Potomac Autohaus Reviews (1)

Review: On Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, I had my car battery replaced and installed at Potomac Autohaus [invoice #[redacted]]. I returned on Tuesday, Sept 30 and had a tune up, serpentine belt and idler pully replaced [invoice #[redacted]]. On Friday Oct 3 I had some problems with my car on the way to work. Two lights came on; the ABS and the mechanic light. The power steering went out. I called the dealer [[redacted]'s [redacted], [redacted], MD [redacted], [redacted]], as there were 3 outstanding recalls on my 2004 [redacted]. I was told it could be one of those. I asked if the car was safe to drive and was told that the power steering may go out, but it was safe to drive to the dealer to have it fixed. On the way to the dealer my car died. I had it towed to the dealer. After they did a diagnostic, [redacted] of their office said that the alternator had been left unplugged. Because of that my alternator had burned out and my battery was drained. [redacted]'s [redacted] replaced and installed a new battery and alternator. The cost was $784.86.

I returned to Potomac Autohas to tell them that I felt that they had handled my repair substandardly by leaving the alternator unplugged. I spoke with Mr. Warren E[redacted]. He told that that that was impossible as if that had happened my battery light would have been on and I would have noticed it. He made me start my car and unplugged the alternator to show me this. He said that he was a ** trained technican and if the alternator was unplugged he was 100% sure that the battery light would show on the dash. We popped the hood, he unplugged the alternator and I started the car. The alternator light did not come on. He then said that 9 times out of 10 it would. [redacted] told me I should have returned to Autohaus. I explained that I went to the dealer because I thought that the problem with my car had to do with one of the recalls on my car. Mr. E[redacted] said that he wanted to have my old alternator and battery to test. I said I would pick it up for him. He said that really wouldn't mean anything because they would probably just give me an old dead alternator and battery that was lying around; that there would be no way to know if it had been the alternator and battery from my car.

[redacted] tried to reach Mr. E[redacted] at [redacted], but didn't get through. He said he would try again and that I hadn't hear the last of this; that he would get to the bottom of this. I have not heard from him and frankly do not believe my contacting him will do anything to help me as Mr. E[redacted] stated several times that Autohaus did nothing wrong, that [redacted] was ripping me off by removing a perfectly good alternator and battery, and that he wouldn't trust Oursiman to give Autohaus the alternator and battery from my car.Desired Settlement: I would like Potomac Autohaus to pay me the $784.86 that I paid to [redacted]'s [redacted]. The repair cost was incurred because of an error (failure to plug-in the alternator) when they serviced my car on October 3, 2014.
