9/26/2016This letter is being sent re: a customer's allegations against my company. Here is the actual turn of events. Our business is connected thru [redacted], we received what they call a lead for [redacted] L[redacted]. His specifications were to build a free standing deck beside his home. (note item 1)...

Ben went to give him an estimate for the build with a drawing that was ok'd by home owner. (note item 2) We required a down payment to pay primarily for building materials 3500. Which customer paid. In the estimate we would require 1500. When project was complete, customer agreed.Land use permits are the home owner's responsibility, Mr. L[redacted] indicated that no permit was required because the deck would be free standing (not attached to the house). We began the project. Please note that the home owner was on the project site every day that the build was being done and even helped with the process. Never once voiced a complaint. The estimated time frame of the project was originally 4 days we did go over that and the total time was 7 days. On the last day of the project the homeowner gave my husband Ben an adult beverage raised a cheers and stated he lowed the deck and thank you some much, Ben went over all receipts and labor costs with Mr. L[redacted] he gave a check for the remainder of project 1250. (note item 3) and this in our mind was a complete job.The next day [redacted] L[redacted] called us and stated that the check had been cancelled by his wife and then all of the sudden there was everything and anything, (not consistent from one time to the next) wrong with deck. in our opinion the homeowners are looking to have this awesome deck project for free.We have NEVER had an unsatisfied customer before and will not have any in the future hope. This whole series of events has us puzzled. I have also sent photos of the deck build process, judge for yourself. Also, just an FY we had to send a certified letter to this customer requesting no more harassing/threating phone calls and to stay off of our property where we live, because he just showed up for no reason on Sat. morning after threatening phone call.We also spoke to customer before certified letter was sent and told him when deck inspected if there were any issues with the build we would be happy to comply with the building code. He agreed that would be fine. "all want is it to be in compliance with building code in case we ever want to sell. "Which that is the way it was built from the beginning. This isn't our first deck project. If you need any additional info, please let us know we also have messages from this customer recorded for our own protection.
