Upon my visit to their home, I went into the attic to look at the location of the leak reported, and then inspected the ouside area as well The problem area (see attached pictures) is where the ice baproblem occurred Because this area of roof has ice guard membrane installed under the shingles to protect against water infiltration, I indicated to Sherry what I felt was the problem With the ice buioccurring, number one, the diverter holds the ice in place, allowing the ice melt to push up and under the siding where you can visually see the open void area at the rake and flashing edges (see pictures), which makes this a siding issue, not a roofing problem I explained to Sherry that the proper repair would be to remove the siding, flashing, and rake metal and install ice guard membrane She wanted to have caulk installed and I told her that this could be done, but I did not recommend it for repair to this area We know from previous winters that this whole area along the front of the house has tremendous ice build-upI told Sherry to let me know if they would like us to give them an estimate to come back to repair as I had recommended, and she was to let me knowTo date we have never heard back from anyone until receipt of their complaint We have previously been blamed for a window leak from a new front window they had installed by another company I personally came out and upon inspection found that this company did not flash the window properly Our roof has been on since 2013, and therefore, feel this new leak is related to a siding/flashing issue

under the shingles to protect against water infiltration, I indicated to Sherry what I felt was the problem.  With the ice build-up occurring, number one, the diverter holds the ice in place, allowing the ice melt to push up and under the siding where you can visually see the open void area at the rake and flashing edges (see pictures), which makes this a siding issue, not a roofing problem.  I explained to Sherry that the proper repair would be to remove the siding, flashing, and rake metal and install ice guard membrane.  She wanted to have caulk installed and I told her that this could be done, but I did not recommend it for repair to this area.  We know from previous winters that this whole area along the front of the house has tremendous ice build-up. I told Sherry to let me know if they would like us to give them an estimate to come back to repair as I had recommended, and she was to let me know. To date we have never heard back from anyone until receipt of their complaint.  We have previously been blamed for a window leak from a new front window they had installed by another company.  I personally came out and upon inspection found that this company did not flash the window properly.  Our roof has been on since 2013, and therefore, feel this new leak is related to a siding/flashing issue.
