Signed a pool contract on 3/26– Correct
Pool was to be installed by 5/25 Memorial Day –
We told the customer with decent weather we may have the pool started in May.
Installation did not begin until 5/27. —” Correct we lost 25 days to rain in April and had 6 pools to build before their...

contract was signed.
Hole was dug on Wednesday 5/27– Correct –
Installers worked less than 5 hours a day on Wed, Thurs & Fri– Incorrect, it would be impossible to unload the pool equipment, excavate the pool, excavate a hillside for him to build a retaining wall, set the panels, pour the footing, and put stone in the pool bottom in 15 hours. -
Gave them a check on Friday 5/29 for $26k Correct - this was the amount due on the contract they signed.
no one came back to work on the pool until Thursday. The installer quit - The installer told me he did not get paid enough to take verbal abuse from customers and he quit!
Brandon came over Thursday evening and brought in a new crew. Told us that he was sorry about the other installers and told us he'd make it right. — Correct –
They worked Friday Saturday & Sunday. Finally got the liner in on Monday and we started June 8". Pool was full on Thursday 6/11. – Correct they worked all weekend so they could start putting water in Monday and backfilled and built piers for the concrete to set on as the deck was several feet above the ground this additional work took Tuesday through Thursday. -
The crew left on Thursday and did not work Friday because he was pulled to another job to help out on. – After work Thursday the installer asked for the $3,000.00 amount due and he said he would not pay because the pool was not completed before Memorial day and he was not happy about it. -
Our pool is now 14 days into the installation process, when we were told the job takes 10-14 days, and nowhere near to being finished. – A normal pool takes 10-14 working days but this pool is not a normal installation. The
pool is 20” or more down a hill and the area had to be excavated to create a level base in order for the pool to be built on a level spot. -
Saturday the installer called to inform us that he would not be out today. - - The installation crew had been working 7 days a week for the past 3 weeks and felt they needed a Saturday off. At that point the customer became very angry and verbally abusive so the customer was told that per the contract the company was to be paid $3,000.00 when the pool had water in it last Thursday and he would need a check per the Contract. The customer said that wasn't going to happen he would get someone else to finish the pool. –
We had 2 options we could give him a check for $3k and he would back fill and be done, and we can get some else to finish...with the $1000 we have left to pay. Or pay the $3k and an additional $5k and they would come out and finish and pour concrete. — The $3k he is referring to is what was due per the contract and the $5k is for additional concrete beyond what was agreed to and would be a separate contract for additional concrete that is 3' to 4' above the existing ground level. It would have to be supported on piers so the concrete wouldn’t settle and crack. Stone would have to fill this void and be tamped. He could not understand why he needed to pay this extra
expense. -
We asked to speak with the owner and they told us he was unavailable — I have a artery that is over twice the size it should be and have been in the hospital several times over the time frame when all this has been going on. The heart doctor has told my family he has to get my blood pressure down before he can operate so avoid stress and no work as I must not lift over 5 pounds. Thus all of this mess was
kept from me.
I answered my cell phone at home and it was the customer who was very agitated and verbally abusive about the employees and said he did not want the installer ever to enter his yard again. He said deliver the free cover I was to give him and he would have someone else finish the pool and he was not going to give me another dime but he wanted the free cover sent to him. In his entire 20 minute tirade not one word was said about the pool being defective only the pain and suffering his family has suffered because they could not swim by Memorial Day.
I will have the office order and send the customer the free cover. I’ve had the workers give me their side of what has happened at this pool installation and will include their thoughts about this matter.

Relationship: Client

Project Date: April 2010

Project Price Range: $50,000 - $100,000

Would not recommend Pleasure Pools. Pleasure pools designed and constructed a pool for me in 2010. the workmanship and the as-constructed pool did not meet the design intent and was constructed to what I consider to be less than third world standards. Please feel free to contact me with if you are considering engaging Pleasure Pools to build a pool for you.
