Portillo's FD Creations was hired to custom build a space for a "built in" 48" refrigerator. Jose came out to my home to look at the space to see what could be done. I sent Jose the specifications on the brand/model of the refrigerator. He provided suggestions and pictures to what he could do. He then provided a quote when we agreed on what was to be done.
The job took 3 days longer than anticipated and Jose kept telling us he was over budget, but he was going to make sure the cabinets were working. I voiced a concern and reminded him of why we hired him in the first place. The cabinets were not completed because he didn't buy the correct drawer slides and the cabinets were not squared and said he was going to return to fix them and the blemishes. During construction, he damaged the existing walls and agreed to also fix the nail punches. We agreed to buy the new drawer slides because we just wanted it to work.
We were going out of town and Jose agreed to come back after we returned to complete the job. While waiting for Jose to complete the job, we had the refrigerator delivered. The way Jose chose to do the work, the refrigerator did not fit. When I called Jose, he admitted that he didn't know what a "built in" really was and what it entailed. He came out on a last minute notice to look at what he could do and offered to come out in two days notice to do the work, but wanted us to pay for half of the labor. I told him I would call him the next day after speaking it over with my husband. I told him that we weren't comfortable with "possible solution" and that we didn't want him to start on the work yet.
I sent him an email following up with the phone call. I asked for him to put his plans down on paper or he could refund us. We have a signed contract with what he was going to do and he also has a warranty on his product. He never completed it and more to the point, didn't do what he was hired for. He claims he did what was asked but the cabinets to this date are not functional.

Refund It is more than two months after the start of the job. To this date we can't use the cabinets/drawers and Jose has not provided a written plan to what needs to be done to fix it. We had two other companies come out to see if it could be salvaged and it can't. We have a signed contract and Jose didn't live up to it. He didn't do his research on what a built in refrigerator and bottom line didn't do what he was hired for.
