Post University, Inc. Reviews (86)

Within the first week of this student’s
enrollment at the University, she contacted her *** Counselor and asked
to move her enrollment from one *** to the next ***. Her
request was granted and she signed a “New *** *** Agreement” indicating that the $drop fee usually charged when
a student drops a class would be waived as long as she took the same class in
the next ***. When she did not take the
course in the next *** per the agreement, she was charged the $drop
fee. On January 17, 2014, our Office of *** *** contacted her about the need to cover the $in charges. On January 21, 2014, she paid the $fee by
credit card. Since the charges have been
paid and her account balance is $0, we are not sure what else she would like us
to do at this point. As explained to her
on January 20, by someone in our *** *** office, she is welcome
to file a petition that provides additional documentation as to why the charge
should be refunded. We trust that this
explanation fully resolves this complaint

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me
Thank you very much

Per the student’s request we approved two petitions which resulted in a reversal of tuition charges for both modules in which she was registered. The student did receive Federal Student Aid during her
enrollment which was applied to nominal course material and fees with the excess being returned to the student or sent back to the Department of Education. There is no credit due to the student or balance due to the University The activity is included in the attached document

After careful review and consideration of your complaint, wehave concluded that we are unable to refund you the money at this timeYouregistered and enrolled with an Admissions Counselor for classes in Module 6,and then spoke with an Academic Success Counselor and Tuition Planner
aboutyour financial aidThe Academic Success Counselor and Tuition Planner youworked with informed you that in order for your financial aid to cover the costof your education you would only be able to enroll in class per moduleAfteryou were provided this information, you remained in classes for Module Youbecame over-enrolled when you did not drop a class from Module and enrolledin another class for Module As stated by your Tuition Planner and AcademicCounselor, you had to be enrolled in one class per module In May 2015, a Tuition Planner reached out to you multipletimes through e-mail, first explaining your award letter and second addressingadditional cost incurred and how to cover that amount through a Parent PlusLoan. Both times, you did not respond to your Tuition Planner Although you are currently withdrawn from the University, there are still actions you may take in order to rectify your situationIf youwould like to get in contact with a Tuition Planner or the Financial Aid Officeat this time we would be happy to assist you in figuring out a repayment planfor your outstanding balance

We have reviewed the student’s activity in the enrolled coursework and specifically in Module We can see that the student was enrolled in two courses that began on 4/27/ The student posted discussions in both of the registered online courses with the latest posting as of
5/6/ Records of her participation including her detailed postings can be provided to the student upon request As the student enrolled in, and participated in the coursework, the student was aware of registration in module The University does not have a record of a subsequent withdrawal from these courses after beginning participation and the student received grades in these courses As the student’s participation in the coursework was confirmed, the student received federal student aid allocated to her enrollment for this period of time and part of this aid was sent to the student. In accordance with the university tuition refund policy, no tuition refunds will be granted for withdrawals after p.mEST of the first Friday of the Module In this instance, the first Friday of the module was 5/1/ Records show that the student participated up to 5/6/and in accordance with the policy is beyond 5/1/therefore the student is responsible for the tuition chargesWe will work with the student to resolve the matter

I have attended this school for three years and has been an excellent experienceThey are very Military friendly and the staff has exceeded my expectations

After a careful review of our files, we did not find any evidence that this parent was provided with incorrect information about her PLUS loan. In addition, the
master promissory note she signed accepting the loan included details on its terms and conditions. Her lender also would have provided her with loan statements and payment instructionsIf she changed her mind once the loan was issued in 2011, we could have worked with her to cancel the loan at that time. However, given that several years have passed, there is not much we can do. We trust this explanation fully resolves this complaint

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:neither my student advisor followed up with the high school district when I filled out the form for him to request them

