Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/06/13) */
Hi, this is *** with Precision Leather Tuning*** had contacted me via email and had expressed dissatisfaction in the longevity of his repair and sternly stated that he wanted the seat fixed under warrentyWe do offer verbal warrenties but
only if the finish fails with wear and tear*** sent us photos (Which I have attached)One photo shows the before, prior to my workThe second photo shows a 2" wear spot which was not on the original photoThis is typical of a cell phone holster or another object continually wearing in one spotI told him due to the fact that the 2" wear spot wasn't in the original photo, it appears to me new abwear, I cannot warrenty that spot and we would need to charge something for our time to touch it upWe typically offer touch ups at a discounted price but before we could discuss that, *** became more adgatated and threatened to report us to the Revdex.com and Angies listHe even went as far as to send an email to the company where we get our products from(We replied with a similar email as this and sent the photos) Had *** been more rational we may have been able to meet in the middle somewhereBut his emails were full of angry demands and threatsI've been in business for 18yrs and this is my first complaint to the Revdex.comI am very sorry that *** is dissatisfied, But if we were to warrenty every job that has failed due to abwear and tear, we wouldn't be in businessI'm very good at qualifying my work prior to starting and make it a priority to thoroughly communicate to the customer what they're getting for their moneyWe charged *** roughly $to come out to his house, refurbish and color coat the front and back of both seats, center console, center arm rest, and rear side panelsIf you compare the after pic (with the 2" wear area) to the before pic, it shows that the color has held well throughout the rest of the seatAgain, we're sorry that *** is dissatisfied with our workmanshipBut the pictures clearly show abwearAnd had *** not been so threatening, angry, and demanding, we would have been happy to work out a solution to meet in the middleI know the Revdex.com requests that we get back in touch with *** but his demeanor is so angry and demanding that I fear a mutual resolution can't be made(Nothing short of us going out and touching up the abwear for free.) Please see attached photosAnd we're happy to discuss a mutual agreement to resolve thisBut we cannot do it under warrentied wear and tear and we cannot discuss it if *** is going to continue to be verbally threatening
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/06/15) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
*** appears to have completely misrepresented the entire dialogue and the issues surrounding the poor repair
1) I do not wear a cell phone holster nor does any part of my body touch that area while sitting in the seat
2) The car had less than 3,miles on it since the repair was completedThat represents about months of driving timeThe actual time was about months since the car is a classic and lightly driven
3) The 2" wear spot is back to the condition it was prior to the repair meaning the repair did not adhere or "take" on the 2" spotThe area around the 2" repair is holding its repair making the 2" spot look worse
3) The repair was over $on the entire car on both seats ad the center console, not $The poor workmanship of the seat in question depreciates the entire value of the repair
4)I did not threaten anything, I simply stated that if *** did not stand behind his repair and correct the fact that is wore off in such a short period of time, my only recourse was to report him to the Revdex.com and Angie's ListHow does reporting poor business performance to a bureau designed to report disreputable businesses constitute a threat?
5)I was completely rational in my approach, I asked if he stood behind the warranty both his words and his website claim and his answer was "I do back my work but the pictures show typical wear and tear from entering the vehicle" even though only months and 3,miles had transpiredPlease explain how that is not a rational request?
6)Here is the entirety of my initial request to get him to resolve the poor workmanship "You did my seats last July 10th and for the most part, they look great, but after only miles in between now and last July, the driver's seat has quite an ugly blemishDo you back the work and can I get you to take care of it? I attached a photo of the before as well." His response was as listed above, and my second response back to him was only to further explain that the car had hardly been driven and asked him a second time to reconsiderHis response was "That wear spot is not wear and tearYou're welcome to, or I highly recommend you search out other interior touch up companies if you feel that their system will last longer to such wear"
7) Finally, here is my "Threatening response"
"It is unfortunate you see it this wayMy only recourse is to report you to the Revdex.com and leave a review on Angie's listIf this was in my shop and a customer returned with this problem, I would repair without question or I would not have repaired it and taken money had I known the repair would last about a month in daily use."
That is quite polite considering he refused to stand behind his work when he both verbally and on his website expresses that he warranties his work
At this point, he can refund the amount of the charges for the work he performed and I will take him up on his offer to find a reputable company to repair the seat since he clearly is unable to and refuses to stand behind his work
I have the email thread should it be requested!
Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 11, 2015/06/18) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I addressed different points regarding your initial response and you came back and simply re-pasted the original response and added an additional photo that I believed was already presentI am happy that both photos are available showing that the repair simply wore off under light use in an exceedingly short period of time
Since you did not address a single point I made, I consider this unresolved and the warranty that was claimed verbally and on your website to be unfulfilled
I will re-iterate, At this point, you can refund the amount of the charges for the work he performed and I will take you up on his offer in your email to me to find a reputable company to repair the seat since you clearly are unable to and refuse to stand behind your work
Final Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2015/06/22) */
Okay, this is clearly turning into a case of verbal accusations*** is clearly disappointed and upsetAs I said in my earlier replyI do "offer" warrenties as stated on my siteBut there was no warrenty given to ***, nothing that covers anything beyond wear and tearNothing even stating so on his invoice or in any documentation that he may haveI've been doing this for 18yrs and this is the first time I've had to deal with anything like thisI service several dealers in the areaI've seen cars come in with miles looking like they were used to haul trash and I've seen cars come in with 60,miles that look so clean that you'd think you could eat off the seat*** continually reiterating that he has only driven miles means little when taking into consideration the random 2" wear spotWhen we inspect our finishes on vehicles we do not take into account milaegeWe look at what's physically there in front of usThere is not a 2" wear spot in the original photoIf *** would like us to take care of this spot we'd be happy to discount itBut I stand behind my name and craftsmanship, and I will not let him attempt to bully my company into free workIt's such a shame it had to come to thisBy nature,on our first meeting, *** is a great guyI have no ill will towards himBut business is businessAnd if I repair every vehicle that show signs of abwear, we'd simply be out of business***
