My present home was built in and the contractor used PLY GEM aluminum faciaI filed a complaint with PLY GEM this year, 2016, that the facia was developing spots of bubbling on the flat surface on about feet of contiguous facia that ran across the front of my home down about halfway on the right sideI communicated that I had about total linear feet of their facia but only this contiguous feet was having this problemI sent pictures showing the issue then followed up with actual samples derived from my paying the installer to remove one sectionPLY GEM denied warranty coverage and said it was corrosion and that their product was not a contributor to this issueI argued to no avail that only contiguous feet out of feet had an issueI also argued that the finish on this foot section of facia was defective and had what we call in the chemical industry holidays (imperfections in the coating that can be described as little holes with channels that go a

Purchased square of Hazelwood Woodgrain Dutch Lap 4.5" Quest Siding for my home 4/30/Within a year, approximately sqof the siding developed ripples and wavesI tried to purchase more Hazelwood but Ply Gem discontinued the colorSince we had not options, we purchased Mastic Montana Suede 11/21/for the gables trying to work with the remaining good sidingThis was not the design or look I desireQuite frankly, I hate the different colored gablesI believe the square out of the installed was defectiveClaim # *** was filedPly Gem (*** *** Warranty Technical Service) suggested five possible installation issuesWhy only square? They never came to inspect the houseI sent them receipts, photos, copy of deed, and a sample of the sidingIn fact, I have every piece of rippled squareI have noticed on this site other customers have had the same ripples developI do not believe it was an installation problem, since the rest of my siding is fine

The applicable Mastic Home Exteriors V.I.P. Limited Lifetime Warranty for Vinyl Siding, Vinyl Soffit, + Vinyl Accessories from 2012 states that "Mastic Home Exteriors warrants to you, the owner of the property at the time the Products were installed, that the Products are free from defects in...

material and workmanship in the course of manufacture if installed according to our specifications."  We checked the sample for any manufacturing defects such as tight locks, low caliper, or other factors that would contribute to the distortion that this customer is describing in his complaint.  Since we found no manufacturing defects, it was pointed out in our explanation letter that "Issues, that in the past, we observed that result in this type of problem, where there were no product failures, were due to installation issues."  We then listed five of the most commons issues we have observed in the past that lead to this type of deformation on the home.  The warranty also states in bold, all caps that "ANY REPAIR OF THE PRODUCTS UNDERTAKEN WITHOUT PRIOR WRITEEN AUTHORIZATION FROM MASTIC HOME EXTERIORS WILL VOID THIS WARRANTY."  Since the materials in the gables have been replaced without our authorization, the warranty has effectively been voided according to the terms of the applicable warranty.  As for the question of why only the issue with the 3 squares, that is not uncommon to see issues arise in the gable areas because many times the stud spacing is greater than our recommended 16" OC nailing and the angle cuts sometimes lead to panels being cut too long to allow for the necessary expansion and contraction of the parts; both of which were pointed out in the commons install issues in the letter mentioned above.  The applicable warranty also states that "We reserve the right to discontinue or change any design or color of any of our products at any time and without notice or liability.  If, for any reason, Products of the type originally installed are no longer available from us at the time you make a warranty claim, we may substitute another product determined by us to be of comparable quality or price."  This is normal operating procedure for any company that navigates the ever changing desires of the buying public. Having said all that, it is always our desire to maintain good relationships with all our customers.  Since this customer stated that they still have the alleged defective pieces in their possession, we would be happy to re-evaluate the claim for them.  We would simply ask that they submit a minimum of two samples, a minimum of 18" in length and from the entire profile of the part (i.e.- nailing hem to locking leg- intact) so that we can do our best to evaluate the materials these samples represent.  We will do an entire workup of these samples, including an FTIR test to determine the proper formulation of the parts and report back to this homeowner.  In the event there is any manufacturing issue with the samples submitted, we will work with the homeowner to attempt to achieve an amicable settlement for this issue.  The parts can be sent to:  Ply Gem Siding GroupAttention:  Warranty Dept- [redacted]2600 Grand Blvd; Suite 900Kansas City, MO 64108 We look forward to hearing from this customer and reviewing this claim to their satisfaction. [redacted] Manager- Technical Services & Warranty