The student originally began her degree on January 2, 2012. She stopped attending courses after December 13, 2014. In August she filed a complaint and the University worked with the student on an acceptable plan to enable her to finish her
degree.
The resolution was provided as follows:
“We have provided the student with additional information and she understands and has made an acceptable payment arrangement for the balance As a good faith effort by the University, the interest charged on the balance is being removed.”
The response was accepted by the consumer
In addition to the concessions made to her account, the University agreed to allow her to retake two of her courses which she previously did not complete, at no additional charge. She was allowed to enroll in those courses at the next available enrollment period which began on August 29, and ended on October 23,
At the time she returned to class, her completed coursework was assessed and it was determined that she needed to complete credits to fulfill her requirements. She was provided with this unofficial degree plan outlining her required remaining coursework. Included in the assessment was a credit course which she completed at another University after she had stopped attending courses at Post University in 2014. This transcript was received on September 13, 2016.
When candidates for an associate’s degree transfer credits in to the University, there are several policies to which the student must adhere. The University Residency Requirements policy allows students to transfer in credits toward their degree, however, “Candidates for an associate degree must earn at least their last credits at Post University and must satisfy all degree requirements, including at least credit hours in the major.” In this instance, the student had already completed credits at the University and was within credits of completing the credit requirement. The credit hours which she transferred in were earned elsewhere during the time in which she was completing her last credit hours and therefore did not satisfy the policy requirement
Additionally, while the University allows students to take coursework at another University, the policy states, “Post University students must have permission from the Office of the Registrar prior to taking courses at another accredited college or university, if they intend to transfer those credits back to Post.” The student did not seek permission prior to enrolling in the coursework at another college and did not satisfy the policy requirement
Because the credit she earned at another University did not meet these policy requirements, a waiver to the policy was requested. The Student’s Academic Success Counselor assisted in this request to apply the credit to her degree to satisfy the requirement for graduation. This request was made on October 21, and was approved on November 3, 2016. The student has been graduated from her degree program with a graduation date of October, 23, 2016.
As the student has graduated with her Associate’s Degree, no further action is required

This student signed his intent to enroll form and received
his welcome letter prior to the start of the course. Both these documents
included information on the University’s ADD/DROP policy. He also logged
into his class prior to the end of the ADD/DROP
period using the username and
password provided in the welcome letter. In addition, he had a conversation
with his admissions counselor indicating that he was going to go to *** *** to order the needed software; and he had a conversation with his tuition
planner about his *** and high school transcripts, so it’s clear to us that
he had the information he needed to move forward. Although we sent him a
financial aid award letter, he did not sign and return it as required.
It’s also important to note that we received several phone calls from someone
other than the student who yelled at our staff to the point where a supervisor
was called in for assistanceGiven *** *** regulations (***), we
were unable to provide any information about the student to this other
caller. However, we did explain the University’s ADD/DROP policy.
This student’s request to drop the class came days (business days) after
the ADDP/DROP period had ended. Thus, the student is responsible for the
charges. He is welcome to file a petition providing additional documentation as to why these charges should be dropped. Instructions for filing a petition can be found in the
University catalog and on the websiteWe trust this detailed explanation fully
resolves this matter

The University has a policy with allows students to request a review of additional information for extenuating circumstances When a student provides sufficient supporting documentation, the University, through its Petitions Committee, can move forward with the review and decision process
In her first module of enrollment, the student did request this review and provided all supporting documentation needed to arrive at a decision The committee was able to review the information and provide her with a decision The decision in that case was for an approval of the reversal of her tuition charges In her second module of enrollment, after she participated through half of the course, the student again requested a review of her circumstances for a reversal of those tuition charges In this instance she submitted a request without providing any supporting documentation The student was immediately contacted by a staff member to request all required documentation in order for her request to be properly reviewed an processed by the committee As the student did not send the requested information, the committee had to move forward with a denial
Currently, the student did provide the requested information through her compliant and the committee immediately reconvened to take the information under careful consideration The documentation was found to be sufficient to support her request and the committee was able to approve her requestThe University strives to be empathetic to exceptional occurrences of unusual circumstances but in all cases will require sufficient supporting documentation in order to review each instance with consistencyThe matter has been resolved

I am rejecting this response because:
Well I'm glad everyone made their commission off meThis is ridiculous why would I have stayed enrolled if I was going to be charged? I was lied to but since they work off commission it makes sense as to why the guy I talked to would tell me thatFrom other complInts on here you guys obviously do this a lot Thanks for ruining the college experience for me and stealing money from prospective students

