I took my 2014 Chevy Suburban in for its $15,000 mile service before departing for a road trip from South Riding, VA to St. Petersburg, FL. This service included an oil change, tire rotation, and various other small services. I also paid additional monies to have the tires rotated and balanced for a 14 hour, 900+ road trip I would be taking the next day. After reaching I-95 south and reaching speeds of around 70 mph I noticed my steering wheel started shaking. As the miles kept going the shaking got increasingly worse. The shaking got so bad that I stopped over in Rocky Mount, NC for the night and ended up taking the car into a Chevy dealer in town. Discovered that the tires had been rotated but not one of my tires had been balanced. I was absolutely shocked to find this out. This was a basic service that should have been completed without any problem. My husband is playing phone tag with the dealership manager to receive our money back and to let them know what has happened After having the tires balanced in NC I did reach my FL destination safely. But this should have not been an issue and this dealership should be embarrassed.

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: When Pohanka Chevrolet offered to replace the existing air shocks with the 'after market' they told me that it will resolve the issue.
but that has not been the case.  in fact, the issue is worst then I originally took it to the shop.  Now the the compressor runs ALL THE TIME, as well as the air suspension light comes on / off frequently.   the only reason I accepted to go with the after market parts, again they told me that this will fix the issue, but the shocks will not be as smooth as air shocks, and this will fix the sagging and light issue, and I was fine with that.  the dealership has provided the dates and mileage that I brought my car for redo service, but they failed to mention that every time I called to bring the car I had to make an appointment.  Once the "[redacted] Mechanic' was on vacation, and so on. and at times I wasn't able to bring the truck back the next day to fix it. I took my truck too many times to Pohanka Chevrolet in order to fix their mistake but they didn't, they miss diagnosed now they don't want to admit it.  I have lost my trust in that dealership, I have no intention to ever take my truck back, they've had it more t hen 3 times. they have to be morally obligated, if not morally then legally.

Pohanka Chevrolet has contacted this client and are currently working towards and settlement.

[redacted] came into Pohanka Chevrolet with a  concern of the rear
face="Calibri">suspension sagging and the service air suspension message
displayed. The proper repair to correct this condition was to replace
the air ride compressor/module assembly.
The cost of parts and labor before tax was $2800.00.
[redacted] did not want to spend that much money
repairing this concern and so we offered an aftermarket conversion kit that
would eliminate the air ride suspension for about $1900.00 less.   [redacted] agreed to try the
conversion kit and he ordered the parts and had them
shipped to Pohanka Chevrolet.
Pohanka Chevrolet installed the conversion kit July 30,
2014  for $475.88 in labor.  Test drove the vehicle and found no warning
lights or messages on and the suspension had a level ride height.  The vehicle had 79,177 when completed.
[redacted] returned on August 6, 2014 with 79,292 miles
with the service ride control light on.
We found an intermittent fault with the level ride control air pressure
circuit.  We made several attempts to
override the system and make it "think" the air ride system was still
intact when it is not.    Final
diagnosis at that time indicated an internal fault in the service ride control module.  Because removing the ride control module was
not an option as doing so would also cause the same message to display, Pohanka Chevrolet ordered a replacement at our cost.
[redacted] returned on September 8, 2014 with 79,300
miles to have the ride control module installed at Pohanka Chevrolet's expense.
.  The service ride control light did not
come back on during test drive.
[redacted] returned his vehicle on October 31, 2014 with
79,912 miles and stated that the service air ride  message comes on intermittently.  We found that our diagnostic tools would not
power up when plugged into the vehicle.
Found that the lighter outlet fuse was blown because of a
short circuit.  We repaired the shorted
circuit at no charge and continued to look into the service air ride
message.  We found history codes for the
level control exhaust valve circuit malfunction, level control compressor relay
circuit malfunction and a loss of communication with the body control/ driver
information module.  We checked all
ground connections and verified that they were secure.  Test dove the vehicle but were unable to
reproduce [redacted] [redacted]'s concern.
We advised that the factory air ride system has been mechanically
eliminated but electronics related to the system are still intact.  We also checked with [redacted] and the
manufacturer of the aftermarket kit but neither could provide a current
resolution the message.
[redacted]'s suspension if functioning as designed with
the current equipment installed and the ride height is level.  The service ride control light continues to
come on intermittently because the electronics are still looking for values that have been removed.

