Well I havent been there yet but I am so looking forward to my vacation next June2019. I have been in contact with the owner and thus far he as been over and above fair with me. I cannot see where the beach home wouldn't be as special I will indeed sign the guest book as well as leave a review upon returning but I feel like it will be 5 stars!

I received a letter on 7/21/2014 from [redacted] and [redacted] stating that we will not be receiving our 200.00 deposit back. This site will not let me post a picture of the letter, but it is very rude and very unprofessional. Just to list a few things of what we were labeled...dishonest, malicious, stupid, irresponsible, lazy selfish slobs and called pedigree. We left the house clean when we left, and we left on Thursday instead of Saturday. We did not do anything to this house at all. Everything was left the way we got there, with exception of throwing out food that was left from the previous renters. I will not eat, nor drink from another person, so of course it got thrown out. The accusations in this letter are lies and we have people that can verify this. We were accused of having a dog there, we DO NOT own a dog at our home and no dogs were there. There was dog hair in the place when we arrived, but I didn't say anything. The deck is a hazard, the railing is loose, there is a hole in the deck big enough for a small foot to go through it, we constantly killed bugs which one bit my husband, got a splinter in my hand from the deck to which just came out the other day. This is slander and I will hire an attorney. This letter has been posted to 3 Topsail sites on Facebook and hoping I can get the newspapers in Topsail to print it. I want a full refund for slander and if an attorney has to be hired, I will be asking for a full refund, court cost, attorney fees, and whatever else I can get. I'm not one to sue anyone but this has went above and beyond slander. We are good hardworking people, decent people. I am not a slob as he listed in this letter, my home is very clean and I can fax anything you need to help in this matter. A petition will start with this asap with everyone that knows us. I am hoping that Revdex.com will do something about this to get it resolved or other matters will take place in court. Thank you, [redacted] and [redacted]Desired SettlementAn apology and a full refund. This is SLANDER on our part and if need be, it will go to courtBusiness Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] - OwnerContact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]My response to Ms. [redacted]'s claim is that we have owned and managed our beach house since 2007. In those seven years, we have never withheld one single tenant's security deposit. Our usual pedigree of tenant is very decent and they care for the property and appreciate it. We have established friendships with many and offer substantial discounts on rent to reward their loyalty and care of the property. We maintain a guestbook that our guests have always signed and the brief notes they provide in that guestbook have always indicated their great pleasure staying at our house. I am sure Ms. [redacted] saw that guestbook, but she did not elect to sign it or provide any comments. It is very rare that someone does not sign the guestbook. We have many, many repeat customers from several states with some actively renting since our first year of renting the house. But, in all those seven years, we have never had our house left in such a terrible condition as the [redacted]'s left it in. Maybe they do not know what cleanliness means, or perhaps there is a different standard where they are from. I will provide the facts and allow the reader to decide. My cleaning crew advised me around 10AM on Saturday, July 12th 2014 that aside from a huge mess (such as bed clothes looking un-arranged, dirty dishes in the sink, considerable grease in oven traps, etc.) - the house had additional problems that she wanted to make me aware of. These problems would incur a higher fee for cleaning, and one item she did not handle and I would have to call someone else to fix. 1) She indicated that the deck was crawling with ants due to a trash bag that had been left on the back platform. I had to hire someone else to remedy this problem. 2) In addition, someone had turned off the power strip that powered the refrigerator causing all the freezer content (ice cream, ice pops, etc.) to melt and the refrigerator side's food to spoil and had begun to stink terribly. I immediately was at the house for my own evaluation.3) In addition to these problems, I noticed that every single amenity (coffee, sugar, toilet paper, paper towels, propane, etc.) had been used up and nothing had been replaced. 4) A brand new comforter that my wife had just bought the week before the [redacted]'s stay on the bed in the middle bedroom had massive staining on it. 5) The beach chairs, boogey boards and tanning mats that are normally left in the large tote on the deck were strewn about the deck and the tote's bungee-cord had been disconnected from the deck railing. 6) I also noticed what appeared to be dog nose prints on the sliding glass doors facing the beach. I knew that the [redacted]'s had not paid the $75 pet fee which we ask the tenant to pay when they book the house. It's an honor system for which we rely on the tenant's honesty when they book the house. After going over to my neighbor's house later on, he confirmed that he had seen at least one dog at the house during the past week. And some teenage girls or women in their early twenties had arrived during the week and he believed they also brought a dog, but he wasn't completely sure if it was the same dog or not. This neighbor is a full-time resident who frequently looks out for our house and other neighbors who rent their beach homes. He has no reason to lie.So, I informed Ms. [redacted] that in addition to the fact that I would not be refunding her security deposit, I absolutely forbid her or her family to rent our house again. We don't need that kind of tenant. I am shocked that these people would expect a security deposit refund, or would even have the nerve to challenge my decision to not provide it. The decision to make the refund is entirely up to my discretion. And I can prove that I spent more repairing and replacing what the [redacted]'s destroyed than their measly $200 deposit. Therefore, if Ms. [redacted] wishes to pursue a law suit for $200, that will afford me the opportunity to file a counter claim for damages and I will not have to do the initial legwork to open a petition. I will just respond with a counter claim. And in my case, I can prove my claim whereas Ms. [redacted] has absolutely no proof to back her claims other than some ridiculous petition she mentions. Yeah - good luck with that in a court proceeding. I will provide:1) A receipt from [redacted] and [redacted] with an additional $100 charge for cleaning and fumigating the refrigerator, and2) A receipt from [redacted] for $85 for deck treatment for ants, and3) A signed affidavit from my neighbor stating the presence of at least one dog during the [redacted]'s tenancy (which incurs a $75 pet fee that the [redacted] did not pay), and4) A receipt from [redacted] for $34.18 for amenity replacement, and5) A receipt from [redacted] cleaner for $20.28 for comforter cleaning charges. Finally, Ms. [redacted] needs to be educated to the fact that "slander" is an oral defamation in which someone tells one or more persons an untruth about another. The letter I sent her which she claims was slanderous was mailed to her and no one else, and was completely truthful. This would make a slander claim impossible to pursue since I said nothing publicly about her to anyone but her. But the fact that she is now claiming in her Revdex.com filing that she has posted several slanderous accusations against me in three different Facebook posts gives me ample room to file an addendum claim for slander and libel according to my brother's wife [redacted] who is a lawyer in [redacted] She has indicated that she would love to handle that case for me pro-bono.
