Review: I have a Generac Generator which is not working and under warranty. Power Pro was contacted by Generac to come and diagnose and replace the control board and repair. they were notified ALL will be covered under warranty. knowing that, [redacted] from Power Pro asked me for a credit card up front while setting up an appointment date. I explained that Generac ([redacted] the Tech) said this is not necessary and is covered in full. [redacted] from PP got annoyed so I had [redacted] from Generac call and confirm he will be paid and further explained that he told me the repair will cost $800 to $845 - I asked for the breakdown how much is the part. [redacted] replied about $600 the rest is service. I currently work for an authorized parts wholesaler and know that part list for $572, then discounted to cost $273. When I told [redacted] PP this he went wild and said well that is what the charge will be! I see what he does, he collects the payment from the Mfg (Generac) and then in turn rips off the Customer saying oh the part was not covered (for any reason he can come up with) and charges the persons credit card. WELL TODAY, HE RIPPED OFF THE WRONG CUSTOMER - SOMEONE WHO KNOWS MUCH BETTER!! Now confronted, he lied and said to Generac, that my control board was salt corroded. WELL again, I am one step ahead of this crook!! I hired an Engineer to be present upon the service call and will write if needed the board was BEAUTIFUL and did NOT require replacement!! Even PP Tech said he did not need to do the replacement, BUT he will do it anyway. SURE, so now he can have another GOOD board for the next Customer to rip off for $600 ++ MY Generator is still NOT working and was left in worse condition - he removed fuses and took apart my transfer box and ordered a starter from the mfg under my warranty to be replaced. HE IS NOT ALLOWED ON MY PREMISSES!!Desired Settlement: now, because he is scrambling and dishonest and very MAD. he told my Mfg Generac that my unit is salt ridden and in turn Generac will not make any further warranty replacements!!! MY UNIT HAS NO SALT, NEVER DID!! THIS COMPANY SHOULD LOSE THEIR POSITION WITH GENERAC AS AN AUTHORIZED REPAIR COMPANY!! PLEASE HAVE SOMEONE CONTACT ME FOR FURTHR DETAILS ON THIS MATTER! Consumers should NOT have to DEAL with DISHONEST companies such as this one!!!

I am in receipt of your letter dated August * pursuant to a letter sent to your from [redacted]. I first want to thank you for not being judgmental and looking to assist by being informative.

Our policy of collecting a credit card prior to making any claimed warranty visit is obviously to protect us from misguided, incorrect or fraudulent claims made by the end user. We do more than 4000 service visits a year and are GENERAC's leading service shop here on Long Island. Every other similar shop has the same practice.

Most of the calls such as this do end up as warranty, and the client is never charged one penny. However, as you might imagine, some equipment is installed incorrectly or damaged causing the failure. In these cases GENERAC will not honor the warranty.

I will not get into the specifics about this case as it is very convoluted with many twists and turns, and it is behind us. As you might imagine, no one likes to be told that what they believe to be true and correct is not, especially of it costs them money.

We always go the extra mile to provide the best and consistent service to all of our customers, and we will continue to do so.
