Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:I am responding to the message send by this business Powerhouse Cycles. Yes Owner *** and I had spoken several times via phone about the status of the scooterIn our conversations I explained to *** if he could find out what was the problem with the scooter because I had no clue*** did advise that he had cleaned the carburetor and check the fuel lines but the scooter would not start*** stated was going to call another shop to find out more details on the scooter because of his little knowledge on the Qlink 150cc Sienna.*** later called me back and he stated that in order to find out what was the problem his employees would need to remove the engine at a cost of $not including partsAt this time, I told *** not to continue work due to the cost of removing the engineWhen I arrived to the shop on 8/4/*** did make me aware of the damages to my scooter by employees and offered to discount me $and later $This was to be discounted off the $for the balance and still I would be responsible to fix the scooter damage part*** was offering me one or the other, paid the full balance at $and he would repair the damage to the scooter done by his employeesNOTE: *** explained he get his paint and body work FREE from a buddy at *** *** located in San Antonio TXThe other option was the discount he first offered, $off. I believe a good business owner would have covered the cost of $and repair my damage scooter since he get FREE work done at *** ***What really shocked me was the permanent black in color marker used to conceal the large crackThis makes the crack look worse as it does not match the original paintYes I did agree to wash the balance owed of $due to frustration and angerI brought my scooter to this business expecting a quick fix but instead left with more costs as I will need to repair the damage on my own cost.As far as him referencing his experience, this owner was going to charge me almost $500.00-$to repair a $clogged exhaustI am just glad I stopped the service before I owed this large bill plus a cracked damage scooter

In response to the complaint forwarded. When the customer came in he expressed that the unit had not ran in quite a while and that he requested a carb and fuel system clean and based on the length of time it sat. That was the service that we performed. At that time we had 1.5 hours of labor at a...

cost of 105.00 into the unit. And the unit would not start. We then checked numerous other items at no cost to the customer which included trying another carb, the vacum system, the fuel filter and all other related items pertaining to the fuel system issue based on the information we obtained from the customer at the time the unit was dropped off. The fuel system and related components are typically in no related to the exhaust.  And after checking the other items in a attempt to diagnose the issue further we still could not get the unit to start. These other attempts took approx 3 more hours for which the customer was not billed for. We then suggested based on what the scooter was doing that we check the compression and valves to attempt to find the issue. And we suggested this because of the air that was coming back out of the carb when we attempted to start the scooter. I contacted the customer and he agreed. For which there was to be a additional 2 hours for that service. We then check ed the valves for which the exhaust valve was tight. After adjusting them we then tried to start the unit and it still did the same thing. So we compression tested it and it tested at 170lbs but had a air leak some where. That is when we suggested further repair based on those findings. When we discussed those repairs with the customer he declined those repair. So all total we truly had about 8 hours labor into the unit but I adjusted the bill to 3 hours at $70 a hour (giving a $10 per labor hour discount because the customer was law enforcement) potentially could have been a $640 repair bill 8X$80 per normal labor hour was reduced to a $210 bill of 3 hours at $70 per labor hour.In regards to the damaged body panel. When the customer came to pick up the unit on 8-4-16 I immediately made him aware of the damaged body panel. And took accountability for it. And at that time I explained to him exactly what happened and offered to reimburse him for the damage by either replacing it or repairing it. He then stated he had to go and talk to his wife. She then came in and looked at the bike where all 3 of us discussed it further in regards to how we could resolve the issue. I stated again that I would reimburse them for another panel or have it repaired or I could take a dollar amount off the bill. However the wanted to handle it. The 2 of them went back outside to discuss it and the wife asked how much the bill was and I explained to her the bill and dollar mount and she stated that if I'd knock the bill down to $110 that would be fine with her. I agreed. The once again went back outside to talk. They both returned saying that they were going to sell the unit and that the person stated that with the repair to fix the panel the individual that was going to purchase it was going to knock money off of the offering price. I then said, "what would you like me to do"? And they sated that if I wiped the bill and called it a wash they were fine with the damage to the unit. I agreed. They then came up front and I handed them a invoice showing what we had done and what they had agreed to as it pertained to the damage and the invoice.I would like to say that we agreed to pay for the damage that we caused. We state that advised the customer of that and never hid anything from them. Based on our information we received from the customer we used that information as a starting point. That is why we ask questions so we have a starting point and don't waste a lot of time searching out false issues or concerns. We did service the carb and the fuel system as they requested and if you go off the merit of that alone the bill would have been $105 no matter what. As far as the exhaust being clogged I have worked in this industry for 16 years and have never heard of that ever happening. As for the reimbursement of the damaged panel via repair or replacement the customer accepted the offer to accept the unit at N/C because of that. While I can understand the frustration and am happy that they did get the problem fixed at a cost of $50. The bottom line is we performed the service that they requested based on the information they supplied and that fee would have been $105 minimum. We also found in the course of performing that service a other potential issue (the tight exhaust valve) and corrected that issue as well. So the final bill of $210 was more than reasonable for the service we performed. And while it may not have corrected the issue we did perform those services and they agreed in person with us performing those services. so those charges are valid. As for the damaged panel that is valid as well and we accepted and owned up to the fact that we did it. For which the accepted the unit as it was in lieu of a payment for those services. See the attached file of the invoice and read the notes that were put on the invoice at the time the agreement was made and the unit was picked up.

In response to Mr [redacted] and his rejection. His contention is that once the exhaust was cleaned the scooter ran fine. Let me make a few points:1st-he stated the unit had sat for around 8 months. So if the carb and fuel system had not been cleaned the unit would have not ran. Due to the effects of Ethanol in the carb and fuel system. be it the exhaust was clogged or not2nd-we cleaned the carb and fuel system as per his request when he brought it in and dropped it off3rd-the fee for that service is $105 (the service would have had to been performed either way)4th-the scooter had damage to the panel just below where we cracked it (when we grabbed it to move it-it was not dropped as earlier stated by Mr [redacted]) as evident by the different color paint. As I pointed out to him when I acknowledged we cracked the panel5th-I never said I could get the work done for free. There is a associated cost with getting it fixed, even for me. But it won't be $200-$250 as he was instructed it would be for him (by a potential whole sale buyer). So this is how I propose to resolve this issue. My business performed a service that Mr [redacted] requested. And the fee for that service was $105. He took the unit somewhere else and got it for $50. If you deduct that from the $105 for the service we performed per his request he would owe my business $65. If he agrees to pay that and have the panel removed (given the circumstances I am not willing to remove or reinstall the panel once the repair is complete). I will have the panel repaired as I agreed to do in the beginning. In closing I am still running a business and I did perform the service he requested (and then some). And after paying to have the service done, and to have the panel repaired even with collecting $65 I'll be in the negative bit I will be a little closer to breaking even. So that is my proposal. [redacted]
