From the moment they signed up, we had nothing but problems. Xavier's mom called and talked with Jared swearing and threatening.  I immediately  made contact with Xavier through text to find out his availability. At first I received a nice reply and then later a nasty one  I explained...

the conversation did not have to go like this and if there was going to be a problem I could refund their money. Later that evening I received another message asking to start over. I agreed. From that point until class time which was about two weeks, I received close to 20 texts from Xavier about what to expect. I answered him explaining from the beginning that driving is a hands on process and even though the class time is beneficial, he really needs to get in a car to really understand. In fact a lot of things won't make sense until he gets behind the wheel. He understood. When he came for his 8 hour class, I went over the rules, laws and driving experiences as I always do in my adult classes. I have taught many classes for adults including Remedial classes and I teach the teen classes as well. After the class I asked Xavier if he wanted to stay after a bit for some one on one explanations of things that were not clear. There was another student in the class as well so I wanted to make sure Xavier was understanding everything. I spent 45 minutes of my own time going over some things. Again I reiterated that this is best understood behind the wheel. At that time I asked if he had his temps which he did not. So I gave him a temps book and even wrote down the website where he could take practice tests. Later that day he text me thanking me for all my help and said he would be back. The next day, which was Sunday and my son's going away for the Marine Corp party, I received another couple texts asking for more explanation of things.  I could not respond but planned to Monday morning. Monday morning Jared receives numerous phone calls and messages via Facebook complaining that he failed his temps test and wants a refund. I explained he could not yet have taken his test yet because class was Saturday and let out after the BMV closed and they are not open Sunday or Monday. I sent Xavier a message explaining that and said I could help him if he feels like he needs more help. He then proceeded to tell me that he just wanted his money back because he was late on his rent and he had his kids to take care of. I had Xavier sign a contract which is our normal practice. I was more than willing to help Xavier and had already given him roughly 10 hours of instruction at this point. I feel a refund is unjustified and feel I have a right to hold him to the signed agreement.
