Review: In July 2012, I planned a travel to India. I had a short time to get the travel shots and a lot of work to travel to far to get the shots. I called my insurance company ([redacted]) for help. They did some calling and told me to go to Potomac Physicians Associates (PPA) in [redacted], MD for the shots. I did a conference call with PPA's billing dept ([redacted]) and confirmed that they can provide the shots, I will be charged for the shots only and my insurance company will pay for the shots. I got the shots at PPA in July.

In Oct/Nov 2012 I went for my regular checkup with my primary care physicians. In early 2013, I got a bill from my primary care physician for my visit in Oct/Nov 2012, which was denied by my insurance.

I called my insurance and learned that PPA had billed my travel shots visit as an office visit and as a result my later visit to my Primary Care Physicians was denied.

[redacted] advised me to talk to PPA to charge the visit as travel shots and [redacted] can pay for my Primary Care visit.

I talked to PPA billing in April 2013. I had two issue; one, that I was charged for an office visit which was not what PPA billing had explained me and I was charged for a Doctor’s fee while being given shots by a PA. If I would have been advised appropriately before my visit I had an option of asking to be seen by a doctor or refuse to availa the service. My rights of decision were denied by incorrect advice before the service was provided. PPA billing told me that Doctor [redacted] will call back to discuss. Two months later I still did not get a call back and called to follow up. They had not corrected the charges. At that point I requested [redacted] to rescind the payment to PPA and pay to my Primary Care Physiscians. [redacted] payed for the travel shots for PPA, but reverted the office visit charges. I talked to PPA one more time in Sept 2013 and asked them to have the doctor call me. The doctor never called me. I received two bills from PPA in the meantime and called them again in Nov 2013. Finally the doctor called me today and blamed me for not taking responsibility for a service provided. I suggested the doctor to resolve the charges by splitting the charges since a lot of time has been wasted and both side need to take responsibility of the communication breakdown. Dr. [redacted] did not feel she needs to take responsibility of miscommunication from her billing departmenta and believes I should be responsible. I believe it was PPA’s responsibility and I have done everything to resolve the issue ammicably.Desired Settlement: The office visit charges from PPA should be waived.