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
I asked for a resolution, not an argument I had no knowledge until last minute Instead of trying to prove I'm wrong and taking thousands of dollars from me I still don't have my diploma The account went to collections and I'm receiving an 18% interest on the tuition owed Let's give me an affordable payment arrangement instead of fighting me Wouldn't this be easier? How can you say you're helping me with the payment arrangement and continue arguing about who said what In your last statement you said you would continue to try to help me with payment arrangementsBut yet you forwarded my account over to collections so how did you help me?
Sincerely,

We have contacted the appropriate government agency on this student's behalf to have the necessary information corrected The government agency has not yet provided a timeline for making of the change, which must be done manually by someone in their offices We continue to follow up with
both the student and the agency, and sincerely hope the issue will be resolved shortly

The “free” course to which the student refers is a
non-credit online orientation course that all new students are encouraged to
complete.  She is correct in stating that there was no charge for the
orientation course.  However, this student was enrolled...

in two
credit-bearing courses.  She completed the first course in which she was
enrolled ([redacted]), and received a grade and academic 3 credits.  Thus, she
is responsible for the charges in the amount of $1575.   This student
also was registered for a second 3-credit course ([redacted]) in the next module,
and was billed accordingly.  Although we did not receive a withdrawal
request per University policy, we see that she did not participate in the
second course.  As a courtesy, we will remove the charges in the amount of
$1575 for this second course only.  As a result, the student is now
responsible for an outstanding balance of $1575 for her first course. We trust
this explanation fully resolves this complaint.

This
student enrolled in and received grades for five classes over a two-module
period, and is responsible for the charges associated with these courses.
The student also enrolled and participated in two...

additional classes past the
ADD/DROP period in a third module, and enrolled in but did not participate in
two more classes the following module.  According to university policy,
she should be responsible for the charges associated with all classes in which
she was enrolled past the ADD/DROP period – a total of nine courses.
However, we will remove the charges for the four courses in which she did not
earn grades as a courtesy.  We ask that the student get back in contact
our Office of Student Finance to make a payment arrangement to cover the
balance due on the five courses in which she earned grades.  It’s also
important to note that we have tried on a number of occasions to work with this
student to establish a reasonable payment plan to cover the balance due, and we
will continue to work with her in a professional and respectful manner and ask
that she do the same.  We trust this explanation fully resolves this
complaint.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: of course since I was giving misinformation by [redacted] and [redacted], it would not be documented in my sons file.  I had made it very clear to them that I did not want to sign the loan and they made it appear that there was no other option for him.  The school is saying that had I notfified them that I wanted to cancel the loan in 2011-then they could of assisted me in doing so?!  But does that mean my son would of been forced to leave the school or would they at that time have done the dependency override to allow him to file as independent.  Its funny, because after I signed the first 2 semesters and declined all after that-they approved the override for him.  It makes no sense that if I were already in debt with a student loan, that I would of signed for a plus loan for more than my student loan balance.  Furthermore, the only reason why it is years later is because I was led to believe that once he FINISHED school, the payments would be due and could be transferred to him.  Regardless of what the paperwork said, they verbally led me to believe that there were additional options not on paper.  I am usually very very thorough in getting things in writing, but because of the pressure I felt-I overlooked that request at the time.  I will just pursue with speaking with legal counsel regarding this issue.  Sincerely,[redacted]

Per the student's prior compliant, the student claimed claimed not to owe money for coursework in module 5.  In response to the complaint, the University performed research into the student's enrollment and billing activity for Module 5.  The research showed that the student had not been billed for any courses during that time.
We have performed an additional review of this student's activity based upon this new response. The student is now stating there was no participation in either course in which the student was enrolled during Module 4.  After performing research into the Blackboard system, the University has record that the student logged into each class 13 times for a total of 26 times in both classes with activity beyond the first unit.  Students are responsible for enrolling themselves in courses and are sent confirmation of enrollment prior to the start of classes.  For students who remain enrolled, participate and do not drop in accordance with the University add/drop policy, those students are responsible for course charges. In this instance, the student enrolled in and participated in both courses in Module 4 and did not notify the school of intent to withdraw from these courses; therefore the student is responsible for the current outstanding charges.
