On his original invoice he had a budget of 3 gauges for $175.  Customer (after 3 weeks of deciding) wanted SpeedHut gauges but didn't know if he could afford them at $750. (Work had to stop on the dash because we couldn't continue further until gauges were installed) Still gave no definitive answer, so I made executive decision to purchase gauges within his budget and as close to what he wanted because deadline was approaching.  Gauges were purchased from [redacted] not [redacted]. He was charged on his invoice for $255, not $300 as he stated. (See attached invoice)  Customer approved them and they were installed.
Customer was also given a substantial credit for old parts (with his knowledge) that were not compatible to his transmission. Customer had 934 CV flanges on his transmission and 28 spline 930 flanges on his rear arms. (His parts were impossible to make compatible with his transmission.) I told him how much the new 934 Pro-X rear hubs and brake kit were and he said no way.  I told him I could help him sell unusable rear brake kit to someone with a smaller engine and transmission.  He said OK. I sold them for $600 and asked him to pay the difference of $900 for the new Jamar kit. I adjusted his invoice to reflect the new price. I have several witnesses to this conversation.

After another hour of getting yelled at, I decided I had to have him leave my shop so I took most of my labor of 6 months off the invoice. He picked up his car with over $7000 worth of parts on it.  I'm not understanding what he is asking for.  He can't keep both- over $7000 worth of parts and have his money back.  I am the one who has already taken a loss on this project.  We work on an average of 20 or more cars at a time, some take over 2 years to build due to custom parts and customer decisions.  I did apologize because there were a lot of unknown answers that I feel were out of my control that determined the finish date.
