Pool Boys Reviews (12)

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:Dear Revdex.com, This message is in regards to complaint ID [redacted] I have received the business owner’s response to my initial complaint and would like to readdress the actual issues at hand in an effort to allow the business owner, yet another, opportunity to make this right To be clear, there is no misunderstanding My pool is nowhere near professional quality construction or remotely acceptable In fact, since my last message, newly found issues, in one case extremely significant to the sustainability of the pool have arisen I will address after I retort the business owners commentsWhile a great majority of the business owner’s account tries to simply dismiss my and my wife’s account on how the project process flow, I would like to focus on the product, not the means in which we got here That said, every single thing I wrote is absolutely fact and I believe it was the business owners intent to deceive us right from the beginning As soon as he received his first check, attitudes changed I now realize we were manipulated throughout this entire project and I am sure that this business owner has no intent on correcting any of the issues related to this projectWith regard to the pool construction, I would like to point out this business owner’s view of “best work” The very first image he attached in support of his account is a close up image of the coping for my pool It is nearly completely covered with concrete residue and concrete brush marks over the top of the bricks In no way does it appear clean, neat, and complete This sole image is a perfect representation of what this business owner considers a good job I asked the same day it was laid if it was going to be corrected, and was told “of course .we are not done with the job yet relax” To date, I have been going out with fine grit masonry sand paper and sanding down the coping It has been months now and I still have yet to finish cleaning it all upAs stated above, since my claim was submitted, there have been new revelations regarding incomplete and/or completely incorrect work done to my pool 1A I hired a pool cleaning company to care for the pool and was quickly advised by them that there was a problem Both pool “main drains” (on bottom of pool, used to circulate water through pump and filter) still had the plugs installed and that only the skimmer was in operation I was advised that the skimmer on its own was 100% inadequate in keeping my pool clean and that I needed to get the main drains cleared immediately I have since removed one of the main drain plugs with the other unable to be removed due to it being concreted in place 2A As stated in original claim, at no point have I been able to run the primary and booster pump at the same time, which is again an absolute necessity in keeping the pool clean as the pool cleaning company advised me I soon realized that even if the primary pump ran for extended periods of time, it would trip the breaker I also realized that the primary and secondary pool timers along with the thermal couple sensor were not working At that point, I requested a colleague of mine, who happens to be an industrial master electrician, to please come correct my electrical problem Upon inspecting the work, he stated, “it was the worst, most dangerous wiring job he had ever seen in his life!” Issues were as follows; product wire diagrams show timers must be wired independently each with two phase 220vlt only one was wired with 110vlt, Thermal Couple also requires two phase 220vlt but was supplied with 110vlt tied into the output instead of input, Primary and booster pumps were internally configured for 110vlt and both were supplied 110vlt from one phase of 220vlt through same amp breaker, 110vlt outlet was not wired according to GFCI standards, second phase of 220vlt was not terminated and left loose inside the box with no insulation or protection from arc, Amp clamp verification showed it was impossible for both pumps to operate in any other configuration other than 220vlt due to the amount of draw associated to their operation in 110vlt mode All these issues have since been corrected, and all the electrical has now been safely terminated and in a manner as to ensure full function of all end devices on the pump pad 3A Pool water is seeping from a junction box located on the pool pump skid Upon further investigation, I found that the junction box houses the power line for the pool light which is enclosed in electrical conduit The pool is now leaking behind the light, into the conduit so much so that it has packed over yards of conduit and now seeps constantly at the endpoint I do not have the slightest idea how to correct this issue; it will require a professional contractorIn addition to the three issues above, the twenty-three listed discrepancies as identified in my initial claim, have yet to be addressed, much less resolved They are as follows: - Water leakage at three (above ground) points throughout exposed exterior of pool wall - Water leak at Pool Pump - Water leak at Pool Filter - Pool Pump not anchored to concrete pad - Pool Booster not anchored to concrete pad - Concrete pad has substantial lean due to significant leaking and foundation failure - Electrical Junction Box not weather sealed (drill holes not plugged in JB) - Electrical conduit not secured to Junction box - Amp Vlt circuit trips when Pump/Booster are running simultaneously - 6Xdouble turtle mosaic tile not installed on pool - 6Xdouble turtle mosaic tile installed on pool with crack through it - 6xsingle turtle mosaic tiles purchased, only installed on pool - 2xpool step tiles not installed on pool steps - Pool Pump specified is Horsepower however, Horsepower installed - Pool depth should be incremental from 3ft to 6ft, however pool actual 4ft to ft at mid point and ft in at furthest depth This was a specific request made and confirmed due to the