Review: [redacted] charged $400 for a $160 part -- FOR A MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR.

The part was a mass airflow sensor --- A PART THAT IS APPROXIMATELY 2 X 3 INCHES BIG, he claims cost him $350. It took a whole 2 minutes to screw it on as I watched, two screws! That's all, it sits right on top, I or anyone could have unscrewed TWO SCREWS, put a new one on, and screwed in two new screws.

Actually, there were THREE screws, so it WOULD HAVE taken him maybe three minutes, if he put the three screws on like it should have been but he broke one off...no matter, he charged $50 labor for TWO MINUTES!

I DID NOT KNOW HOW MUCH THE PART WAS...TIL NOW. Another mechanic checked the price, the price on a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR IS ONLY $160 MAX. --- not $350 for the part. THAT IS MY COMPLAINT, HE CHARGED MORE THAN TWICE THE COST OF THE PART. HE CHARGED $350 FOR THIS PART --- AND IT DID NOT FIX THE COMPLAINT,THE CAR STILL STALLS --- ON TOP OF THE $350, he added another $50 HE SAID FOR LABOR, FOR A TOTAL OF $400.

My complaint is obvious. He way, way, way overcharged. . but there is more, on top of this, he would not take my Debit Card as payment --- he said CASH OR CHECK ONLY . . .then went on and on and on how single women ripped him off in the past! etc.

I said I don't have $400 cash, and asked him to double check the price on the part. . .he insisted $350 was the price of the part.

I do not carry checks AT ALL, only a debit card. He made me go all the way back to the ATM at the local Kwik Trip, and threatened that if I didn't pay right then he would turn me into a collection agency. He wouldn't let me pay $200, then another $200 at the end of the week when I got paid, he made me go into my savings.

My second complaint, besides the overcharge, is the way he treated me with unjustified threats to a collection agency, and putting me in the category of a "single MOM" which I am NOT A SINGLE MOM --- AND NEVER WAS!

WHAT A WEIRDO I DEALT WITH THAT DAY AND I THINK YOU SHOULD KNOW.Desired Settlement: Very justifiably I am asking a refund of $240, which is only a portion of the $400 cash that I paid, I DO HAVE THE RECEIPT THAT I PAID $400 IN FULL IN CASH THAT DAY.

SINCE THE PART DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM ENTIRELY, IT JUST STALLED AGAIN TODAY, I SHOULD BE ASKING FOR A REFUND OF THE FULL $400, IT WOULD ONLY BE FAIR, BUT I SEE THAT THIS IS A VERY DISHONEST PERSON I AM DEALING WITH.

I was a brand new customer, and never did business with him before this.

when I first looked at the car the first time I took about 25 minutes of my time to test drive the car and never charged her..when she came back the second time she came back and was on a time schedule because of getting to work which I understand I replaced mass air flow sensor took it for a ride and car was fixed .to this day I have never heard back nore has she left me a message on my voice mail to have me call her back.if there was a problem [redacted] should of at least tried to contact me.the mass air flow sensor cost me way more than 160.00 .like any buisness we have over head and have to make. .I am willing to give her 100.00 to make [redacted] happy.if [redacted] can show me proof that it did not fix car [redacted] can bring back new sensor and I will refund her full.I stand behind my work.