Pohanka Chevrolet has invested well over $1000.00 in
efforts to eliminate [redacted]'s ride control message.   The system was modified to provide a less expensive option.
Pohanka Chevrolet would be happy to repair his vehicle
with the original repair option, credit his labor cost
thus far towards the original repair option and return the aftermarket kit to
him when completed.

Review: The price for a jeep grand cheroke 2013 is $ 2993 online but the dealer ship will not honor the price that was advertised on 3/11/2013, on [redacted] he did offer any reason he only said that I was "chasing a dream I will not get."Desired Settlement: That Dealer Honors the price, and sale it to $2,993 to the client in this case me or other client

Business

Response:

This was an inadvertent advertising error that was immediately corrected once the error was identified. The price was listed as $2993 and should have been $29993. The vehcile was a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It was obviously an error, and the complainant has no claim based on Virginia Code § 18.2-243.

Review: The initial problem began on my way to work this morning when my tire popped. I waited for someone to help me change it and then took it to the closest tire place to have it look at and/or fixed. The tire place then informed me that the tire should not have worn down like that and the damage was likely due to an improper alignment. The gentleman then suggested that I take it to the place that did it and bring it to their attention so that they could honor their repairs and correct the issue. I arrived at Pohanka, explained my situation and was given a service rep by the name of [redacted] came over asked what was going on, I explained it to him and he assured me that they would look at it and give me a call back shortly. I left my car there and waited for a return call. FOUR hours later when [redacted] called he said that the tire damage wasn't due to faulty alignment it was due to poor quality tires. When I purchased the car a little over a year ago the sales rep [redacted] assured me that the tires were brand new and I wouldn't have to worry about them. If the tires were poor quality why were they put on my car and then sold to me? I was then transferred to the service manager, [redacted] proceeded to give me the same speech about tire quality etc. He also told me that the tires weren't poor quality but that [redacted] probably explained it to me that way due to an education concern. When asked what he meant or if he was implying that women weren't educated enough to deal with cars he ignored me and continued talking. He also said "that Pohanka is a multimillion dollar company and there is no way it's their fault or they would just fixed it because a couple tires are nothing to them". I asked to speak to the GM [redacted]. I was told he would call me back. It has been 2 hours and I have had no return phone call. I am now at home, since my husband had to leave for work, with no car. I called again and asked directly for [redacted] the GM and the receptionist told me that he was speaking with a manager and "what would I like her to do? Interrupt him to deal with a customer? Uh no.."

I am VERY disappointed in the service I have been given and the treatment I have received. Previously when I used them to fix my brakes 5 months ago and I still noticed squeaking I took my car back to have it looked at and the sales rep said it must all be in my head because he didn't hear anything. This is inappropriate and is not and acceptable way to speak with or deal with clients at all. I want a formal apology and I want my car fixed. PeriodDesired Settlement: Formal apology and repair

Response:

I did speak with [redacted] on Friday evening after she submitted this complaint. [redacted] did purchase 4 new tires Friday evening from us and those tires were installed by Pohanka Chevrolet. We apologize for the manner in which the issue was handled, and believe at this point all of [redacted] concerns have been addressed. We look forward to the opportunity to help [redacted] maintain her vehicle in the future.

Review: After advising the sales associate ([redacted]) that I had found a vehicle at another dealership for a lower price and decided to purchase from them instead of **. [redacted], he immediately responded by declaring that no other dealership could ever beat his prices. I then replied to **. [redacted]'s email with a description of the vehicle (which was the same as the one he was tring to sell me) and the sales price I paid for it which was almost $4,000 less then he quoted me. **. [redacted] then demanded that I send him the last 8 digits of the VIN so he could inform me of how much less his dealership could have sold it to me for. This was very disturbing as he was trying to insinuate no matter what I paid he could have beaten the price. It would not have mattered what price I told him I paid, I believe he would have just made up a lower number to try and make me feel guilty for not doing business with him. As a result of this poor showing of customer service, I have asked **. [redacted] to remove me from his contact list (phone, text and email). As of today I am still receiving emails from **. [redacted] and would like him to cease immediately. I have also advised him that I was filing a complaint with the Revdex.com because of his actions.Desired Settlement: The only outcome I wish is that **. [redacted] and anyone else associated with Pohanka Chevrolet located in Chantilly, VA to never contact me again and delete my information from their customer database.

