Popeyes Venture

I found a charge on my debit account for 49.80 on 4/15/24. I called the phone number 844-948-3400 and they said I got an app for my phone on March 8, 2024 called Popeyes Ventures. I have no such app. Somehow they got my account. The customer service number processed a 50% refund which they said is all they can do. I will contest the rest of the charge with my bank. I do not remember seeing any kind of ad for this! How they got my card number I have no idea!

Today, March 29, 2024, I received a text message from my bank asking if I recognized a $74.49 charge entitled SHRED AND BU. I had no idea what that was so I signed on to my bank's mobile app, opened the charge, found a phone number and called it. Like the complaint above, I also reached a customer service person who told me the same things, the charge was for a workout subscription called Popeyes Venture and that I signed up on X day, got 30 days free and now they are charging me the full price. She said they wouldn't charged me unless I downloaded the app (which I haven't since I never even heard of Popeyes Venture). She also said I would have received an email confirmation of my order. She told me that an email confirmation would have been sent to me and repeated my email address, which was my correct email account. I too checked all of my email folders and there was no email. The only difference between me and the person above is that they tried to charge me $74.49 but then they reversed it out, which is also strange! I called my bank after speaking with this customer service rep, explained to my bank what had happened and in light of this, we cancelled my current bank card, I filed a claim regarding the charge (even though it was reversed out, just in case) and my bank issued me a new bank card number. The most disturbing thing about this entire experience is where did they get my bank information from? It is EXHAUSTING trying to stay one step ahead of all of these illegal scammers who are trying so hard to take OTHER PEOPLES HARD-EARNED MONEY! This digital age may have some advantages BUT it seems the disadvantages outweigh the good ones. So, stay alert and check your bank transactions at least once a month!

Saw a charge, titled Extreme Worldclass workout, 844-902-2644 MA, on my Discover card for 19.99 dated 1-4-2021. Had no idea what this was. I called the number on Feb 4 and got a customer service rep (didn't write down her name) but she spoke very poor English so it was a difficult conversation. She said the charge was for a workout subscription called Popeyesventure.com and that I signed up on Sep 29 and got 30 days free and they started charging me on Oct 30. She said they wouldn't charged me unless I downloaded the app. I quickly checked my iPhone, which I'd had since mid Aug 2020, and I did not have this app downloaded. She also said I would have received an email confirmation of my order on Sep 29th. She told me the email the confirmation would have been sent to and it was my correct email account. I checked my email account for that date and there was no email. I then searched my entire email account for anything from Popeyes Venture or Extreme Worldclass Workout and there were no emails from either of these two companies. I then start looking through by Discover charges and fiound the other charges and found the other three charges so they had charged me 19.99 three previous times which I hadn't caught. After lost my temper, they agreed to credit me 25% of the last charge on Jan, I said no, then they said they would credit me 50% for the last charge, and I said no I wanted a full refund of the four charges and they refused. they finally, after I lost my temper agreed to cancel my account and give me a full refund for the Jan charge and I said ok but I would be disputing the other three charges with Discover which I am doing now. I have been suffering from a torn rotator cuff and was in PT from July through Nov 2020 so it makes no sense that with this injury, I would download an app like this. I was doing special exercises in my twice a week PT sessions and doing only their prescribed exercises. After this conversation on Feb 4, I filed a disputewith Discover for the Oct, Nov, Dec charges.. And then on Feb 19 here comes another charge from them for 19.99. My account was supposed to have been cancelled on Feb 4! so I'm going to call these people again and have another conversation with them. Good grief.
