Review: [redacted] Sanitary Service has hired a collection agency, [redacted], to collect a debt of $195 from my wife, [redacted]. The service provided was the pumping of a septic tank at [redacted] Pa,, [redacted]. The date of the service was 5/7/2009. [redacted] has NEVER resided at that address. She was the realtor who sold the property in June, 2009, and that is the only association she has had with that property. After numerous discussions with both [redacted] Sanitary Service and [redacted], my wife and I decided to pay the amount due, $195, due to fears of her credit score being negatively affected. I have an invoice from the collection agency and from [redacted] Sanitary Service showing the amount due was $195.00. We wrote a check on 1/27/2014 for the amount due. I sent the check certified mail, and have tracking from the U.S. Postal Service which states the check was delivered on 1/30/2014 at 9:47am. I also have a copy of the cancelled check which shows it was cashed on 1/30/2014.

Today, 2/10/2014, we received a letter from the collection agency stating we owe them another $50, with no explanation of why we owe this money. My wife and I are now thinking this whole thing is some sort of scam.

As I stated before, we paid not because we owe the money, but because we were worried about our credit scores being negatively affected. However, now we believe this may be a scam and harassment from [redacted] Sanitary Service.Desired Settlement: We would like [redacted] Sanitary Service to put a stop to the collection agency they hired. We have all the proof needed to show the balance due was paid in full, and yet we are still being harassed by this agency. My wife has lived at her current address for the last 14 years, and has no association with [redacted], Pa other than being the realtor who sold the property. The way we see it, unless [redacted] Sanitary service can show proof that she lived at that address, [redacted] owes us the $195 back. However, our desired outcome would be to have [redacted] Sanitary Service stop [redacted] from harassing us with unwanted call and letters, and to have the collection agency stop all contact with us.
