Very poor service and workmanship. Not a journeyman plumber as he presented himself as.June 12, 2015To Whom It may concern,I am writing this letter to complain about service provided by PRAIRE ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOLUTIONS (PAES ) of Saskatoon, Sk. The service provided was for the supply, install and commissioning of plumbing and heating equipment for a new single unit residence located at [redacted]. in Saskatoon, Sk. The owners are [redacted] of the same address. The total amount paid to PAES is $41,370.72 .The complaints are for the incompletion of work, poor workmanship and incompetence overseeing trades & staff. [redacted]. Of significance are:1. [redacted], (Owner of PAES) operated under the plumbing permit # [redacted] under [redacted] owned and operated by [redacted]. Calls to resolve our issues to [redacted] have been made and messages left with no response. Acting as a plumber and representing himself as such, we learned [redacted] is not a journeyman plumber.2. The boiler unit was not commissioned thoroughly. Installed by PAES, checking of controls for both heating and cooling was not done in conjunction with our journeyman electrician. This is the responsibility of the plumber to ensure the boiler is indeed function properly. We have since called upon others to verify operation and ensure no damages will ensue stemming from PAES failure to commission properly. 3. The A/C unit was installed without proper commissioning; same issues as with the boiler. 4. The HRV unit was installed with access door to the wall. This does not allow changing of the filter.5. Main bath toilet tank was not secured resulting in a leak. This damaged the base board (painted MDF) which was repaired. Numerous calls to [redacted] to witness and repair the leak proved to no avail. 6. The chimney pipe from the boiler (PVC pipe) expands and contracts when subject to heating and cooling. The pipe passes through holes created in the wood top and bottom plates in the floor and ceiling. The holes do not have adequate clearance with the pipe rubbing against the wood. This makes a sound of dripping water and is very audible during time of expansion and contraction. When asked to repair PAES told me it was my problem to remedy.7. Water to the ensuite bath tub comes out brown in color when not used on a frequent basis. It was observed by journeyman HVAC technician the circulation pump installed for domestic hot water (to this tub) is not correct and will create rust. 8. The sinks are missing seals resulting in leaking drains and water damage to inside of cabinets. The traps are not installed properly. 9. Heated floor piping does not have capability of venting entrapped air; not properly designed.10. We were missing delivery of goods assumed under his direction. This was corrected after our involvement once the goods were required for installation.11. $ 300.00 was to cover shingle modifications to the roof stemming from PAES not installing boiler venting well in advance of shingle installation. Adequate time and notice was given to Mr. [redacted].12. Urinal in basement not permanently sealed13. Hot and cold taps reversed and left unresolved for 2 months. Kitchen sink did not have hot water for 2 months after occupancy.14. Shower bar not against wall tile and scratched. Water can leak behind lead to problems.15. Water taps on outside wall installed crooked16. Damage to closet wall (hole) for pedestal sink installation create by PAES. As per the house plan and selected with PAES, a pedestal sink was to be installed. However, a vanity sink was plumbed in that needed to be changed. Reconstruction of wall to accommodate pedestal piping was installed. 17. Heated floor area not uniform with heat....a hot spot exists. Perimeter walls noticeably cooler.18. Elbow to septic installed with Fernco clamp stemming from PAES breaking joint of elbow. We questioned this and the "inspector permitted this coupling for this repair". Desired SettlementCover costs to have proper installation of equipmentBusiness Response I was contated by [redacted] on May 19th that his house was abnormally hot. I completed a service call and diagnosed that the boiler had been improperly wired and that the pump was continuously circulating. I disconnected the pump and told him to have the electrician who wired it fix the issue.I was again contacted by [redacted] on Saturday May 30th at 11:30 am. He told me that the electrician would be there at 3:00 pm and he would like me to be there. I told him that I would do my best to be there. He texted me back right after that he demanded I be there and he had given me enough notice. This issue was of the electrician and not mine. This was the final factor in my decision to quit working for them. [redacted]. [redacted]. As far as uncompleted work mentioned. This job was not completed when I quit. I have never been paid for work that was not completed. The last bill that I was paid for Was Jan 15, 2015 and this bill was for work that was completed. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)On may 12th PAES was contacted to complete his workMay 19th PAES contacted to be present when electrician power up A/C.The list of open items to be completed on this trip. May 29th PAES informed electrician to deal with A/c and boiler. Sat may 30th PAES was to show up and did not. This day was set aside with PAES to complete these issues and those on the list he was provided. Phone call to PAES leading up too the weekend was to ensure they would be present. We were not advised otherwise he was not intending to come despite it being the weekend. Weekend work was done in the past. Wiring was not the problem by the journeyman electrician, PAES instruction was. PAES was to commission in the presence of electrician to see all checks out. PAES was given the final opportunity to respond by June 1st if he was intending to complete work. No reply. A replacement contractor was hired to finish. [redacted]. Contractors that did not complete work or failed to honor contract were asked the same WHEN do u finish. [redacted].PAES has not explained or dealt with. this.
