There is a very significant discrepancy between what was quoted and what was billed. On [redacted] at approx. 11:45 am, I called AJ [redacted] to confirm the number of people and food choices for a party that was scheduled for [redacted] I was told that he was not available, and the woman who answered offered to take the information. I inquired about the cheese platter listed in the pamphlet provided to me. Since the size and pricing was ambiguous in the pamphlet, I asked what the [redacted] charge included. I was told that the [redacted] was per platter, and that they would bring out platters as needed. I asked what the size was but the woman could not specify. I asked her to add two platters to my order if they are [redacted] as she stated. She said yes. I also asked her to have AJ call me if he had any questions about my order; he did not. During the party, one cheese/cracker/veggie platter was provided. The second platter was brought out but it was only to refill the first platter. When I received the bill, the charge was per person, including children totaling [redacted] + tax [redacted] tip. I contacted Mr. [redacted] on [redacted] but he was not available so I left the message. On [redacted] I contacted Mr. [redacted] again; this time I was able to talk to him. I explained the bill discrepancy to him. His answer was that whoever told me it was [redacted] per platter was wrong. I told him that his employees giving out misinformation is not my problem to which he responded that I 'should have known better.' I took time to ask questions assuming the employee was trained adequately to give the answers. If she did not have answers, her answer should have been: "I don't know, let me get someone who does." Mr. [redacted]'s answer "you should have known better" is not only rude, it is ridiculous. He never even said "let me verify with the employee" he instantly tried to put the blame on me which tells me it's a) normal business practice to mislead customers and/or b) it happens frequently. I was also told that kids were ** per person (he charged me [redacted] and it was only for children that were eating which was 5 (he charged me for 9). Mr. [redacted] claims I signed the contract that specifies these charges ...I would love to see this contract. It is sad that a business has to take advantage of you hoping you don't pay attention to the bill. What is most disappointing to me is Mr. [redacted]'s patronizing response to my complaint. I have never, ever before been told that I "should have known better"!Desired SettlementRefund of the difference between what I was quoted and what I was charged.Business Response On [redacted] placed a deposit and signed a contract to hold a large birthday celebration in Point Breeze's partitioned Lakeview Room. She also received both the copy of the contract and a pricing/policy booklet. On [redacted] I called Kathy and she ordered Buffet Option 1 with blue napkins for her tables but would come in the following week with the exact number of guests attending. [redacted] must have called on [redacted] and gave our hostess the count of 43 adults and 8 children as well as ordering platters of Cheese/Crackers/Fruit and Vegetables with dip. On the night of [redacted] we did a head count of 45 adults and 9 children and charged accordingly for the dinner and appetizer platters. The Czechowskis paid it in full. [redacted] called on [redacted] and said that I overcharged her for the platters that, she claims, were quoted to her over the phone for [redacted] each. Our platters are displayed individually and replenished the entire appetizer hour and charged ** per person for Cheese/Cracker?fruit and ** per person for Vegetable & Dip. I was surprised that anybody would think that replenished food platters displayed for an hour for 54 people to eat from could cost only [redacted] However, we are a small community and I personally knew people who attended the party so I offered [redacted] a [redacted] gift certificate but was turned down and told she did not want anything less than a full refund for her appetizers minus the quoted price of [redacted] for each platter. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)1) Mr. [redacted] states: "On [redacted] placed a deposit and signed a contract to hold a large birthday celebration in Point Breeze's partitioned Lakeview Room. She also received both the copy of the contract and a pricing/policy booklet."The contract is irrelevant to this case. It has no mention of agreed pricing for food, and especially the cheese platter, and only mentions the [redacted] deposit, Mass tax, 18% service fee, and 5% linen fee.The pamphlet has a price of [redacted] not the [redacted] (children counted as adults) as I was billed. 