I have a home warranty through ***. My outside AC unit broke, and they OK'ed it being replaced. Precision Engineering is the contractor who came and attempted to fix the unit before it was decided to be replaced. My unit is located within a contained enclosure attached to my deck. The contractor told me that they would charge me an additional 3200.00, on top of the amount that *** was paying to replace the part. They said it was to relocate the unit because it was a "tight fit". I offered to cut the part of the deck away so that there is nothing impeding the access to the unit, I was then told that would only drop the price by $200. I have not seen a written summary of the work that would entitle a $3000 mark up over the amount that *** is paying. I asked *** to send a different contractor for a 2nd opinion. They refused. I don't feel they should be able to charge extraordinary over amounts, and just say its for a tight fit. I have had *** for 20 years, and to ask me to pay 3200 over the amount that *** is paying defeats the purpose of having the insurance.

We collected a deposit from the Home owner but because the outdoor unit is 20 plus years old we were unable to find the compressor to repair the system. *** policy states that if we can not repair the system we will replace the system. The home owner was made aware of this by a *** Rep. She was also made aware of the non covered charges that her policy does not cover by *** in detail. Were the current outdoor unit is located, it is illegal and the proposed new system would need to be relocated to a new location to be in compliance with state code. The home owner stated that she did not have the funds . We refunded her deposit at the direction of the owner of this company and was told by *** to close the work order. If the Home owner would like to proceed with installing the new system she should contact Her home warranty company again for a detailed cost. Thank you.P.E-HVAC
