Do not walk, run Under the potential of being sued for libel, I can attest that this American Auto LLC business thinks absolutely nothing of forgery, doctoring receipts with "void", lying to DOT investigators, demanding cash payments for off-the-books sales, vandalizing property, using the privilege of a mechanic's lien as a method to extort fees from unwary customers, etc Please check the web Research on the Revdex.com site Call DOT Do your homework I called these guys to tow away a $scrap car and it has been a nightmare since

This will be our only and last correspondence on this matter Have a good day, [redacted] ***

RevDex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. [To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]I have read through the contrived response, [redacted] , along with the pre-dated receipt of January and the voided receipt for $400 I referenced previously. From the sound of their response, AA does not wish to hear from you again on this complaint. They also prefer that I not contact them regarding the property they continue to retain. Very well. I have promised they will hear only from attorneys of government agencies working in my behalf. As you can see, American Auto LLC (i.e. [redacted] Jr and [redacted] ?) have no qualms doing business off-the-books, illegally retaining property under the guise of a "mechanic's lien" in an attempt to extort $75 ("cash only"), ignoring the BBB, DOT, and the DATCP, etc.... They have suddenly created a receipt for the $1,400 it looks like, although the whole narrative is hard to understand. They would not provide the receipt for the last two months and respond to my complaint expediently. They now wish to convince the BBB that they "voided" the $400 receipt and charged me $1,400 for a repair. Not for a vehicle purchase, a repair.I sold the car to [redacted] Jr and [redacted] Oct 29, 2014 and provided them with the title (a tow driver). I was contacted by AA Dec 22, 2014 and asked if I was interested in buying the Honda Accord that I had sold to them. AA had decided not to junk the car but to repair it. AA and I exchanged numerous text messages. We negotiated over several weeks and I balked at a $2,500 purchase price. Eventually, a price of $1,800 was established on Jan 3, 2015. AA was to meet me at Panera Fitchburg Jan 5 at 7:35 AM but did not show. I received no response at all until later in the day on the 5th. This was in spite of two courtesy reminder texts sent over the previous weekend and at 7:36 AM on the 5th.AA contacted me the afternoon of the 5th and asked me to pick up the car at their tow lot vs meeting me in Fitchburg. I agreed and brought the cash. They did not provide a receipt on the day I bought the car. They told me one would be provided when I came back, sometime over the next "couple weeks" for the repair I'd negotiated with [redacted] . Namely, a remove/replace repair of the water pump and t-belt for $400. (cash only at that price I was told).I do not wish to have my receipts and documentation put into the complaint, [redacted] . This includes written documentation of the correspondence between AA and I, along with the receipts for the sale Oct 29, 2014, phone conversations, etc.... I will provide them to you directly. I think one of the more profound texts stated, "Your an it" along with "You got nothing coming" (my car) and "Born loser". Interesting.I am currently working with the DOT and an attorney to solve these problems.Thank you for your assistance. Regards, [redacted]

This complaint was resolved the customer was given his car for free.Sincerely, [redacted] ***American Automotive [redacted]

I have dealt with American auto several times and everytime it's fast efficient and the quality is amazing ...even with the hustle and bustle of them getting their cars "junked" they still find time for the customers who walk in and take care of them quickly I will def refer my friends to American auto as well as my return for all future automotive needs !!

Sarah and George are great to work with and I have over the 4-years They have helped me out so much from fixing my car to selling me a carThe fact that they work with me takes a huge stress reliever of my shoulders since having your car break is stressful enoughI will continue to work with them as I know my cars ate taken care ofPrimary care doctors right here!

Very professional and friendly staff they only sold me the parts that I needed and I got a great deal on them