age of our two young boys- Masonry stained pool light fixture cover and housing - Convenience receptacle specified Vlt GFI, however Vlt equipped - All Pool coping brick faces contain excess dry mortar that was never cleaned off – Broken Pallets, Trash, Nails, and additional construction waste strewn throughout my yard – Pool/electrical line inadequately backfilled Not graded to existing landscape as agreed – Private Well waterline and electrical line demolished in an area over yards from construction site due to reckless operation100sq ft SOD destroyed due to reckless operation of tractor over yards from construction site (Contractor verbally agreed to refund cost of sod) Septic Leach line repeatedly driven over with equipment/vehicles, which significantly damaged Line Contractor was advised on multiple occasions before and during project to avoid this area and failed to prevent occurrences In an effort to come to a resolution, I respectfully request the business owner be transparent and address each of my discrepancies by the number I have been extremely honest and detailed in my description and expect the same in return This business owner sells himself and his company on the basis that he was a prior Air Force Officer As he knows, my wife and I are both recently retired Air Force and that was a strong basis to go with this company, who was not the most cost efficient or best articulated of our options It is time to own up, shore up any integrity issues, and make things right! Respectfully, [redacted] * [redacted] Regards, [redacted]

The owner of this company lied repeatedly to us, did not give us the type of pool design we wanted and kept charging us for additional expenses we did not agree toUltimately he is a scam artist, deceitful, and unwilling to please his customersA Revdex.com official complaint will be made, without a doubtIf you want your pool to literally take months to build, a deceitful owner to deal with, then by all accounts hire Felix Lopez of pool boysThe worst 45k I have ever spent in my life

Regarding this complaint, the service proving company, Pool Boys, wishes to express its arguments connected to the matter, as it is a mere misunderstandingWe respect all our customers, as you will see in the following lines that we did everything to make things the way our client requestedWe believe the complaint is proofless and made out of the ill-intended desire to put our company in a bad lightThis was agreed by a Revdex.com staff member themselves when having to request the deletion for a multiple complaint by the same client in their attempt to deceitfully discredit Pool Boys To begin with, Pool Boys never stated that the construction of the pool will only take weeksAny structure depends on various factors, like approvals, materials and weather conditionsWe cannot take the risk to be hasty and deliver a poor job, even if the customer wished to have the pool as soon as possibleAfter we managed to sign the contract with our client, other procedures must be taken care of before physically starting the work on the projectThere is the need for the electric company, cable company, gas company and any other companies involved, to sign the project as well and give their accept for excavation to commence, which quickly takes almost weeks to pass, due to their working scheduleAfter receiving all the Okays for the project, there is a waiting time of days, after concrete is shot onto the pool excavation, in order for it to have enough time to cure and harden, before moving on to the next stepIf we started the next phase too soon, the entire quality and reliability of the pool would have been compromised The upfront requested payment was concerning the materials that the clients ordered in addition to what was stipulated in the contract, regarding the material included in the construction processThey had the possibility of choosing materials according to their preferences but pay for the difference implied by the materialsStill, I wished to be of assistance and help them out with the costs, at least in a small manner, as I thought it would be welcomedThus, to avoid paying additional money for shipping and handling, I suggested in making the payment for the material draw in advance, so that the order can be done for all the materials at once, saving them from paying any additional freight/shipping and handling charges from the manufacturer in case of multiple ordering So that way, both the elementary materials, plus the materials solicited by the customer, would have been shipped and handled in one sole transport, and paid accordingly(Which it was) His statement says that at first, I requested money for additional productsAfterward he changes it, saying that I needed the money to complete the jobTwo declarations that don’t matchCONFUSING We also wish to mention the fact that the entire backyard was all sand, no dirt whatsoever, which made the project execution more difficultAfter we excavated and formed the pool shape, Mother Nature decided to rain, which led to ground moisteningRegarding these circumstances, we made an engineering structural decision to thin the walls from 12, as initially agreed, to 10, due to the soil and water table conditionsThis operation was later inspected by a structural engineer, hired by Pool Boys randomly, to come and investigate the previously constructed pool shellHis exact words were the following: “This is an amazing Pool ShellThe materials used to build it were over and beyond what code requires, and I wish ALL pool companies would construct it like thisIt would make my job a lot easier.” Pool Boys took this decision when the conditions requested for a choice, which was needed to be done quickly, with no time to spare, due to the fact that the swimming pool shell was being pouredSometimes, conditions in the field do not match with what we plan on paper because we never know what we will find on the groundBut whatever we do, it will