new car key made for $218.87 is not compatible wiht original
I lost my car keys (and house key) in Publix. (it was later found a few hours later).. I called Geico and they sent someone to unlock my car. That went well. He gave me a Pop a Lock business card to call the locksmith to have a key made. This was done at a cost of $218.87. I asked if the new key was compatible with the original and he said YES. When I retrieved my key from Publix and tested the key I had at home, neither one will run the car. When I called and I was told that I was asked if I had a key and, as I felt that was a ridiculous question as why would I need a locksmith if I had a key!!! !He now says he scrambled the code because I said No. his question was not whether I had a key somewhere else- which I did and I clearly had no key at that moment and place. When done he said I needed to sign three places on an Ipad...with very small letters.. I asked what I was signing and he said it was acknowledgment of service and not to worry because there was a 30 day warrantee. Now I am told I signed something that said I knew the new key would not work as the original. I was lied to about this. He claims I asked if the new key was compatible with the CAR. Obviously if it started , it was. I wanted to know if it was compatible with the original key (which I now have two useless ones) and he answered that it would. Had he been honest I would have corrected the problem right there. I knew I had a key at home and I knew the one in Publix was probably going to be found- which it was. When I asked them to come back and reprogram as they misrepresented the functionality of the original, they want $150 minimum to reprogram this. I am 72 years old and trusted this company to tell the truth. I feel scammed. I have to return my lease car with two working key fobs and it will cost me hundreds to have three keys reprogrammed. (the two originals and the new one with no buttons).. if I had been told that a new key would make my original keys useless, I would never have had the work done...
I thought I would wind up with three good keys but now I just have one with no buttons.-

Desired Outcome

reprogram my keys to run my car

We went out to make a key for the customer who lost their key inside of a grocery store. The manufacturer of her Toyota Corolla designed the vehicle so that if a new key is made, all other keys that are not present will become inoperative. This is a safety feature so that anyone who was to find the old keys would not be able to start the customers vehicle. We asked the customer if they had any other keys to which the customer responded "no." We make hundreds of keys for customers every week, so obviously we inform them of this safety feature. On top of that when the customer was asked to sign they asked "what am I signing for." As our locksmith began to describe what the signature was for the customer said "Never mind I will read it." The agreement is a very short and to the point agreement where you will find:

"I, Customer , understand that all electronic keys or remotes must be present when the locksmith programs new keys or remotes to my vehicle. I understand that keys or remotes that are not present during the service will no longer work the vehicle. Furthermore, the attempted use of non-working keys may cause my vehicle to become inoperative and require dealer service."

When we told the customer about her reading the agreement that she signed she said "well I only read a few words."

The customer found the original keys that were lost, and states that they had a key at home. We as a company cannot send out a locksmith for free to do work when the customer did not understand what we were trying to tell them. We tried to offer her a discount of 15% to come back out and program in all the keys, instead she hung up the phone. She then called back 4 times, to either hang up the phone right away, or say a quick sentence and hang up the phone.

The customer also had their neighbor call in to complain to which we were able to speak with reasonably to describe the situation. We told the neighbor that again we were willing to help and increased the discount to 20%.

The response is not accurate. I was not asked if I had keys elsewhere. I also asked if the new key was compatible with the original and was told YES. When given an ipad to sign and asked what I was signing there was NO mention of the original key not working. I also was never offered a 20% discount- only 15%

As previously stated we would have no reason to say that the customers original keys would remain functional. We make hundreds of keys weekly and it is the vehicle manufacturers security that erases any other keys aside from those that are present.

Also as stated the 20% discount was offered to the customers neighbor who called in, because the original customer would not speak anymore to us about the situation and would only hang up the phone when trying to explain the details. The customer called in several times to shout and then immediately hang the phone up making it difficult to come to any agreement.

Previously attached was a photo of the customers signature next to what they are signing for. It is not a long or drawn out agreement and is very straight forward about the process. This photo will be attached again.

Pop A Lock came out to retrieve keys from my vehicle. After they left, I noticed my door handle had been broken by employee.
Employee went in thru the window just fine. My car has a very good security system and he found himself having to pull the door lock and open door handle simultaneously! In doing so, he was careless and damaged the passenger *** handle. I've been in communication with his manager, David. Sent a picture, per his request. And have heard nothing back.

Desired Outcome

I would like my door handle restored, fixed, repaired to what it was before.