2) Mr. [redacted] states: "On [redacted] I called [redacted] and she ordered Buffet Option 1 with blue napkins for her tables but would come in the following week with the exact number of guests attending." Mr. [redacted] claim that he called [redacted] is false. I called him on [redacted] at [redacted] pm but he was unavailable and was told to call back; I called back a little later at [redacted] pm and this time I spoke to Mr. [redacted]. I told him I was calling for [redacted] because she was away, and that I did not have exact number of people yet. He inquired about the main course choice, napkin color, and told me to call back in a few days once I have the final count. I am not sure why he would even claim he called and spoke to [redacted] I used my work phone to place the call and all my outgoing calls are date/time stamped (I have screenshots). Also, the number he would have used to call Kathy (as listed on the contract) was a business number, and the business was shut down that week for summer vacation with no one available to answer. So question is: does Mr. [redacted] not even remember what happened 3 weeks earlier or is he making things up to make himself look better?I called back on [redacted] at 11:15 but no one answered. I called back again at 11:25 am. I was told Mr. [redacted] is not there and the woman who answered told me she would take all the information from me which she did. The items he has listed on the sheet of paper are exactly what I told her with the exception of the platters. As I stated in the original complaint, the pamphlet stated [redacted] but there was no size description, no item breakdown, no details at all. I asked the woman what exactly is the [redacted] charge for because it's very ambiguous. She could not answer the exact size of the platter but stated I would be charged per platter. I asked her to do 2 platters - IF THE PRICE IS [redacted] PER PLATTER.When I call a business, and ask for pricing, I expect employees to give me correct answers or simply say: "I don't know the answer; let me get someone who does." She implied she was capable of the task. The price was given to me, I accepted, therefore it was a valid contract.3) Mr. [redacted] writes: "Our platters are displayed individually and replenished the entire appetizer hour and charged $3 per person for Cheese/Cracker?fruit and $2 per person for Vegetable & Dip."Nowhere in the pamphlet does it state any of the pricing mentioned in the response. 4) "I was surprised that anybody would think that replenished food platters displayed for an hour for 54 people to eat from could cost only [redacted]Apparently Mr. [redacted]'s count changed from 45 adults and now includes children as young as 1.5, 5 and 6, and 6. Also, the deal was 2 platters, no one agreed to replenish them. This choice was of Point Breeze employees without my permission. The platters were not replenished for an hour because as of 7 pm, they were no longer replenishing anything. There was only one original platter which was later refilled with some items but not all. Mr. [redacted] is welcome to verify that with my "54" guests. Also, some guest arrived we arrived after 7 pm, and at 7pm there were no platters left. 5) Mr. [redacted] writes: However, we are a small community and I personally knew people who attended the party so I offered [redacted] a $100 gift certificate but was turned down and told she did not want anything less than a full refund for her appetizers minus the quoted price of $12.95 for each platter.Mr. [redacted] did offer me a gift card but it was for a dinner for my husband and me which I did decline because getting free dinner was not even my objective. My objective was to correct the overbilling. I do appreciate Mr. [redacted] adding the [redacted] to his version. I'm assuming it is to replace his real response of repeatedly telling me that "I should have known better."Also, the very person who suggested Point Breeze is the person who also encouraged me to complain because she could not believe I was charged that amount.Final Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] PresidentContact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@charter.netAttached please find a copy of the published Hors D"Oeuvres list for Point Breeze Restaurant. This list was presented twice, once to [redacted] and once to her mother, and able to be viewed on our website as well. On the contract, signed by her mother, it states these pricing policies. The only reference to a $12.95 appetizer cost is a Cocktail Reception choice that is [redacted] per person. It is clear what the per person charge is for platters at my restaurant.Final Consumer Response Mr. [redacted] writes: Attached please find a copy of the published Hors D"Oeuvres list for Point Breeze Restaurant. This list was presented twice, once to [redacted] and once to her mother, In the original response, Mr. [redacted] claims it was Kathy [redacted] who received the pamphlet (which is true). In the latest response, Mr. [redacted] claims it was both [redacted] and I. Considering that the last time I have dined at Pont Breeze was couple of years ago and it was a family dinner after an event, I am not sure who, where and how anyone was able to hand me anything. The pamphlet I have was given to me by [redacted] with a handwritten "friend of [redacted]' and a phone number on it. Mr. [redacted] also claimed that he dealt with [redacted] which was also untrue. The liberty Mr. [redacted] is taking with fabricating his version of events does two things: 1) proves Mr. [redacted]'s lack of ethics, and 2) is insulting to my intelligence. Mr. [redacted] writes: On the contract, signed by her mother, it states these pricing policies. No such contract exists. There is no contract spelling out food prices signed by anyone. I have requested a copy of this contract and all I received was a contract that only mentions the [redacted] deposit, Mass tax, [redacted] service fee, and ** linen fee. None of those items are being disputed. Mr. [redacted] writes: The only reference to a [redacted] appetizer cost is a Cocktail Reception choice that is [redacted] per person. It is clear what the per person charge is for platters at my restaurant It does not state "per person" and there is no size mention, and that is exactly what prompted me to ask questions. I am basing my information on what I know as a consumer, and