Precision Door Service Reviews (%countItem)

Charged $693.05 to fix my garage and 6 months later I am experiencing the same issue. I'm not sure if I was taken advantage of for the work done. Help
I called for a service to my garage door in June of 2018. The garage door company Precision door service of Fern Park, FL came on June 10th to come and perform the service. I was at work at the time of the service but my husband was home for the work to be completed. This was the first time my husband and I have experienced an issue with our garage door because we are first time home owners. We saw the company had great reviews and chose them. I received a phone call from my husband stating the cost of the repair was about $700. I was shocked at the price but unknowingly agreed. Now in December of 2018, my garage door will not open or close. It was the same issue we had back in June. We were told by the company that if there was an issue, we were guaranteed it to be fixed under warranty. After checking other local areas, we believe we were overcharged for the service. We are sending this complaint to get have our door repaired without paying anymore than we already did. Please us to get the answers we need. Attached is a copy of the receipt of the service.

Desired Outcome

The resolution I am seeking is a repair of my garage door free of charge and proof of the cost charged prior is an accurate and reasonable price.

I can understand the frustrations of repairing a garage door for the first time. When arriving at a customer's home we do a 25-Point safety inspection on the door and opener. (I've attached both inspections) In most cases we can provide several options to repair the garage door, but as the technician expl***ed to your husband, the only option we had at your home was to convert the "Wayne Dalton TorqueMaster" system to a traditional torsion system. This conversion cost $693.05. We waved the $65 service fee and gave an addition $15 off. This price included a full conversion with springs, rollers, drums, cables, bearings, bottom brackets, spring pad, labor and a "Lifetime Warranty". Your husband agreed to the service and singed for us to do the work.

Our technician was at the home for three houses completing the work. After completing the work our technician inspected the door ag*** and everything was now working correctly. Your husband was sent a request for a review and he gave us a 10 out of 10, indicating the system was working to his satisfaction and he was completely satisfied. In fact, the entire system was working correctly when we finished and continued to work for over 6 and a half months.

In December you called and said, "the light was blinking, and the door would not close." The CSR expl***ed to you that if the problem you are experiencing is related to the previous work, the repairs would be covered under warranty and you would not be charged. Upon arrival our technician found the door in good working condition. The problem was with a safety sensor on the garage door opener. This was not the same problem, nor did it have anything to do with the previous repairs. Ag***, I know this can be frustrating but unfortunately it was unrelated.

I'm very sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with the service we provided. Unfortunately, this is the first I've heard about your dissatisfaction. I've looked all through our records and we have not had a phone call nor an email allowing us to try and rectify the situation. It was only today when I received a call from the Revdex.com about the complaint that I was made aware of this issue. I'm sure we could have rectified the situation and I would have gladly compensated you for the repairs in December.

You mentioned in your complaint that you only called us because of the great reviews we have. We have all of the great reviews and reputation because we try to provide our customer with the best experience. If we make a mistake, we correct them.

I received a phone call from Mr. Tim C on February 15th. He mentioned he was not made aware of this issue prior to this date. Mr. C was very professional, understanding, and helped guide my husband and I to a fair resolution to our issue. After going over what happened at the initial visit for the garage door repair, we were made aware that the technician did not complete the service to the company standards. Mr. C was very apologetic and resolved our problem by issuing us a refund for part of the services provided. Going forward, he guaranteed that if we ever experience another issue with the service, that we will receive an immediate resolution. We are very satisfied with the outcome to this issue we experienced and would gladly recommend Precision Door Garage services to others. Thank you Tim for your assistance during that difficult experience we had.

Precision Door Service Response • Jan 23, 2018

On May 22, 2017, our installers noticed a smoke smell coming from the attic during a garage door installation. They immediately called the fire department. The fire department removed some insulation and caused some damage during the process.

Once the fire department left we finalized the installation of the new garage door. We made arrangements with Mr. Humbert on 05/22/17 to only pay $1,500 of the $1,917. In exchange he would provide us with a copy of the invoice for repairs. If the invoice was less than the balance owed, he would contact us and pay the difference. If the repairs were more than the balance owed, we would reimburse him the difference.

We never received this documentation so, at the end of the year Mr. account was flagged as being pass due and he was processed for collection on 12/28/17. Once Mr. received our certified letter notifying him of this collection, he then sent us a certified letter with a copy of the invoice he received for repairs. We received this certified letter on Jan 11, 2018. The receipt was from June 13, 2017 and the repairs cost $440.99. We immediately processed the paperwork to stop the collection, remove the lien, and process a refund of $23.04 plus $11.21 for postage. I personally tried to call Mr. without success.

The customer was completely understanding of the situation and he was 100% satisfied with the agreement to rectify this unique incident when we made the arrangements on 5/22/17. I understand why the customer is upset and the communication from Mr. and our office could have been better. I still don't feel this complaint is justified. I apologies for any inconvenience and we are using this as a learning experience to try and prevent this misunderstanding in the future.

Mr. has a lifetime warranty on his door and hardware, this will be honored if contacts us with any issues.
