Points West Moving Company Reviews (%countItem)

Beware when you ask for a quote! This company seems like they are doing everything right-- the person sent to the house to give a firm quote was a very smooth talker. At the end his estimate for the entire move included 1 month free storage, a truck large enough for our furniture and ONLY our furniture, a storage area where our furniture would be stored without being offloaded, and $500,000 insurance if anything was damaged. At the end on moving day, the driver asks for the payment before they unload anything. This means you have very little or no time to look for any damaged items or missing items. We were charged $600 for the first free month ; 4 pieces of furniture had water damage; there was rice and mice poo in several dressers containing our clothes as well as in other furniture and Denise G. was not willing to discuss any of it. So obviously they store and ship other stuff with your stuff as they want to fill the big 50-70 ft container they use to pick up your household items in. They are not dry containers. Denise G gives out a false email address when you ask where to send the pictures of damaged items (the owner of that email address replied that he always gets people emailing about damaged items). So as it is almost a month after our move we still are unpacking and don't know if we are missing anything. Good luck claiming for any missing items if we find any!

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely

Called January 5th, 2019. Needed to relocate storage from one storage unit to another - they were also aware of both storage units size. Spoke to Dennis, who quoted me $500 dollars for the job. The conversation for this price I have recorded.

I accepted, the load date was January 15th, 2019. Received and paid a bill for the amount of $1375.00. This was not the amount that was discussed previously for the job at hand.

Called back right away, spoke with Jeff G, who stated he would give me back a refund of $200 dollars. Which I never received, even though there is a difference of $675 dollars from the initial quote amount. It would be $875 dollars without the $200 dollar refund, which I am still yet to receive.

I have attempted to contact them multiple times with no resolution or reply. It seems like they would rather avoid the situation instead of resolving it. I have done my due diligence in attempting to find a resolution with no avail.

Initial Business Response /(1000, 5, 2019/04/09) */
A confirmation letter was sent to Mrs. on Jan 03, 2019 confirming her move for Jan 15, 2019.
There was no mention of charges as we do not know what the charges will be until the move is completed.
Move was from *** storage in Kelowna to *** Storage in Kelowna, BC
All local moves are by the hour and we have a four hour minimum charge.
The charges for Mrs.s move are correct and we have a signed bill of lading agreeing to her charges.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /(3000, 7, 2019/04/10) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
When I called Points West Moving. I told the size of both units. I was quoted $500.00. Which I have recorded on my phone. Points West is misrepresenting our conversation. I am more than willing to let Revdex.com listen to my recording.

Final Business Response /(4000, 10, 2019/04/17) */

They gave me an amount of 500.00. I was very, very shocked when I seen the bill. It says on their receipt, payment on Delivery. I paid because I felt I had no other option at the time. I have been dealing with them and they're denial of their quote for far too long. Hard to believe they came recommended. The person that recommended is now moving out of province, and most definitely will not be using them.

We hired Points West Moving on September 2018 to move from West Kelowna to Red Deer. The owner, Dennis G, assured me that it would be "one move one truck" as I specifically mentioned that I didn't want multiple household in one truck. On the day of the moving, a big 53' semi showed up. We were living in a condo building and the entrance was pretty narrow so was the parking lot. James, the owner's son truck driver, managed to back up to the parking lot but ran over the right hand side little concrete wall without damaging it. This truck was so big that the front cabin had to be unhooked and parked on the road while loading the trailer.
When leaving the condo building, James ran over the left hand side concrete wall this time and broke it in many pieces. I was a witness to this incident and when I confronted him about it he told me that the company has insurance and not to worry about it.
2 weeks later the President of the condo building informed me that West Point Moving was denying any wrong doing and didn't want to pay for the damages. However Dennis G admitted that his son ran over the curb but didn't break anything and that in fact, this curb was broken to begin with and that they were not responsible. I can assure you that this curb was intact before the moving truck damaged it.
When you live in a condo, there is several bylaws and one of them found us responsible because we hired this company and so we had to pay out of our pocket to fix that little wall. It's totally outrageous.
We also had several broken items: dishes, night stand, bed frame etc. It's impossible to talk by phone with Dennis G after he has his money. He replies only by emails. Regarding our broken stuff, he replied by giving a name and an email address of an insurance company and told me to deal with this person. He totally refused to hear anything about it.
Be aware. Before they unload the truck, you will have to pay in full. If you don't pay, they won't unload. That way if something is broken you cannot withhold any money. And before you pay, be sure to read the second page attached to the bill of lading as there is many exclusions as to what they are responsible for and basically this second page says that they are not responsible for anything and you are responsible for everything. When you do the initial contract you are not aware of if. It's only at the unloading stage and again if you don't sign it they don't unload your belongings.
Dennis G is not an honest person. He lied about "one truck one move" as my husband witnessed that the trailer full of stuff for another family that was going to be delivered in Calgary. He lied and found son many stupid excuses about the incident with the moving truck. If I could give this company a -1 I would.

I have a beautiful dining room table and chairs that we purchased a few years ago, and very special to me. We are a retired couple and so needless to say, the chairs for this set have hardly been sat in. When they unpacked the chairs, they were filty, their moving blankets must never be cleaned. One of the chairs is worn along the top as if something had been rubbing on it, the backs of that chair and a couple others were loose...so when they had packed it they must have had something packed on top. This was definately due to a lack of care on their part, and was the biggest part of my concern.

All of our leather furniture was dirty, as well as the dining chairs, their blankets really need to have some laundering done.

We moved into a brand new town house, and the movers hit the dry wall in a few spots and gouged out portions of the wall, not even have the courtesy of mention this to me. In the FINE print, wall damage is NOT COVERED...good one.

The other thing was a box of items had broken glasses. Since I had packed them myself, it is not covered. I wouldn't even mention this, as it is a small item but along with the dining room chairs, it needs to be mentioned. The box had a big dent in it where it was smashed in ...my fault??? I don't think so.

It took them two weeks to come back to me with any kind of a response. I waited a couple of weeks to see if they would respond to my letter in response to their not satisfactory response before posting a negative review. I feel that it could have been handled quite a bit better than what it was. Not much concern for a customer.