Review: After a test drive on Tuesday evening, October 22, 2014 with Pohanka Chevrolet salesman [redacted] located a vehicle at an out of town dealership that met my exact specifications and we agreed upon a sales price. [redacted] then asked me for a $1,000.00 hold or deposit towards the purchase of that specific vehicle VIN:[redacted] which was to be transferred to Pohanka's Chantilly dealership from the out of town dealership. [redacted]EXPLICITELY* stated that the check would be *HELD* and that when the vehicle arrived, I would then have the option either of taking it back and of financing all of the amount due or of applying it towards the amount due and financing the only difference. That the check, [redacted] Check#:1030 dated Tuesday, October 22, 2013, in the amount of $1,000.00 was a deposit towards the purchase specifically of VIN:[redacted] was *EXPLICITELY ANNOTATED* in the remarks (FOR) line on the bottom left of the check.

[redacted] was present and watched as I annotatied the VIN# in the remarks (FOR) block of the check and included in my annotation that the check was a deposit towards the purchae of that specific vehicle (he assisted me in reading the VIN#,) and HE NEVER, EVER CAUTIONED ME THAT THE PAYMENT WAS NON-REFUNDABLE. In fact, to the contrary, as noted above, he explicitely stated that the check would be held until the vhicle arrived.

On Friday, October 25, despite [redacted]'s explisit representatin that the check would be held until this vehicle was received, Pohanka deposited my $1,000.00 check. Then on that very evening, but after my local [redacted] branch had closed, in other words after I was no longer in a position to execute a Stop Payment, [redacted] called to tell me that the other dealership was not responding and that the vehicle, VIN:[redacted], was probably not going to be available.

[redacted] has been evasive every time I called him to see if another vehicle meeting my specifications could be acquired from still another out of town dealership or by special factory order with no change in the agreed upon price. Although I called him repeatedly, he never, ever contacted me since calling me that once on Friday, evening, October 25 after my local [redacted] branch had closed.

I beleive that Pohanka was acting in bad faith when depositing my check after [redacted] explicitely stated to me that it would be held until the vehicle that I had agreed to purchase arrived.

I was able to print a copy of the check (front and back) from OnLine banking and have hard copies explicitely showing the VIN# of the vehicle I "thought" that I was purchasing and clearling identifying that the check was intended as deposit towards the purchase of *that* vehicle. Please let me know if you need for me to .pdf or FAX copies to assist you with hadling this complaint.

Whaterver asssistance you may provide is greatly appreciated.Desired Settlement: EITHER a refund (check or cash) in the amount of $1,000.00 OR irrefutable, documentable, verifyable, incontravertable *PROOF* that a special factory order is *IN PLACE* for a vehicle meeting ALL of my specifications that *BOTH* will be delivered to me at EXACTLY the same price with absolutely no change in any terms and conditions (including trade-in terms) whatsoever as was agreed upon regarding VIN:[redacted]AND* that my deposited $1,000.00 will be applied towards that purchase!

Business

Response:

This complaint appears to be the result of either miscommunication or an error made on the part of Pohanka Chevrolet. [redacted] was a gentlemen through the entire process, unfortunately we were unable to secure a vehicle for [redacted] before he purchased one elsewhere. We will, of course, be issuing [redacted] a refund for his $1000 deposit. That refund will be processed on November 11th. [redacted] should allow approximatley 10 days for processing and mail.

