Polish Community Center Banquet & Conference Center Reviews (3)

The Organization received you previous email, we determined we responded to the complaintNothing we can offer will resolve the issues presented in the complaintIf you wish, contact me to discuss further if neededThank you, Brian RB*** Vice President, Polish Community Center of Albany, Inc

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
It was never explained that there was a possibility that the room would be divided If that were the case we would have never booked the room and we would not have been totally shocked when we arrived to set up Also if you are claiming that you told us the room could be divided why did the event coordination show us the bar and the stage? They are on opposite sides of the room and she specifically told us we could use the stage and the bar (which ended up being on the other side of the divider) The divider was anything but sound proof While we wee setting up the night before the party, we could hear the other parties conversations clear as day, so you can imagine how loud it was to have another DJ blasting music It was terrible and it totally ruined our introductions and a blessing that we said before dinner Many of our guests told us that they could not hear any of it The service port/ makeshift bar was not fully stocked They had maybe bottles of liquor It was terrible The polish community center is claiming that the location of the fondu table was picked by us When we were originally shown the room we did pick a spot, it was on the side of the room that was used for the other party When we were shown the divided room we were forced to put the fondu station off in the corner The color we picked for our tables was gold When we showed up to set up the night before the color was a mustard yellow Even the staff that were there agreed it was not gold, and so did the vice president The decision was not reversed after the tables were set we noticed that as soon as we walked in to set up and the tables were not set! The tables were just thrown all over the room We spent hours there setting up, part of the original agreement was that everything would be set up and we just had to show up to add some personal touches, that was not the case They are claiming that The polish community center is claiming that they we accepted free beer and wine for hour and that that should rectify the situation First of all we did not accept it When they told us they would be giving it to us I told them that it was not nearly enough to make the situation right The polish community centers claim that the free hour of beer and wine cost them 1,300$ is ridiculous First off the beer tap was broken for the first 20-30mins of their so called free beer and wine hour During which time the bartender was busy trying to fix the tap and was not available to serve our guests And second the entire bar bill for the hour party was which included mixed drinks, so there is no way the 40-30mins of free beer and wine was 1,300$!! Also after doing so research it seems this is not the first time the Polish Community center has done this There is another review of them on YELP and the person claims they did the same thing to them (Dividing the room without telling them and booking the other part of the room to a different party) Reading their response to my complaint makes me sick and really highlights their shady business practices They are blatantly lying They did offer us 25% discount on a future event with them but I would NEVER go back there. Regards, *** ***

June 5, 2016We received your letter dated May 19, 2016, which was sent by postal mail, regarding a complaint that was submitted to your organization concerning an event that was held at our facility on May 14, 2016. We shall herewith abide by your request and refrain from any reference to this...

customer by name, as well as consumer bank accounts and/or Social Security numbers. It is correct that the initial meeting with this client took place on April 23rd, 2015, one year in advance, to arrange for a "Sweet 16" birthday party which was planned as a Buffet dinner for 129 guests, including 40 teens plus 16 children and an unlimited amount of soda not to exceed 145 persons. During a tour of our ballroom, which comfortably seats 500 persons, it was thoroughly explained that for this number of guest s, we separate the room with a soundproof divider which has adequately served our smaller venues for many years. We therefore question the validity of the client's claim that she received 1/3 of the room that she had originally viewed, since the opposite half of the ballroom was occupied with a wedding. The accusation that the music of the DJ at the wedding party was blasting and much louder than hers is false since it was very obvious that her DJ played much louder than theirs. Her basic annoyance was that during her party's introductions and speeches, the wedding DJ continued to play loudly, thus making it difficult for her guests to concentrate on the program. The complainant's letter refers to a "service port in the side of the wall that went into the kitchen and was used as a bar." This is an incorrect observation. A permanent built-in bar is located in the section of the ballroom where this client's event was held and was fully stocked, except for an occasional unusual ingredient. Unfortunately, an unexpected mishap occurred whereby the beer tap broke which caused a brief delay in the service. Another concern that the fondue table with a service person was located in the corner of the room and was not visible and, therefore, the guests were unaware of its existence, is correct, however, the location was originally chosen by the complainant. The same is true with respect to the client's criticism regarding incorrect colors. She was originally provided with a colorchart featuring small snippets of fabric and chose table linens in black, alternating with gold, including ceiling drapes, as well a separate shade of grey, referred to as silver. As an added touch, we provided flower arrangements with matching colors including occasional tinges of black, as well as additional decorations, at no charge. After the tables were set, our client reversed her decision regarding the gold color and requested changing to a lighter shade. Our Maintenance Supervisor accommodated her request and made a trip to our linen supply Company for the linen color changes, including ceiling drapes which the: replacement of is a time-consuming task. The client's statement that when she and others arrived the evening before the event and found tables and chairs "thrown all over the room in no order and they spent 5 hours setting up the room and correcting mistakes" is absolutely false. Our staff is well qualified in setting up various types of venues, based on the room size and number of guests. Although the client and those who accompanied her re-arranged the setting according to their preference, they shouldhave originally presented a specific lay-out. We conclude that there is no justification for a refund since the Buffet-style dinner and unlimited soda for 145 guests was well-consumed and as a gesture of good will, we offered onehour of free beer and wine which the client initially refused, but did take advantage of, at a cost to us of $1,300. In addition, we extended an invitation to discuss a 25% discount on a future event which was also refused.Sincerely, Brian R. B[redacted] Vice President   Urszula [redacted], Events Coordinator