be for the benefit of the customer and not in oursWe do understand engineering processes and regulations, and I can assure you that (backed by a structural engineer) it was an excellent product and within Texas State CodeIt passed the quality inspection without a problem The ABC Engineering representative stated that the pool shell was perfect, but when asked to write a report they said back that it would take several weeks to document, due to the large amount of work they already had to manageBearing in consideration that this was a time sensitive report, and we did not have the luxury of wasting time, we decided to contact another third-party engineering firmIt again had zero connections with Pool Boys and was randomly selected, just like in the first caseAgain, we insisted on hiring another engineering firm, from the desire to comply with the customer’s request to look over the engineering documentationSince time was pressing on our backs, and the customer wished to finish the pool project in the shortest notice, we had to look for an available engineering to help us out in this matter We are not sure what is the story regarding our employee being in jail, or to whom the customer had spoken, but we can confirm that it is an absolute lieWe do not have employees that are out-laws, and we never intend to have them in the future eitherPool Boys has respectable employees, whom we hire after a background, experience and skill checkUnfortunately, we did experience an accident with in the company, as one of our principal employees got hit at an intersection by an F-on his passenger door, requiring medical expertise and care during this timeThus, he ended up staying in the hospital for weeks, to receive the proper care Throughout each step of the construction process of the pool, we documented our evolution with inspections and pictures on-site, whenever we considered appropriateAll our pictures of the swimming pool, with the coping and tile installed and finished, show no such signs of the problems the customer explains in his statementPerhaps what he states are mere statements made from the desire to discredit usBut we do not base our arguments on words because I can provide pictures with the work we unrolled at his residenceHe also claimed that he wanted the coping in square cuts, instead of a natural stone lookI know that the wishes of the customer always come first, but we have the experience and knowledge of how certain materials behave when cut and processedSo, with no intention to disregard the customer’s wish, I expressed my concern and explained that flagstone had a natural pattern and was jagged-edgedThis would be the reason, at the edges, the stone cannot look even or flushedAfter the job had been done, respecting his desire, he complained that he did not want his kids to get cut on the stone and that he was not satisfied with the lookThus, I offered to replace it because I wanted him to like the pool he was going to have Furthermore, the customer proceeded in claiming water leaks, which, in fact, were the side walls that ended being wet, due to his decision to overflow the pool with water, above the recommended limitWhen he complained about this matter, we sent an employee to check on the matter and see what might have gone wrongOf course, when our employee saw the situation, he knew why the side walls were wetHe also let the customer know about this phenomenon, as he was familiar with this type of sightingsThere was nothing wrong with the water equipment so that no water leaks could have occurredThe day of final inspection, I decided to film the entire project, including the surrounding pool structure tile, electrical settings, coping, equipment, and job site entirelyIt is very useful to keep this footage for the portfolio and for improving our future servicesThus, I can again provide video proof of the work done at the siting, as it looked in the final stageThere were no signs of anything being wrongThe customer complained throughout the entire project, at every step our employees madeAlso, he consistently used vulgar language, in almost every conversation to belittle and degrade one’s intelligence and self-esteemI decided to record this on audio as well, which I too can provide because I was afraid of the inadequate and vengeful behavior of this customerNo matter what we did to make this right and satisfy him, nothing was right from his point of view I also wish to mention that I did not speak rudely to the customer EVER until he called me out of my name and insulted me, which I also have on audio recordingHe was always pushy and managed to create a stressful environment around himIt was very difficult to remain calm and keep your common senses in his presence, no matter how hard you tried With that said, Pool Boys, still stands by our commitments to create the upmost best work for our clients and will continue to do so I have many positive testimonials to prove it and will provide as needed for anyone who request themWe will continue to work as hard as we have to make our customers happy and satisfied with the work we do for each and everyone of them [redacted] ***

