Powers Tire and Service Reviews (2)

Review: On April 19, 2013, I purchased 4 trailer tires from Powers Tire & Auto in Sheboygan, WI. After less than 5,000 miles, 2 of the tires (both on the passenger side of the trailer) blew out on March 21, 2014, and it caused quite a bit of damage to the trailer. I had to replace the tires in Fort Worth, TX. After being home for 2 weeks, I took the blown tires back to the dealer. He told me he would send the tires in to see what kind of adjustment I would get. I've talked to the dealer numerous times and have no trouble with the dealer, but he tells me that the supplier, U. S. Tire and Exhaust, is not doing their job, and there is nothing he can do about it. It's been six weeks, and I have not received an adjustment on the tires. The dealer also tells me that he is not free to give out information (address, phone #, email address) on this supplier, so I am not able to contact them directly.Desired Settlement: I would like an "in-store" credit with the dealer, so that I can get proper replacement tires. I would also like to be able to have the damage to my trailer fixed

I got a phone call from [redacted] about a vibration in his vehicle. I work in the Manitowoc store and had set up an appointment in the Sheboygan store, where [redacted] purchased his tires. I met [redacted] in Sheboygan to address his complaint. [redacted] first told me that he did not want his Kelly tires that he had purchased and would like to get Goodyear tires instead. [redacted] is complaining of a vibration in the rear end of his truck. [redacted]s claims that another shop put the vehicle on the rack and spun the tires showing him that there is some kind of hop. I explained to him that this is not a proper way to check tires while the vehicle is hanging on a rack and we would take the tires off the vehicle and check for any road force problems. After checking the tires, we found no issues with the tires. We rotated the tires and took the vehicle for another ride. The vibration stayed in the rear of the vehicle. We again rotated the tires, one at a time, and went on more road tests. The vibration never moved up to the front of the vehicle indicating that the cause of the vibration is coming from somewhere else and not the tires. I explained this to [redacted] and he informed me that he had recently changed out his rear joints on the drive shaft and he accidentally dropped the drive shaft on to the floor. I explained to [redacted] that dropping your drive shaft most likely knocked it out of balance and this would definitely cause a vibration the the rear of his truck. I informed [redacted] that if he still had a vibration after getting the drive shaft checked, I would try another set of tires. If he wanted to go with the Goodyear brand tires instead of the Kelly tires, he would have to pay the difference for the more expensive tire. [redacted] did not want to pay more. I told him I could get him into 4 different Kelly tires at no charge and he did not want to do that. He told me he would get his drive shaft checked and get back to me. Since then, [redacted] has not had his drive shaft checked. [redacted] has contacted Revdex.com, Goodyear and other sources. Goodyear has talked to [redacted]. Goodyear has now called me and agrees with me with what is going on with this vehicle. They are willing to upgrade [redacted] for the cost which he does not want to pay. I have talked to [redacted] and decided to move him up 1/2 size. This way he can get 4 Goodyear tires and not need to pay any additional costs. This is want [redacted] wants to do and hopefully this will make him happy. But we will have to see.