as a consumer I expect a restaurant employee to provide me with accurate information so that I can decide what to order. The point of this complaint is that I specifically asked the Point Breeze employee for TWO PLATTERS; based on replies from friends/family, I did not expect a large turn out this early in the evening, and the dinner was to be served not that much later. When you ask for hors d'oeuvres at a restaurant, you ask for plates and you pay a fixed price per plate. When I requested two platters, I did not ask for an unlimited supply of plates. I don't know if it was the woman who spoke to me or if it was Mr. [redacted] who decided to make the substitution but it makes no difference since it was unauthorized. It is not acceptable for a business to make unwarranted decisions to substitute a product or service that result in overcharges. It is not acceptable to count children (especially very small children) as adults; and it is not acceptable to count adults that were not even there. As I stated before, when the guest of honor arrived a little after 7, the platters were no longer refilled and they were nowhere to be found. And like at any party, many guessed arrived much later. Mr. [redacted] is using the count during the dinner to justify his cheese platter billing which is absolutely wrong. The point of all this is that I took steps to understand what I was ordering. I asked questions and believed the answers just to be informed later that I should have known better...What upsets me the most is Mr. [redacted]'s absolute disregard of facts. He is willing to make up conversations and meetings just to justify his or his staffs incompetence. I'm sorry but I don't accept that; I would not and will not accept this kind of unethical business practice, and I hope that this serves as a warning to other customers: get things in writing because I wish I did.

Service horrible at my wedding. I paid so much money & they "ran out" of food & decided not to tell me but instead not feed guest. Ended 2 hrs early. My wedding was [redacted] 2015 at [redacted] I paid them in full. The food service was awful. Understaffed and "ran out" of certain food that I had paid for and decided to not feed some of my guests and instead of telling me,I found out days later through guest complaints. Several people asked staff to cut the cake around [redacted] they did not cut my cake until [redacted] I went home with 3 out of 4 layers of my cake b/c they did not cut my cake on time as they had stated in the contract. There were several people from another wedding trying to "crash" my reception. We asked several times for our doors to be shut and for those people to leave. Around [redacted] an extremely drunk man from the other wedding came onto my dance floor and started putting his hand up my females guests dresses. We politely asked him to leave, which angered the man. Several of my guests asked staff to request the man leave the premises due to his intoxicated state and aggressive behaviors, instead staff gave him more alcohol. The man tried to physically assault several of my female guests in the parking lot which then caused a fight to break out. ** the manager sent out his FEMALE staff member to try to break up the fight, she ended up getting hit as well. Point Breeze did nothing to try to stop any of this. My guests had to call police. I paid my photographer extra and my disc jockey extra to stay until close which was [redacted] am... The wedding ended around [redacted] all of my guests were appalled and left. My entire wedding was ruined between the horrible service which I was astonished by and the fact they upon SEVERAL requests, they did not handle the intoxicated man properly which then led to the awful outburst. I am so upset and sickened with this. Several of my family and wedding planner tried talking with ** the manager, and he continuously "blows" them off and hasn't spoken to them.Desired SettlementI am looking for money refunded, I put EVERYTHING I had into this wedding and a place that states they are the greatest hosts for weddings, couldn't handle my wedding, tells me differently. This was an absolute mess thanks to the HORRIBLE manager ** and understaffed restaurant. Business Response On [redacted] the complainant held her wedding reception at Point Breeze. The cost per person was [redacted] and the wedding was served family style. Two Pieces of chicken per person were served to each table and another 100 pieces of chicken were distributed to the guests. There were 5 servers for the approximate 150 guests as well as 1 bartender. Guests of another wedding at Point Breeze were invited by the complainants guests into their wedding reception but were escorted out by a staff member as requested by the mother of the bride. The man in question was not served thereafter and exited the building. The police were called by a staff member as well as several others when a large number of guests approximately 25 or more guests from the complainants wedding exited into the parking lot and surrounded the man in question. Upon arrival, police searched for the men from the complainants wedding that had been involved in the altercation but they had fled. The police shut down the wedding and asked the remainder of their guests to leave the premises. The other wedding continued until closing time. The owner did take the time to speak with each staff member about the incident as well as reiterate policy and procedures. He did, in fact, agree to reimburse the complainant the entire cost of her wedding on [redacted] 2015.