Review: I went to Pohanka Chevrolet on 7-21-13. The receipt states that my vehicle overheats at idle. I did call Chevrolet Owner Help at ###-###-#### to make the first complaint. They contacted [redacted] in service and he verified the information. He stated that my coolant was not circulating and that the diagnosis was a new water pump. Although my 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier, with a 2nd used engine in it may have needed a water pump, it overheated while idling the very next day, 7-22-13. The temperature gauge does not move toward "H" until idling for at least 10-15 minutes, or longer, as I never drive in rush hour. No warning lights ever came on and no smoke or any other indicators ever showed up either. It was a complete coincidence/fluke that I even noticed the gauge, as I had been on the phone in my car, parked in front of my condo on 7-20-13. I talked to [redacted] on 7-20-13 after speaking to my main mechanic, [redacted], of [redacted], MD. He believed it was the radiator fan, also stated on my receipt. I do not know if the service department at Pohanka Chevrolet ever let the car idle again after replacing the water pump, thermostat, belt, and flushing the coolant system. I have the receipt while typing this message.

Since my car is out of warranty, I am not required to have it serviced at a GM dealership, as "required" by GM. The case number is **-[redacted] and their phone number is ###-###-####, [redacted]. The closest GM dealership to me is [redacted] Chevrolet and I had issues with them about 2 years ago or so. The "check engine" light came on so many times and I believe they "invented" parts that were allegedly "near" my oxygen sensor. When I finally saw my oxygen sensor and other parts at [redacted] 66, I was in complete shock - there are no other parts near it and the sensor was so damaged that it needed to be replaced. If I had known about Revdex.com back then, several complaints would have been made.

But I digress and know that it is unrealistic to expect me to spend more of my time sitting in another customer lounge at a GM dealership to once again, check to see if my radiator fan is coming on. I also spoke to a friend here at the University of [redacted] where I work. He sold cars at the former [redacted] and I explained the issue to him, asking for his opinion about my repair isssue. He asked how I knew if it was indeed, my water pump that needed to be replaced. I explained that it was GM who makes their own diagnoses. And since the car is out of warranty, it is up to any dealership or repair center to "determine" the cause of the problem.

However, the problem was not resolved, as the engine was still overheating at idle less than 24 hours after completion of the job. I would have had no way of knowing whether the problem was fixed other than letting the car idle. Once again, it was by pure coincidence/fluke that it was sitting that long. IF I were in a lot of traffic, like we do experience here in the greater Washington DC Metropolitan area, the car could have overheated and stopped running, causing an accident or worse. That is the main reason I spent my Sunday afternoon at Pohanka Chevrolet, as I would taking my elderly mother, who has dementia and had been in hospitals and nursing homes for 2 1/2 months, to her primary doctor, in downtown [redacted], MD. I did not wish for the car for overheat with her and her sitter riding along.Desired Settlement: I would like Pohanka Chevrolet ([redacted], VA) to pay for the repair that will be made by [redacted] 66 ([redacted], MD) to correct the overheating problem. The car will likely be taken in on July 26, 2013 and I can provide any receipts as well as their address and phone number. They are a small, private repair shop that has been in business for 40 years and has an outstanding reputation in the community.

Regards,

Review: On June 1, 2014 my wife and I bought a 2014 Chevrolet [redacted] at Pohanka Chevrolet in [redacted], Virginia. Little did we know, but GM had issued a recall on this vehicle on May 22, 2014 for a seat belt issue that, per the recall, may cause the front passenger seat belt to fail. Per open source, on May 22nd, GM put out a STOP SALE order to all dealerships on these and other vehicles until the part could be obtained to fix the problem. Fast forward to June 16, 2014 when we receive "notice" from GM that our vehicle is subject to recall. I called the dealership and spoke to [redacted], a sales manager. [redacted] immediately said the vehicle was sold by mistake, on "oversight", it was their error, that there was no excuse for the vehicle being sold to us. He tried to explain the vehicle was sold late on a Sunday, in an attempt to somehow craft an excuse, but I would have none of it.

I understand that complicated vehicles may have a recall from time to time. But it is UNEXCUSABLE, in the shadow of the Chevrolet [redacted] recall tragedy and GM CEO [redacted] recent statement of incompetence and negligence systemic at GM, that Pohanka Chevrolet would sell this vehicle to us with a safety defect, potentially endangering my family.Desired Settlement: Plain and simple, we want to return the vehicle and get our money back.