I am rejecting this response because:Dear Revdex.com, This message is in regards to complaint ID [redacted]. I have received the business owner’s response to my initial complaint and would like to readdress the actual issues at hand in an effort to allow the business owner, yet another, opportunity to make this right.  To be clear, there is no misunderstanding.  My pool is nowhere near professional quality construction or remotely acceptable.  In fact, since my last message, newly found issues, in one case extremely significant to the sustainability of the pool have arisen.  I will address after I retort the business owners comments. While a great majority of the business owner’s account tries to simply dismiss my and my wife’s account on how the project process flow, I would like to focus on the product, not the means in which we got here.   That said, every single thing I wrote is absolutely fact and I believe it was the business owners intent to deceive us right from the beginning.  As soon as he received his first check, attitudes changed.  I now realize we were manipulated throughout this entire project and I am sure that this business owner has no intent on correcting any of the issues related to this project. With regard to the pool construction, I would like to point out this business owner’s view of “best work”.  The very first image he attached in support of his account is a close up image of the coping for my pool.  It is nearly completely covered with concrete residue and concrete brush marks over the top of the bricks.  In no way does it appear clean, neat, and complete.  This sole image is a perfect representation of what this business owner considers a good job.  I asked the same day it was laid if it was going to be corrected, and was told “of course….we are not done with the job yet…relax”.  To date, I have been going out with fine grit masonry sand paper and sanding down the coping.  It has been months now and I still have yet to finish cleaning it all up. As stated above, since my claim was submitted, there have been new revelations regarding incomplete and/or completely incorrect work done to my pool.               1A.  I hired a pool cleaning company to care for the pool and was quickly advised by them that there was a problem.  Both pool “main drains” (2 on bottom of pool, used to circulate water through pump and filter) still had the plugs installed and that only the skimmer was in operation.  I was advised that the skimmer on its own was 100% inadequate in keeping my pool clean and that I needed to get the main drains cleared immediately.  I have since removed one of the main drain plugs with the other unable to be removed due to it being concreted in place.             2A.  As stated in original claim, at no point have I been able to run the primary and booster pump at the same time, which is again an absolute necessity in keeping the pool clean as the pool cleaning company advised me.  I soon realized that even if the primary pump ran for extended periods of time, it would trip the breaker.  I also realized that the primary and secondary pool timers along with the thermal couple sensor were not working.  At that point, I requested a colleague of mine, who happens to be an industrial master electrician, to please come correct my electrical problem.  Upon inspecting the work, he stated, “it was the worst, most dangerous wiring job he had ever seen in his life!”   Issues were as follows; The owner of this company lied repeatedly to us, did not give us the type of pool design we wanted and kept charging us for additional expenses we did not agree to. Ultimately he is a scam artist, deceitful, and unwilling to please his customers. A Revdex.com official complaint will be made, without a doubt. If you want your pool to literally take 6 months to build, a deceitful owner to deal with, then by all accounts hire Felix Lopez of pool boys. The worst 45k I have ever spent in my life.

I was in the process of having an outdoor kitchen built when the contractor I had hired started the job and didn't finish. I called Felix w/Pool Boys to see if he can finish the job or more like fix the mess the other guy left me with! Having to tear everything down because it was measured all wrong and starting all over. My confidence in contractors wasn't the highest but Pool Boys reassured me to trust them! They were able to finish the kitchen in 10 days. It looks Great!! My nightmare was over! Thanks Pool Boys!!

Pools Boys did a fantastic job. Felix gave us very good advice and was the only one of 4 requests for info on pool work that replied in a very timely manner. He was very accommodating on a schedule that fit our needs and his crews did an excellent job and finished the total re-plaster in 2 days as promised and it looks great!

Still, I wished to be of assistance and help them out with the costs, at least in a small manner, as I thought it would be welcomed. Thus, to avoid paying additional money for shipping and handling, I suggested in making the payment for the material draw in advance, so that the order can be done for all the materials at once, saving them from paying any additional freight/shipping and handling charges from the manufacturer in case of multiple ordering.   So that way,  both the elementary materials, plus the materials solicited by the customer, would have been shipped and handled in one sole transport, and paid accordingly. (Which it was)   His statement says that at first, I requested money for additional products. Afterward he changes it, saying that I needed the money to complete the job. Two declarations that don’t match. CONFUSING...   We also wish to mention the fact that the entire backyard was all sand, no dirt whatsoever, which made the project execution more difficult. After we excavated and formed the pool shape, Mother Nature decided to rain, which led to ground moistening. Regarding these circumstances, we made an engineering structural decision to thin the walls from 12, as initially agreed, to 10, due to the soil and water table conditions. This operation was later  inspected by a structural engineer, hired by Pool Boys randomly, to come and investigate the previously constructed pool shell. His exact words were the following:   “This is an amazing Pool Shell. The materials used to build it were over and beyond what code requires, and I wish ALL pool companies would construct it like this. It would make my job a lot easier.”   