Precision Overhead Garage Door Service of Sarasota Reviews (%countItem)

Our garage door needed repaired and we called Precision Door Service. From the office personnel that answered the phone to the repair of the door we were very impressed by the professional attitude of the employees. When Lee S. drove in our drive way with a smile on his face and the --- let's get this problem fixed--we knew we had called the right company. With employees like Lee S. Precision Door will be around for years to come. Thank You Precision Door for employees with wanting to do a job and do it correct.

Be careful dealing with this company. Their advertising in The Home Magazine claims same day and emergency service and free service call for any repairs over $100.

When my garage door was stuck open they required an appointment only one available was 2-6 and I could not be there till 4 since I had a medical appointment. I pleaded for them to add me to that slot as last appointment available so I would not have door open all night. I am a senior woman living alone. Their website claims they are available 24 hours ??? I felt very vulnerable and desperate. So I persisted until someone called me back and agreed to send someone after 4.

As a senior alone I felt helpless with the excessive charges quoted which included a service call even tho their advertising claims free service call for repairs over $100. The spring was $180. I needed the security of my garage closed. The service guy then agreed to free service charge.

Technician did a good job.

A thank you email followed inviting a call to the owner if I was not totally satisfied. I called to let him know of these loose business practices where you feel held hostage by the service technicians and the company does not honor their same day service advertising. The office personnel insist that they alone can handle. So how would the owner know of the problems.

Be careful with this company and be aware of these excess charges quoted by the tech. Check their website and the Home Magazine. To protect yourself.

There are several contradictory and inaccurate statements left in this review. The customer called in yesterday at 11:59 am (01/07/2019) stating she had a problem getting her door closed. She required same day service so the call was immediately transferred over from the call center to the main office where the client was put on with the Office Manager. The office manager attempted to help troubleshoot the problem for the customer over the phone for immediate help. When the homeowner could not accomplish what the Office Manager advised, an appointment with a service technician was IMMEDIATELY provided for 2:00pm - 4:00 pm SAME DAY- approximately 2 hours from her call. The customer then stated it had to be later in the time slot as SHE had an appointment she had to be at. At this point we accommodated her yet again and pushed the technician back to 3:37 pm (SAME DAY) to inspect her door and diagnose the problem. Our standard service call entails a thorough 25-point inspection that checks all parts on the door, motor, and track. Our technician then explained his diagnosis in detail to the customer and laid out all possible areas of repair. He then re-aligned her safety eyes to get the motor operating properly again. After deciding she only wanted to replace the spring and not all the gain parts, he replaced her spring. On her final invoice he not only waived the $49.95 service call but he also DID NOT charge her for the labor of fixing the safety eyes. I as the General Manager attempted to speak to the customer when she called back in about her experience. She immediately brushed me off and insulted me as some young kid who doesn't know anything. I assure you neither point is true. I explained my job as General Manager is to make sure the technicians are acting professional and providing quality service while being hear to respond to any customer issues. She still refused to speak to me and would not explain what her problem was to anyone but the owner. I explained she was referring to an automated thank you email that is sent after an appointment and I am actually the person in charge of speaking to customers and that was not good enough for her.

In need of gate repairs on my Powermaster electric gate opener I went to the internet. The first company to show that they both sold and serviced this product was Precision. I contacted them by phone and they would send out a service tech. He looked at the 2 1/2 year old unit and said they could fix it but not that day. I waited a week until they finally sent someone out. After 4 hours of troubleshooting they told me I had either a bad circuit board, a burned out motor, or a short in the electrical wiring system. Essentially this is the whole system. I called the manufactucturer and they laughed asking who are these guys and if they couldn't figure it out why didn't they call our tech support line? Precisions tech said my best option was to scrap this unit and buy a system from them. Upon quizzing the technician he told me he had been with the company for 10 years and to his knowledge they had never sold or serviced a Powermaster unit. He said they could not fix it and told me I owed them $600 for their efforts. He said he could not leave without having payment and under duress I wrote him a check. Not wanting to put good money after bad I called a contractor friend and he recommended another company. They came out and in less than 2 hours and a third of the fee I paid Precision had the system up and running with no parts replacement. I contacted the owner Andrew S. by registered mail and asked for refund of my $600 since his company failed to fulfill his committment. He has chosen to ignore me hoping I will go away. I wonder how many other senior citizens have been taken in on the same deal?

Our technician was on site for approximately 4 hours stripping corroded wires and re-terminating wires, at that point it was 8:30 p.m. and to late and dark to continue. My technician dropped the trip charge on the first trip so the total was 600.00 and we were to return in the daylight to finish. The gate would not have run without stripping and re-terminating existing wiring. The customer canceled return trip and apparently had another company come out and repair operator and stated that it was corrosion on circuit board, my technician had not got to that point with it being dark out. Cleaning corrosion off circuit board would have been the next step had the customer not cancelled the appointment.

