February 9, We offer a prompt pay discount of $to any patient who comes in without insurance or who wishes NOT to go through his/her insuranceOur staff is well versed and explains this policy to each patient who inquires about our prompt pay discountThe prompt pay fee is paid
at the time of service and is different than the fee processed through the insurance, as is explained to all of the patients who inquire about the Prompt Pay discountIf Customer decided to take advantage of the discounted rate, he would have signed a copy of the attached formPlease see a copy of the Prompt Pay Discount FormPatient decided not to take advantage of our Prompt Pay discount and decided to process his claim through his insurance CompanyHis impression "that we would submit $to his insurance and see if they would adjust it any lower" does not make sense as it would not be a DISCOUNTED rate for prompt payWhen we process a claim for a customer, Pocono Urgent Care agrees to accept as PAYMENT IN FULL the allowable amount according to our contract with that insurance companyPatient's insurance company allowed $for services renderedHowever, his insurance plan applied the entire allowable amount for his visit to his deductible, according to his policy, making the allowed amount his responsibility, We did receive a call from Customer regarding his claim and we explained to him that we could not offer him the prompt pay discount because the claim was already processed and in order to receive the prompt pay discount, payment must be received at the time of serviceThere are many costs when filing a claim through an insurance Company including, but not limited to, administrative costs, clearing house fees, software fees, and invoicing feesWith the prompt pay discount, those fees are not applicable and we can therefore offer the discounted prompt pay rateUnfortunately, not only are those fees applicable in his case, he chose NOT TO PAY the prompt pay discount at the time of Service, but only after the claim was processed weeks after his visit, and all of those fees were incurred.Although we stand by our staff and their presentation of the policy and feel we did not withhold or mislead Customer in anyway, we are willing to work with himWe are willing to reduce the amount owed to $to help cover a portion of the costs incurred in processing his accountWe use all customer feedback as a tool to help us better educate our patients on their insurance plans.Cathy OBilling Coordinator

Patient decided not to take advantage of our Prompt Pay discount and decided to process his claim through his insurance Company. His impression "that we would submit $120 to his insurance and see if they would adjust it any lower" does not make sense as it would not be a DISCOUNTED rate for prompt pay. However, his insurance plan applied the entire allowable amount for his visit to his deductible, according to his policy, making the allowed amount his responsibility, We did receive a call from Customer regarding his claim and we explained to him that we could not offer him the prompt pay discount because the claim was already processed and in order to receive the prompt pay discount, payment must be received at the time of service. We are willing to reduce the amount owed to $25 to help cover a portion of the costs incurred in processing his account.
