I called White's for a very specific reason. I own an older model Traulsen Spacesaver refrigerator. It is a commercial brand. It is hard to find a service company to go to a residential address to service a commercial brand. Most refuse for insurance reasons. We called White's and they said they would look at it. Or unit was running constantly and would not shut off. The service call was 80.00 dollars. The service man was here for maybe 10 minutes. He said he tried to add some gas to the system and it appeared to have a restriction. He said the unit would fail and it was time to look for a new fridge. He told me it was not worth saving and he had seen another customer spend hundreds of dollars trying to save a fridge that was not worth it. This fridge is built in 48 inches wide 24 deep. Hard to find a replacement of those dimensions.
This is the Problem
After that he told me that "If the unit fails he would buy it from me because he buys and repairs appliances on the side"....
My response..."Why don't I just pay you to repair the unit for me"
His response..."Well I value my job and it could cost me my job if thats how I did Boss Man"...
MY CONCLUSION...
White's repair man didn't want to really diagnose my problem.. Maybe he didn't really know. Based on me letting the unit set and then it working properly for a while makes me think it had moisture in the system which could be vacuumed out. But him offering me the opportunity to sell him a 15000 dollar refrigerator (new replacement value)to fix and sell on the side is very suspicious. When contacting the manufacturer recommended repair service which wouldn't come to a home...I was told there were many REPUTABLE repair services in my area leading me to believe that White's was not one of them. If you use White's beware. I don't believe all service men are the same, as with all things, some people take pride in their work...Some do not...
They were dispatched in a timely manner and completed work at a reasonable cost I would recommend them to anyone. This is a company who is truly proud of what they do. High morals and standards!!
