In response to the complaint number ***, August First and foremost, this is the first I have heard about there being a problem with the vehicle since it left after the last repair. After the last repair the customer has not contacted me or anybody here about an issue. The
repairs on the vehicle are covered by a month 12,mile warranty for both parts and labor. This is stated on the repair orderIt is also stated that the warranty on this repair has to be made by us unless it has prior authorization. Nobody told her that there was no warranty on the repairs and a statement that we never wanted to see the vehicle again was made as an expression of how frustrating the whole repair became due to circumstances that were related to an extended warranty company and an employee of mine that quit in the middle of the jobThe first repair we made to the vehicle was a camshaft position sensor. Check engine light on and code for cam/ crank correlation. No other codesWe cleared the code as part of the diagnosis and it came back after drive cycles. After the sensor was replaced and code cleared the light stayed off for almost months. I stand behind that that repair was needed and we did nothing wrongThe second time the vehicle came in it was setting a cylinder misfire code. There was also a random misfire code but by monitoring data, cylinder was the primary issue. We spend considerable diagnostic time- that we were never paid for by either the customer or the extended warranty company. It was determined that the cam timing at times was jumping around enough to cause misfire. At this point we had to tear down to point of failure for the extended warranty company to give any authorization for repair. The vehicle was disassembled to the point of failure. Front bumper removed, radiator and condenser assembly removed, cowl panel removed, engine wiring harness removed at vehicle, front suspension un hooked, sub frame with engine and transmission removed, valve cover gaskets, intake manifold, oil filter housing all removed, transmission removed from engine and then the timing case removed from the engine. Then there are timing chains, tensioners and numerous guides at this point. The reason I list the complexity of the repair is The 35+ year master tech I had take the vehicle apart realized after taking it apart his inability to put it back together and quit. And after spending about minutes calling around *** to shops specializing in German cars/ ***, I found most would not do this job at all. The shops that would were all charging approximately $10000 And 3. The amount that her extended warranty expected me to do it for was way too littleAnyway, at this point the extended warranty company sends out an inspector to examine what is wrong. There were a couple of chain tensioners that were starting to fail- not holding tension on chains causing slack and timing variations which caused misfires. The inspector reported to the extended warranty company and they called me to authorize repair. They stated the contract would only cover what was bad and no other parts! I did explain that everything to do with the engine timing should be replaced at this time. They would not authorize that. The warranty company shorted me on time required, labor rate they would pay and some parts cost me more than they would pay. As well as fluids, filter and some other parts they determined to be customer pay. Their coverage was for a total of $3546.12 with the customers deductable of $250 which she paid and the total for repair of $3796.11. I wrote off the customer pay items due to the repair taking as long as it did. I think it is important to note that the customer submitted an estimate from Tynan’s that this repair should cost a little over $10,000. Customer states that if I had asked her to pay for extras she would have done it. I seriously doubt that if I had asked her for a little over $she would have agreedAs for the job taking a lot longer than it should, I agree that it did take longer than it should. That is why I tried to make peace by writing off the additional labor and parts which would have been customer pay for this repair. The reason it took as long as it did was mostly related to the tech taking it apart and then quitting. At the point when he quit I had nobody working here that I could trust to do that complex of a job let alone that it is always more difficult to do a repair after someone else took it apart. I am the one who had to put it back together and I am already working hours a day to get what I do, without working on vehicle, doneThe vehicle was picked up after this repair on 10/28/which is a Friday and it was picked up late in the day. The front bumper had to be removed as outlined above for the repair. The tech taking it off didn't mention to me that the vehicle had prior damage and parts of the bumper were glued together when he removed it. I had intended to mention, show the customer this when it was picked up but forgot. The bumper was secure to vehicle it just needed some pieced to hold the rear part aligned to fenders in place. As far as not returning her call, that was my fault. I got the message on Saturday when I came in to catch up and knowing that the bumper was secure I just didn’t have the energy to call that day and elected to call back on Monday morning. Monday got busy and I simply forgot. By the time I got through the stack of papers and found the note to call her she had already contacted me that the vehicle was coming back. By her receipt from Prestige she paid $to secure bumper. When the vehicle came back for the next repair I purchased parts at my own expense (little over $200) to repair as best as possible without replacing entire core supportNone of which was damaged by usWhen the vehicle came back it was making a noise from the timing area, check engine light with misfire codes. The shop it had just come from had indicated that the engine was oil starved and needed replacement at a cost of over $14000. As I wanted to verify by checking if oil pressure was prior to disassemblyI had to source a fitting for my gage that had gone missing. It took about days to get as I remember. When the pressure was checked it was well within range so I removed the engine again and tore down to inspect. Other parts not replaced previously were broken (guide rail). Again I waited for an inspector to come out and check. He sent his findings to the warranty company and they authorized to replace the broken part and only the broken part. At this point I said NO! And then we had a standoff. As I had felt before and still felt, if I call the customer and tell her she will be responsible for $5,to $6,extra, she is not going to do that. After many calls went unreturned by her warranty company taking time and escalating it to higher management they finally agreed to the repair but still were shorting me on hours, labor rate and part prices. I agreed as I just wanted this nightmare to end. Even though the bill was still $which it should have been much more, I absorbed the deductible and customer pay items and was only paid $by the extended warranty company which is shown on that invoiceAs for the last repair, oil leak. It was made very clear to me by an extended warranty company years ago that only customer complaints are to be addressed when a vehicle comes in for warranty workI am not to try to make a vehicle new at the expense of the warranty companyThere was a minor leak at the oil pan and since there was not an original complaint of oil leak that was not related to the repair done, it was not addressed. When the vehicle returned for that, again an inspector had to come out, report findings and originally the repair was authorized at $525.36. Then later they called and changed it to $140.17. This is shown on that invoice and that is all I was paid for this repairWithout inspecting the vehicle myself, I do not know if the repair it needs now is as the dealer states or if it needs something unrelated. Remember that it was stated by a dealer that the engine was oil starved which it was not. Should it be true that there is an issue with the repair I made I will make it right. If parts I purchased from the local dealer have failed I have a warranty with them on the parts I am frustrated by the extended warranty company that they made this repair much more difficult and drawn out than it should have been. They expected to have me do a job that should have cost over $10,for a fraction of that and get difference from the customer. And that the customer decided to contact the Revdex.com instead of calling me to discuss it first. There is a warranty on what I have done regardless of how much I have been shorted already and I fully stand by that warranty. If the issue is as Tynans indicated and the repair falls under our warranty, without having the extended warranty company involved in a repair I won’t have to wait for their authorization and the timeline of completion will be shortened but being as big of a job as it is (over hours labor) I won’t guarantee that it will be completed in a week but I will do everything I can to accomplish that

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to meI am not sure by the response from Precision if this means that they intend to repair the *** at no further cost to meIn spite of the exhaustive response, I was told repeatedly not to contact Precision and that indeed they never wanted to hear from me againI took that very seriouslyI have no further recourse except to have an associate perhaps assist me getting the repair completed with fear of reprisal from PrecisionI have no alternative since the warranty has been exhaustedI would like nothing more than to have this repair finally completed and to move forward without further difficultyI await a response from this letter
Sincerely,
*** ***