Dear *** *** at Revdex.com,
American Auto LLC, owned by *** Jr and *** ***, supplied a response to you last week after this case was closedIt appears *** might be thinking that the extrication of my car from him in some way makes complaints with the Revdex.com, DOT, DOR go awayNo, ***I am now responding to ***'s response, one that we should feel fortunate to be receiving considering *** Jr's ultimatum that her response was the only you/Revdex.com would receive
The business decided to stop illegally retaining my car last week under the guise of a mechanic's lien*** left an odometer in my car, used 1/of a tank of gas, put a hole in the rear bumper, the right front tire went flat after driving it miles, a huge truck tire was left in the back seatyou get the idea***- this was even when AA LLC knew I'd be picking up my illegally held car on March 25th with a DOT investigator there to supervise the releaseOdometers are often swapped in used cars to make them "more valuable"Lower mileage anywayHmmm
Months ago, on Jan 7th, *** made a decision to try and "nick" me for a $towI told *** that didn't interest me and I wished him good luckI never required a tow and *** had decided to intentionally not meet me at my disabled car on Jan 5th, 6th and 7thSeems *** finally figured out his ignition system boner
When I sold the car to *** Oct 29th (tow driver Kevin) he talked me down to $from $for the scrap car because I did not have the keysI texted him later that day to tell him I'd found the key but *** never responded and went and put in a new ignition? smart huh?
On Jan 7th, *** felt I was making "ideal" threats to contact the Revdex.com, DOT, the Dept of Revenue, and an attorney to help him with his misguided attemptI think *** might still think I'm making more ideal (sic) threats when I make the assurance that he will be a defendant in a legal action, small claims or otherwiseAttorneys are expensive!
On Wed March an employee from DOT Licensing & Regulation met me at the business, located at E Washington Ave in Madison to extricate my car from *** Jr and ***It seems they had decided they wanted me to have my car backAdditionally, *** also decided that he no longer wanted $1-2,in "car storage fees", no tow fee, no diagnostic fee...nothing! *** suddenly decided, after my complaints with Revdex.com, DOT, that he was wanting to not charge me any more
In late Feb I shared with *** (*** goes by the moniker Mr *** *** at the shop) his text messages to me...the ones telling me his tow driver was, "..on his way", the telling me, "...we can't do it till tomorrow", etc
***, I've had an opportunity to look over AA's report here on the Revdex.com siteI hope others do, tooWowKinda scary
No ***, *** and *** Jr will not be getting any sort of "acceptance" from me as relates to this Revdex.com complaintThey can explain to a Judge their own words, not my wordsI recorded my phone conversations, kept all our text exchanges, kept my receiptsI wish American Auto LLC good luck

Hello ***,
Repeatedly, I have requested a receipt from American Auto LLC (AA) for the $1,purchase of the car on Jan 5th, that later became disabledI did the same in this complaint
to the Revdex.comI I have also called AA repeatedly to try and be provided a receipt and I have recorded the attempts and the conversations/messages I leave with employees for a return call that never comesI asked for a receipt times in writing in early Jan with no responseIn this response, AA continues to not acknowledge the $1,cash transaction ever occurred or to provide a receiptIt appears they intend to classify the transaction as a repair, although I can only speculateI have retained my receipt when I sold the vehicle to AA for $400, two months previous to the problems of early JanuaryI have contacted the DATCP and DOT to assist me with this problem as wellI have retained all my written correspondence with AA including text messages referring to an agreement to make a $repair, texts advising than an employee was en route to meet me at the disabled vehicle, ominous threats stating, "Im done playing with uIll send you a bill alright", et alAA has sent me an invoice for approx$that I received Jan 25thBy now, I think they may want more money than thatThey now wish to charge me
more than "only" $for a tow they chose to make vs meeting me at the disabled vehicleThey want to be paid a "diagnostic" charge now as wellThey now also wish to collect state sales taxThey also wish to receive $25/day parking to retain my carI do not know if paying cash will reduce these amounts?
I have asked AA to provide me with their attorney's contact information as wellThey have notI have advised them how I am not able to work with them regarding their complaint and desire to receive $75+....and that litigating their retention of my vehicle is what needs to occurMy expenses likely stop accumulating at the time my car is released and can be inspectedTill the, I continue to incur transportation, legal et al expenses

An individual other than myself had work done on a car that is in my name, which also has a title lien on it!
When it was time to pay the bill, the individual could not afford to pay!
The individual then asked the owner of the business if she could sale the vehicle to him, he agreed!
The owner of the business payed the individual!
I received a letter summarizing this informationI called the police, the owner claimed the individual had proof of ownership plus a valid I.d with my alias on it!
When the police requested copies of this information, the business failed to provide proof, stating that they shredded all proof! I do Not believe the business asked for any documents from the individual, therefore lied about shredding the proof! The actions that were preformed by this business are fraudulent!
I will Not rest until justice is served!

Only honest body shop in MadisonAnd there prices are amazing!!! I would never go anywhere else

This will be our only and last correspondence on this matter.

George and Sarah run a great business!
They are honest and easy to work with. They have fair prices for repairs, used cars, and tires. We have bought three cars from them for our family and have been very happy.

Have gone every time I've needed tires. Very honest, don't oversell, and helped walk me through things I didn't understand. Also as a side bonus, they were very pleasant and accommodating when I had to bring my disabled son one visit. Integrity, quality, value. I won't go anywhere else.

great place and nice people

I have been going to American Automotive for the last few years! Great, reasonably priced service. The only place I go!!!

Absolutely do business with again. Very professional, timely, and cost effective for me. Friendly service and polite.