Pool Boys took this decision when the conditions requested for a choice, which was needed to be done quickly, with no time to spare, due to the fact that the swimming pool shell was being poured. Sometimes, conditions in the field do not match with what we plan on paper because we never know what we will find on the ground. But whatever we do, it will be for the benefit of the customer and not in ours. We do understand engineering processes and regulations, and I can assure you that (backed by a structural engineer) it was an excellent product and within Texas State Code. It passed the quality inspection without a problem.   The ABC Engineering representative stated that the pool shell was perfect, but when asked to write a report they said back that it would take several weeks to document, due to the large amount of work they already had to manage. Bearing in consideration that this was a time sensitive report, and we did not have the luxury of wasting time, we decided to contact another third-party engineering firm. It again had zero connections with Pool Boys and was randomly selected, just like in the first case. Again, we insisted on hiring another engineering firm, from the desire to comply with the customer’s request to look over the engineering documentation. Since time was pressing on our backs, and the customer wished to finish the pool project in the shortest notice, we had to look for an available engineering to help us out in this matter.   We are not sure what is the story regarding our employee being in jail, or to whom the customer had spoken, but we can confirm that it is an absolute lie. We do not have employees that are out-laws, and we never intend to have them in the future either. Pool Boys has respectable employees, whom we hire after a background, experience and skill check. Unfortunately, we did experience an accident with in the company, as one of our principal employees got hit at an intersection by an F-150 on his passenger door, requiring medical expertise and care during this time. Thus, he ended up staying in the hospital for weeks, to receive the proper care.   Throughout each step of the construction process of the pool, we documented our evolution with inspections and pictures on-site, whenever we considered appropriate. All our pictures of the swimming pool, with the coping and tile installed and finished, show no such signs of the problems the customer explains in his statement. Perhaps what he states are mere statements made from the desire to discredit us. But we do not base our arguments on words because I can provide pictures with the work we unrolled at his residence. He also claimed that he wanted the coping in square cuts, instead of a natural stone look. I know that the wishes of the customer always come first, but we have the experience and knowledge of how certain materials behave when cut and processed. So, with no intention to disregard the customer’s wish, I expressed my concern and explained that flagstone had a natural pattern and was jagged-edged. This would be the reason, at the edges, the stone cannot look even or flushed. After the job had been done, respecting his desire, he complained that he did not want his kids to get cut on the stone and that he was not satisfied with the look. Thus, I offered to replace it because I wanted him to like the pool he was going to have.   Furthermore, the customer proceeded in claiming water leaks, which, in fact, were the side walls that ended being wet, due to his decision to overflow the pool with water, above the recommended limit. When he complained about this matter, we sent an employee to check on the matter and see what might have gone wrong. Of course, when our employee saw the situation, he knew why the side walls were wet. He also let the customer know about this phenomenon, as he was familiar with this type of sightings. There was nothing wrong with the water equipment so that no water leaks could have occurred. The day of final inspection, I decided to film the entire project, including the surrounding pool structure tile, electrical settings, coping, equipment, and job site entirely. It is very useful to keep this footage for the portfolio and for improving our future services. Thus, I can again provide video proof of the work done at the siting, as it looked in the final stage. There were no signs of anything being wrong. The customer complained throughout the entire project, at every step our employees made. Also, he consistently used vulgar language, in almost every conversation to belittle and degrade one’s intelligence and self-esteem. I decided to record this on audio as well, which I too can provide because I was afraid of the inadequate and vengeful behavior of this customer. No matter what we did to make this right and satisfy him, nothing was right from his point of view.   I also wish to mention that I did not speak rudely to the customer EVER until he called me out of my name and insulted me, which I also have on audio recording. He was always pushy and managed to create a stressful environment around him. It was very difficult to remain calm and keep your common senses in his presence, no matter how hard you tried.   With that said, Pool Boys, still stands by our commitments to create the upmost best work for our clients and will continue to do so.  I have many positive testimonials to prove it and will provide as needed for anyone who request them. We will continue to work as hard as we have to make our customers happy and satisfied with the work we do for each and everyone of them.     [redacted]

Excellent! Excellent service! Did I say excellent?! How about awesome too! Mr. L[redacted] is a down to earth hard working professional who seeks the same from his employees and contractors. Example: The first team of contractors he had doing the demolition of my pool were not working at the speed or cleanliness that he required so he removed them and brought in a new group within 24 hours.
Pool Boys STX prices are reasonable and fair. They work hard with the client to ensure the job is done right the first time. I highly recommend this company and will gladly do business with them in the future.
Bring on the summer fun! Pool party at my house! :-)
