Porsche of Roslyn Reviews (2)

Review: I purchased a vehicle, based off of false information. I was told the vehicle was in "perfect" condition. The car was not operating properly when I came to see the car, but I was told that it was functioning normally. It took me taking it to another dealership after the purchase to find that it did need repair. I was also told the car was not in any accidents, but I ran an autocheck, which showed an accident. I was only shown a [redacted], which does not show the accident record. I find it impossible to believe a Porsche dealership would not know that a Porsche they are selling was in an accident or not.Desired Settlement: I want this dealership to purchase the car back. I was sold the vehicle based off of lies and never would have bought it had I known about the accident history.

Review: On Monday December **, 2013, I brought my car into Porsche of Roslyn to get a wheel alignment and 2 ignition key remotes re-programed expecting to spend approximately $1800+, also tighten up some screws that could possibly be causing sun visor rattling, expected to pay for it as well.

Apparently to Roslyn it was not enough for this customer to spend on a Porsche 911 no longer under warranty. [redacted] (very shady customer service rep) mentioned to me, “on these cars your rear drainage plugs are most likely clogged due to time and the age of the car” but this could be cleaned and cleared out for me at an extra cost to the current work order. OK I answered but call me with what you find out about my car before you start. I called later on in the afternoon to see if my car would be ready the same day. When I spoke to him he told me they have not even had the chance to look at the car yet and that he would call me in the morning and promise not to start on my car until he speaks with me. The next morning at 9:30am [redacted] called me tell me what they found wrong with my car.

[redacted] – as I suspected, your rear drainage holes are clogged and this is the reason there is water soaked into the rear carpet and under the driver’s seat of your car.

Me – I could see where this is going. Let me come get the car. Could you put this all on paper?

[redacted] – OK, I’ll get the paperwork ready. You could come in for your car.

When I got to Roslyn of course [redacted] was set on his original diagnosis and dead set on making this scam fall into place. I spoke to [redacted] and told him I didn’t understand what happened here. The car was brought here on 9/**/13 by Silver Star Mercedes at my request and paid for by me to have a pre-purchased car inspection performed at $345 before I buy the car. None of this water damage was detected then however they did mention in the report that one of two ignition key remote does not work. I bought this car on 9/** knowing that the pre-purchase car inspection was a very positive one. I bought this car to start my hobby as a Porsche 911 [redacted] and would never drive this car in rain, snow or even if the roads are wet. This car has been kept in an indoor garage since the time I bought the car till now and only driven about 700 miles since I purchased the car. With that being said, I don’t know where the water/wet carpet came from. If this wet/carpet happened while being outside at Silver Star’s used car lot back in September, I would think it would’ve dried by now especially with the heat wave days of the summer. In addition why was this problem not detected then? He had nothing to say but that it wasn’t him that did the inspection. I told him he shouldn’t even talk like that as he represents Porsche of Roslyn and it doesn’t matter which customer service rep from Roslyn handled the inspection. He just said it wasn’t him and must have been [redacted] who doesn’t work here anymore. (Sounds more like the blame game, perfect excuse especially when [redacted] is not there to defend himself).

So now I asked [redacted] if he could just program the ignition key wireless remote for me. He told me because of this water damage, your ECU Alarm System computer is also water damaged and that’s what damaged your ignition key remotes. All these items must be replaced before they could even sell and program a new key for me. He took me out to the car to show me the wet carpets and yes it was wet. Hmm, I think I would have noticed the water in the carpet by now having owned the car for now 3 months. Something really didn’t seem right here so I wanted to take my car home but found out that I had to pay $159+tax for Roslyn to diagnose my car. “What! Nothing was done but telling me my carpet is wet and I need to replace a damaged ECU computer that isn’t damaged. What system did they use to incorrectly determine that the ECU is damaged?

THIS BILL IS MORE LIKE PAYING PORSCHE OF ROSLYN TO POUR WATER ON THE CARPET IN MY CAR AND TO TELL ME THAT IT’S WET.

I did some research on the web and read that replacing an ECU system would cost $2000+ so I was getting prepared.

On Thursday 12/** 2 days later I brought my car to another reputable Porsche specialist (no name mentioned) to get the alignment done and program the key remote. They did it all on the same day and never mentioned anything about any ECU Alarm system being damaged. Weird thing, the carpet after 2 days was almost dry, just a little damp and a couple of days later it was not even noticeable of ever being wet. In addition to that the mechanic gave me a run down on my car as he inspected it and told me this is a clean 32k miles car. I didn’t mention to him what I’d just gone through at Roslyn. I asked him to check and clear out the front drains since it was easily accessible. The owner said to me sure no problem and no cost for such a small thing. At the time I picked up my car the shop owner told me that he checked and blew out the drains but to be honest with you, it was clean and that this car was an indoor kept car. No gunk detected in the drains so there’s no need to rush at cleaning out the rear drain holes. We’ll wait till the spring time when I take off the hard top I can come in one day for them to check the rear drain holes.

Although I know the car has surpassed the 45 day used car warranty. I still went to Silver Star Motors just to let them know of this water problem. The [redacted] was very nice and said to me he also doesn’t understand how this came about now especially when Roslyn did the pre-purchase car inspection and to also let him know when I find out from a second opinion if there is an issue with the ECU system then he’ll look into seeing what he could do for me. (Silver Star Mercedes. They have very good customer service. I bought 2 new cars and this 1999 Porsche from them. Look forward to buying my new ML from them soon).Desired Settlement: Reimburst charges of $172.71 that was charged to my credit card. I had to pay this or they would not release the car to me. plus reimburst $1500 (lost wages) for causing me to unexpectedly take off work 4 days to look for another machanic to repair my car. Total $1672.71

I paid $172.71 for Roslyn to diagnose my car which I feel was unjustified

The customer service rep [redacted] poured water in my car's carpet to try and scam me for multiple other repairs that he said was caused by the water damage.
