Regards,

This issue has been resolved with the customer. We have the work scheduled for 10/16/14.

We at porter feel there was a miss communication some where, we are truley sorry for any unnessesary hard feelings. We are Refunding Ms. Harlton $300.00 by Check.

Called for an estimate/repair. He never went on the roof and got an estimate unprofessionally written without addressing my concerns. I wouldn't even let them wash my car.

Review: I received an estimate for roof repairs at [redacted] from Porter Roofing on 5.28.14 for $500. A week later, I had the front portion of the roof repaired via another contractor (I paid $300), to include the replacement and painting of all fascia boards (4) at front of house. The reason why I did this was so that the house looked better when I listed it for sale later that month.

When the house was sold, I needed the remaining roof repairs completed. Via the phone on October 2, 2014, Porter Roofing quoted me $700 over the phone without looking at the actual roof with the assumption that $700 was worst case scenario for all mandatory repairs; repairs that weren't needed wouldn't be performed, thus the price would be lower, I would only be charged for actual necessary work that was performed. The closing date of the house was scheduled for 10/31/14. Porter was hired on 10/2/14 to perform the work but would not provide a date when they would perform the work. They would not commit to a completion date. My realtor (whom assisted me with this transaction) emailed Porter Roofing for the next few weeks to inquire as to when when work would be performed as Porter made me sign an agreement that they would perform work and I would not use another Contractor. As the close date was fast approaching, I started to research other Roofers to complete work since Porter Roofing was not committing to a date of service. As such, Porter Roofing completed the work (without informing me what date they were doing the work) on 10.24.14 and charged me the full $700. PLEASE NOTE: Porter Roofing, replaced the BRAND NEW painted Fascia boards in the front of the house with new, unpainted fascia boards. This work had been was completed a month prior yet, they re-did the work anyway. When asked, Porter Roofing has no explanation for why the re-did work that was already done that was done BETTER than how they completed it. They did not respond as to why they completed work that was newly repaired and painted. When asked about why Porter Roofing still charged $700, they stated there was "other" work that needed to be done per the inspection report ( 1-2 fascia boards on the patio). I was OK with this, but not OK that they re-did work that was already done and charged me a second time for it and didn't do as good of a job as it was painted to match the rest of the house.

Porter Roofing failed to resolve this issue by not following through with providing answers as to why they re-did work that was recently completed and still proceeded to charge me the full $700. I was forced to pay the full $700 right away since I was closing on my house and they could put a lien on my property if I didn't pay the full $700.

My realtor questioned why they still charged me the full $700 when $300 of the work was already completed.Desired Settlement: I would like Porter Roofing to refund me $300 for work that they unnecessarily performed. The work they performed was unnecessary as it was previously performed by another contractor 1-2 months prior.

Here is how I arrived at the refund price of $300

Original quote $500 (quote was made in person after inspection of the roof)

I paid $300 to have Fascia Boards at front of house replaced by another contractor

2nd quote by Porter $700 (quoted over the phone based on work requested by buyer (not all work was needed, was upgrades) on inspection report

Porter stated that the $200 difference between 1st & 2nd quote was for fascia boards on Patio - Porter referred to this as the "other work"

I am OK with paying for the $200 for fascia board at patio "extra work needed", but not OK with repay of $300 to Porter Roofing to re-do work that was recently performed by another contractor.

$700 - $400 (work performed) = $300 refund

I would not recommend Porter Roofing to anyone! They are overpriced and their sales rep [redacted] is a rip off artist! Don't ask for an estimate from him! My insurance company would not budge from their estimate compared to Porter Roofing's, therefore I could not use Porter Roofing for the repairs needed! Porter Roofing wanted over $11,000 where the repair needed was only $2500.00!!!! The Emergency repair was $ 2300.00, which [redacted] performed, not Porter Roofing!!!! This sales rep is giving Porter Roofing a bad name! He harrasses people via phone or text and email! this company thinks they should get paid a cut of the emergency repair, which a different company performed, just because he contacted them during the estimate process!!! Just want people to be aware that this company expects payment, just for giving you estimates or helping you find a repair person outside of their company! We did pay them their fee for NOT DOING ANY PHYSICAL WORK!!!

Review: This company had us sign a contract about 10 weeks ago to repair our roof and act as our general contractors for the repairs needed on or home after a severe weather event. Our insurance company has already released the funds for repairs to be done and this company is failing to communicate with us and are not giving any impression that they intend to do the work that was promised and agreed to originally.Desired Settlement: Either this company needs to do the work in a timely fashion or release us from ant contract agreement that was signed previously so that we may repair our home. It has been so long since the damage occurred, that the house has suffered more damages as a result of not repairing the original damage from the storm.

Regards,

I had Porter Roofing coat my flat roof when I bought my house in 2011. After a year and a half, the coating was cracked and peeling. It took several phone calls and emails before I got a response from Porter and they finally sent someone out to look at it. This person said he couldn't understand why they would use the coating they did, because it is uncommon and considered substandard. The company agreed to repair problem area. The guy they send out looked like he lived under a bridge, was rude, and when I checked the "repair", all he had done was brush some new coating over about 5 square feet of the roof, and not even in the area that needed it. I complained to Porter Roofing again, and they eventually agreed to re-coat the whole roof. Long story short, they sent the same guy out again and now, 6 months later, the roof leaks. It is worth mentioning that throughout this whole ordeal, I was never able to get a live person on the phone.