Response to Precisions explaination
Precision stated that they had to do 4 hours of wiring work before they could do any further diagnostics at which time they would have discovered the electrocuted frog on the circuit board. It should not take 4 hours of troubleshooting to detect an electrocuted frog on a circuit board. CIA Access found it in less than 5 minutes.

IF this were the case why did the gate run before without this extensive rewire?

CIA Access indicated that the system when they got to it was wired with the slave unit trying to send commands to the master unit. The system would not have run this way prior to it going down so the wiring that Precision spent 4 hours on must have changed the command control which CIA later had to change back to make it work.

At 8:30 pm after 4 hours of analysis the Precision technician could only tell me that there was a burned out motor, a burned out circuit board, or a short in the wiring. To continue at the pace they were moving it could have easily cost me over$1200. CIA Access was here for 1 hour and 45 minutes, charged me $280.21 and left me with a working gate system good to this day.

When my gate closure sales and service expert for my Powermaster system died unexpectedly at age 50 I turned to the internet to find someone to handle my problem. The first name to pop up was Precision. In reading through their data they stated that they both sold and serviced the Powermaster systems. I called them and they sent out a tech to look at the job. This was a Monday and he spent about 5 minutes and said they could do the job but not that day as he already had another obligation. He stated he would be back the next day, but if that didn't work, he would be back on Thursday but if that didn't work he would for sure be back on Saturday, Tuesday, no one showed and no call. Same for Thursday. On Saturday I waited until about 11:00 and I gave him a calI.He said he could not make it that day and "someone" from the office was supposed to call me. He stated he would be there on Monday "for sure". I waited all day and finally at about 4:45 he rolled in with another technician and began their troubleshooting.

After about 2 hours I went down to the gate to see how they were doing and what they had found. I also quizzed him about their experience with the Powermaster units. He told me he was the lead technician and that he had been with the company for 10 years. He said to his knowledge that they had never sold or serviced a Powermaster unit. When I said this is not what your web site says he shrugged his shoulders. He told me they were rewiring something. I asked if there was a wire loose or broken as the gate was working the way it was wired before it stopped working. He said we have to get the wiring right before we can do anything else. Did not make sense but I left them alone for another hour with the clock running at $150/hour. At 8:30 the lead technician came up to the house and said the gate was not yet working but they had isolated it to a bad motor, a bad circuit board, or a fault in the wiring. That is basically the whole system. I asked if he had contacted the Powermaster tech services hotline. My prior technician used them and said the were very good as they are the same folks that design and build the systems. They had not. At 8:30 p.m. Cris, the lead technician, presented me with a bill for $600. I said send me a bill and he said he had been instructed not to leave without cash or a check. He intimidated me into writing a check which I should have stopped payment on but didn't.

As a 73 year old military disabled veteran I live on social security and a small military pension. This $600 was a substantial expense like I had never seen before. As the gate was not working and they were leaving I asked him where that
left me. He said they could come back the next day but with 4 hours invested and no willingness on his part to tell me how much longer this was going to take I was apprehensive to commit as I could quickly see another $600 bill or more on the horizon. Money I didn't have. As another option he said I could scrap my 2 1/2 year old system which he said was junk and they would apply the $600 against the $6000 in house unit they sold. I told him I was going to pass and I would call them if l wanted them to work on it further.

I called my friend who is in construction and told him of my situation."You've been had" was his comment. He gave me the name of a company to call named CIA Access, and said they would fix it for me.

I called and the next day they came out. Within 20 minutes they had a conversation with the Powermaster engineers and had diagnosed the problems including the wiring issues backwards and the slave unit trying to send commands to the master unit. It took them another hour and 25 minutes to make the corrections and they sent me a bill me $280.21 (copy attached) the following week.

The gate, now 3 months later, has been working properly and never missing a beat.
I believe in summary two things happened;
1) Precisions web page falsly advertised that they sold and serviced Powermaster gate openers. They do not. Without this info I would never have contacted them. To me this is fraud. 2) Precision techs were either incompetent and too stubborn to call Powermasters techs or the intent was to run up a big bill before solving the problem or to sell me a whole new system.

Resolution
I contracted with Precision to fix my gate openers which they said they could do. I paid $600 for services that were never rendered. I believe I deserve a full refund.

Failing to get my refund I shall pursue with the state attorney generals fraud division and let them investigate as well as Channel 8 scam investigation group and believe it should remain as an active mark against their record.