Business

Response:

We have released the customer from any and all obligations, and they have done the same for us, (complete refund).

Sorry for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.

Thank you.

Review: I found a car listed on my bank ([redacted]) car buying service website for a sale price of $3,321. After requesting more information about the car I was told to wait to visit the dealer as it needed a part from [redacted]. I was also told I would be notified of when the car came back, estimated to take a weekend. After several days I requested an update from the Sales Rep and was told the car was misprinted but was still available. I asked if the company would honor the price and was refused and told they have a disclaimer on their website, although I have this guarantee from my bank, not the companies website. Accepting the answer I asked if the dealership would be willing to compensate me for my trouble, I waited several days for an answer getting only banter about how they are not responsible for mislabeled products and that the new price was a quoted "$9,460", three times of what I was originally quoted. Again asking if they were willing to work with me I was told by the sales rep that he would check with his sales manager, hearing nothing I discovered today that the car has been sold. During the wait for their answer I have lost opportunities of three or more cars of equal value. I have everything that transpired in writing through my email.Desired Settlement: I would like to see this company take on a policy that would state if a price is given to a customer then they honor that price. Additionally I would like a formal apology for the way I was treated and my time. I would accept some sort of "good faith" effort to remedy the situation, as of yet I have not received anything other than an advertisement of new cars released this weekend. The car has been sold but I would appreciate some type of effort to assist me in getting a car, as was my original goal.

We have spoken with [redacted] since this complaint was filed. He notified us of this complaint and told us after our conversation that he will be withdrawing this complaint.

Review: Pohanka Cherolet had our truck 11 days to replace all the injectors and high pressure hoses for which we approved a maximum of $7400. When we picked up truck they tried to charge us $8300, but removed the additional $900 in charges. The next morning our "low coolant" light came on, so we returned truck to the dealer to check it. They checked and said it was fine and added coolant. On our way to [redacted], PA white smoke started coming out from under the hood and from the exhaust and the "Check Engine" light came on. Diesel fuel was squirting out from a place under the hood. We had to be towed, along with our fifth wheel trailer. First to an RV park to drop off the trailer and then to a nearby Chevy dealership. They tightened some connections and Pohanka paid the service. Near [redacted] the "check engine" light came on again and there was a rattling under the hood. We called Pohanka and Jeff D[redacted], the service manager, said to continue our trip to [redacted] and Delaware and bring the truck back to them when we returned to [redacted], which we did. They checked out the truck and said that we needed another $900+ in repairs. We asked if they could give us a break and they reduced the bill to $607 minus the $300 we paid the tow truck driver out of pocket. We started heading home to California pulling our fifth wheel trailer and the "low coolant" light came on again. We added 3 quarts of coolant and another quart the following day. Then in [redacted], TN we took the truck to [redacted] Chevrolet and they found a cracked hose, which they replaced along with more coolant. theDesired Settlement: We were told when we picked up the truck after 11 days that the job to replace the injectors was difficult and that the technician had never done this job before. If we had known this, we wish we had been given the opportunity of taking the truck to someone who knew how to work on a diesel trucks and knew how to replace injectors. We feel this technician was incompetent and caused many of the subsequent problems. We feel that these problems could have been avoided if the job had been done properly and that the additional $607, $13.68 for coolant and $172 at [redacted] Chevy for the cracked hose that either was missed by Pohanka or caused by the Pohanka technician should be refunded to us. In addition, the original diagnostics showed only 2 injectors were bad, yet all 8 were replaced. Was that really necessary? We feel that because we were from out of the area, we were taken advantage of and had no choice but to have the repairs done at that time. We dealt with several service representatives as well as the service manager. They were difficult to reach, leaving several voicemail messages, most of the time with no response. Since our last issue with the cracked hose we have tried to reach Pohanka and no one has returned our calls. We received a call from Pohanka's call centerasking about our experience and said they would file a report with Pohanka and GM. We also completed an online survey from Pohanka. We've heard from no one.
